"Branch of Jijibaba. Slightly larger than the main store. The toilet is conveniently located inside the restaurant. Ordered the recommended stewed couple (tripe with salt and tendon curry) for 1180 yen. The tripe with salt was tender, and the tendon curry was quite spicy and delicious. I think this is the best among the Jijibaba branches."

Third drink in Kyoto. I made a reservation just in case, and I recommend making a reservation when you go, as it's likely to get crowded again once COVID settles down. I made sure to eat plenty since it's the third stop. Surprisingly, the famous couple dish was not available today! I had the Third Gyoza, the usual dish, and what I think was Sichuan Mapo Tofu. The gyoza was quite soft, with delicious filling, but I prefer it a bit crispier. The usual dish is always a must-have, and I always sit at the far back for it. It's spicy but also mild enough for my sensitive taste buds. The Mapo Tofu looked different from what I've had before, with large pieces of tofu and a slightly spicier taste. The satisfaction of eating these big chunks of tofu is unmatched. I wish I had some Ine Mankai to go with it, but unfortunately, it wasn't available today. I also got to try freshly made Menma and seasoned kelp, which were both delicious. The kelp seasoning was just as amazing as the shiitake I had before. I couldn't finish everything as my stomach reached its limit. Sorry about that. Overall, it was a delicious meal today.

Today, I avoided the cold by walking from the station to Nanajo through the underground passage. I called to make a reservation for Ine Mankai, but it was sold out. So, I ordered Abeck for 1000 yen, with an additional bucket for 30 yen, La zi ji for 800 yen, Mapo tofu for 800 yen, White fish ajillo for 750 yen, and Wagyu tendon with shiitake mushrooms for an unknown price (lol). I always tend to order the same dishes. For those who are visiting for the first time, I recommend Abeck and potato salad, which are pretty much a must-try. They are delicious and look great. You definitely need to add more bread because it will run out. The real highlight this time was the shiitake mushrooms, a terrifying ingredient that is scarce in the world. I used to dislike them probably because of the "slimy shiitake yakisoba" served in school lunches in some parts of Kyoto, which made me unable to eat them at all. The tempura bar in the town where I could eat them also disappeared, so I thought I would never have them again. But since they were served as a service, I took a bite, and to my surprise, they were incredibly delicious! I mean, they should definitely be a regular menu item! As a result, I devoured them all by myself. I'm not sure if it's the amazing Chinese cuisine or the manager's skills, but this experience left a lasting impression, and I will definitely go back for this. I vaguely remember saying something like that as the memory fades away with the alcohol, which is not something that happens often. (lol)

Hello, today I came to "Jijibaba Daisan Sakaba" in Kyoto. It seems to be a Chinese-style izakaya. The interior of the restaurant has a small table and a counter. I had motsu (offal) stew and mapo tofu cheese omelette. The motsu stew comes in two flavors, which is enjoyable. The bread also complements the dish well. The cheese omelette didn't have a typical omelette texture. The mapo tofu was very spicy, which was well done. However, there were some whole spices that made it a bit difficult to eat. Thank you for the meal.

It's been a while since I visited Jijibaba Daisan Sakaba. They were still operating with shortened hours due to the lingering COVID-19 precautions, but they were open by 5 o'clock. The food here is always delicious. Although they haven't fully resumed their entire menu yet, I was happy to have their Sichuan-style Mapo Tofu. It's generously spiced with red chili peppers, which apparently brings out more flavor and depth the larger the peppers are. But it's still authentically Sichuan-style spicy – just the right amount of heat for those who enjoy spicy food. The Cashew Nut Stir-Fry was simple yet so fragrant and addictive. I wonder if I can recreate it at home. I couldn't stop eating. The set for a light drink with two dishes, like an appetizer, is a great option. I love the flavor of preserved eggs. Well done. Good restaurants really do bring happiness!

It's not addictive, is it? The spiciness here is on a whole other level. It's so spicy! Even though you struggle to eat it, the next day it's already on your mind again. I had the spicy mapo noodles (large). The volume made me exclaim, "Where's the soup?" They said, "It's at the bottom, so mix it up!" But it was impossible! However, as I ate, the soup mixed in, increasing both the spiciness and my appetite. I sweated and scratched my head, but managed to finish it. As I left, they even gave me a canned coffee. It seems like I'll be searching for spicy food from tomorrow onwards...

A friend is coming from Edo, so this place is convenient for access on the way back. Despite being the year-end party season, miraculously got a reservation. The last time I was surprised by the deliciousness of the couple (beef sinew curry and simmered dish), this time the top-grade potato salad with roast pork that doesn't look like a typical potato salad, and the always lively spicy chicken. Personally recommend Ine Mankai sake served hot. The potato salad may be a bit pricier compared to other izakayas, but the homemade roast pork elevates it to a level beyond its price. When I started drinking and opened the Ine Mankai, the almost terrorist-level spiciness and stimulating smell hit me. Even though I thought our seats were quite far apart this time, the smell of the spicy chicken always makes me feel sorry for others. I left feeling quite tipsy. Another day of great satisfaction.

I went to a delicious restaurant near Kyoto Station after work! I decided to try a place with high ratings on Tabelog. I ordered the char siu and mapo tofu, which everyone recommended, as well as the gyoza, which had a limit of one serving per person. The char siu had a unique, tender texture that I had never experienced before, and it paired perfectly with the green onions. I ordered the less spicy version of mapo tofu, but it was still quite spicy. The restaurant has limited seating, so reservations are a must as it is always crowded with customers.

