Located just a 1-minute walk from JR Chuo Line's "Nishi-Ogikubo" station, "Shinpo" is a popular izakaya in Nishi-Ogikubo where you can enjoy fresh seafood at reasonable prices. We ordered the sashimi platter (per person) for 1,750 yen, iwashi fry for 500 yen, komochi konbu for 650 yen, and buri kama yaki for 1,500 yen. We also had Sapporo beer (medium bottle) for 700 yen and Kanbayashi (on the rocks) for 650 yen each. The sashimi platter includes a luxurious selection of 14 items such as chu-toro, akami, biwamasu, botan shrimp, flatfish, scallop, octopus, red snapper, buri, ikura, uni, flounder, seared kinmedai, and itoyoridai. It truly is a treasure trove of the sea! The iwashi fry was recommended, and although the fish was small, the crispy texture with tartar and Worcestershire sauce was enjoyable. The komochi konbu, a must-order for us, had a gentle flavor with fish roe that burst in your mouth. The buri kama yaki, with its perfectly grilled texture and delicious fatty flavor, was worth the slightly higher price of 1,500 yen. Overall, after visiting more than 10 times, we finally left a comment. The restaurant has expanded since relocating, making it easier to get a seat without a reservation. The spacious and lively atmosphere with efficient staff members creates a welcoming environment. With delicious dishes made from fresh seafood at reasonable prices, we believe "Shinpo" will continue to be loved by the locals in Nishi-Ogikubo for a long time.