The local guide led us to the second restaurant we visited, passing through a lively dining street. The main restaurant was also crowded. We arrived at a small, cozy restaurant with a large paper lantern at a corner slightly off the main street. We were lucky to get seats at the counter without a reservation. The back counter seats were right in front of the stove, where flames were rising, making it quite hot. This place seemed to specialize in Chinese cuisine. We started with a toast with red wine. We ordered the premium potato salad with roast pork on top, which had a smoky flavor and was delicious. The juicy dumplings were good but nothing out of the ordinary. We also tried the rare Menma tempura, which had a strong flavor, but would have been better if it was crispier. We finished off with a couple of Dragon Highballs (shaoxing wine). Despite the cramped and stuffy space, it was clear why the restaurant was thriving. Thank you for the meal!

Sujikari curry is the best! Today, both of us had a rare day off so we decided to go drinking from lunchtime. We tried going to Lid to cheer ourselves up after the ramen we had just before caused some discomfort, but it was still closed. We remembered another place nearby that was opening early, so we decided to give it a try. It seemed like the third branch of an old couple's restaurant, specializing in Chinese cuisine. We ordered some hot sake and looked at the menu. The waitress recommended their signature dish, the "Avek" which consisted of salted tendon stew and sujikari curry. The stew was delicious, with plenty of green onions and tofu. The sujikari curry was rich in spices and when eaten with bread, the flavors exploded in the mouth. It was exquisite! We kept ordering more dishes, forgetting to take photos, and kept adding more hot sake. We tried the oyster ahijo, a dish with daikon, konjac, thick fried tofu, and sake lees sauce, and finally ended with the spicy chicken. The spiciness filled the air in the restaurant as it was being cooked. This seems to be a special treat during quiet times. It was a hit and we will definitely be revisiting this place soon. It's conveniently located near Kyoto Station, so I highly recommend this restaurant.

Located near Kyoto Station, "Jijibaba" is a popular and quirky izakaya with three branches. One of the branches is situated behind Yodobashi Camera in the old drinking alley called Rido. The main branch, "Jijibaba," and "Jijibaba DOS" are located in this area, while the third branch is further north. This branch has also become very busy, and it's hard to get in without a reservation. Unlike the main Jijibaba, this branch has a more spacious interior with counter seats where you can relax. Tonight, I happened to have a drinking session with my son. He suggested making a reservation at a nice place, but I replied immaturely, saying, "I think I've been to that place before." I regretted my response. This branch of Jijibaba mainly serves Chinese cuisine, which is unique compared to the other branches. We started with a noodle-like salad as an appetizer with some draft beer. Then, we decided to leave the ordering to the staff. One surprising dish was the premium potato salad, which came with a large portion of delicious roasted pork on top. Beneath the pork, there was a hidden potato salad. The roasted pork was exceptionally tasty. We also ordered the famous Sichuan-style mapo tofu, which was incredibly spicy and flavorful. Sometimes, enjoying the night in Kyoto with my son is a great experience. Thank you for the meal. P.S. At that time, it seems my son was a carrier of the flu virus, and shortly after, we both ended up getting infected with influenza A. We had a tough time together. (^_^;)

A popular izakaya in Kyoto. Visited for dinner on a weekday and it was crowded with customers. Located near Kyoto Station, with several other branches also fully booked. Bon Jovi was playing in the background. The dishes had a Chinese twist.
[Food]
- Appetizers: Glass noodle salad, dried tofu.
- "Couples" dish: A combo of tripe salt and tendon curry, served with bread.
- "Fried chicken from Tokyo": Chicken feet grilled whole, a unique and tasty dish.
- "Grilled pork belly" potato salad with pickled radish.
- Shrimp mayo, dumplings, spicy mapo noodles, black fried rice with soy sauce.
[Drinks]
- Refreshing lemon sour, Dragon highball, pink sparkling with red wine, Iine Manzen red sake with a sweet taste, perfect for Chinese cuisine. The pictures are mostly blurry, probably due to the tiredness from a business trip. Seems like the alcohol hit quickly.

The food and drinks were delicious, and the service was very pleasant. I had a great time. *The counter seats are very close to each other, so you need to be considerate of others.

We arrived at the restaurant with two people before 10:30 PM on Thursday. We were seated near the entrance, but when we requested a table further back, we were told that they wanted to save those tables for larger groups. We found this odd, especially since the restaurant was not busy. The food was delicious, but when it came time to pay, we only had a 10,000 yen bill and were told they couldn't make change. We felt uncomfortable being rushed out at closing time, especially since other customers who seemed like regulars were not being asked to leave. Despite the tasty food, we will be looking for a different restaurant next time, as we felt unwelcome.

I have visited the Jiji Baba restaurant street a few times, but this time, due to the large number of people, I made a reservation here. The staff's response was good, and the atmosphere was comfortable. The creative Chinese cuisine was great, not limited to traditional dishes! There are also plenty of drinks available, so even those who enjoy drinking will be very satisfied!

This time, I want to come here hungry. The mapo tofu here is perfect for rice. The uncle recommended a delicious shochu, and the whiskey at the bar has a great flavor.

The small restaurant is always full, but the customer service is great. The food is all rich in flavor, and they also offer several types of sake from the Kansai region.

No matter what you eat, it was delicious! The restaurant is small so reservations are necessary! It's best to go with about 4 people, order a variety of dishes, and enjoy. The service was also good.
