We visited the restaurant around 5:30 pm on a regular day, and the interior was clean and slightly stylish. We were seated at a table for two, but the distance between our table and the next table (which had customers) was only about 10 centimeters, so we asked to be seated at the counter (even though there were empty tables for four, they didn't allow us to sit there as a party of two). There were acrylic boards at the counter seats, but the spacing between the table seats was too narrow. The staff seemed a bit unapproachable and didn't even say "please" or "thank you for waiting." The prices were generally high, including for alcohol. We ordered a mixed tempura platter, and while the tempura was crispy, it seemed like it had been pre-seasoned because when we dipped it in sauce, that was the only flavor we could taste. There was a staff member standing behind the counter seats the whole time, which made us feel uncomfortable. Even if the food is good and the atmosphere is nice, it may not be a place locals would frequent. I don't plan on going back again.

I visited this restaurant alone for about an hour around 7-8pm before returning to Tokyo on Sunday. It seems to be a place specializing in skewers, but the dashimaki tamago was fluffy with just the right amount of saltiness. It was delicious on its own, with grated daikon, wrapped in shiso leaves, or lightly dipped in soy sauce, and I enjoyed it many times. The skewers and fried skewers were cooked perfectly, which was a bit surprising. However, the individual dishes were a bit on the expensive side. The staff's service was excellent. When I ordered the first dish, both skewers and dashimaki tamago came out in probably less than 10 minutes. I ordered fried skewers with fu and wagyu, and two skewers of fu came out. I was a bit confused, but a passing floor staff member said, "This is the wagyu, and we split the fu into two to make it look more voluminous. But it's the same price for one skewer." It was a perfect timing for her to address my thoughts. When I accidentally dropped my chopsticks on my sleeve, the floor staff quickly came over and said, "Don't worry, please use these new ones." They had a great skill of showing consideration without making me feel embarrassed. The food was delicious, and I had a pleasant experience, so I would like to visit again when I go to Kyoto.

I found a restaurant for dinner on the first day of my trip to Kyoto after 6:00 PM without a reservation. The food was delicious, especially the grilled skewers with black wagyu beef, chicken with leeks, chicken thigh, and fried summer vegetables with eggplant. The prices were a bit high, but the food was worth it!

On the way back from Osaka City, Suminoe Ward to Kyoto Station from Koka City, Shiga Prefecture, finally had a leisurely meal before heading back on the Shinkansen. Went to a tempura restaurant in the Kintetsu department store directly connected to Kyoto Station. From the handwritten recommended menu, we tried the cool-looking summer dish called "hamo otoshi," the delicious tempura of white shrimp with a crispy texture and a fragrant flavor, the grilled Man'yoji pepper that goes well with ginger soy sauce, and the incredibly fresh sashimi of swordtip squid. For the finale, we had a selection of Kyoto-style skewers including black wagyu beef, Tanba Ajiwai chicken thigh, quail egg, Kyoto-style raw egg, and white scallion. The calm atmosphere that doesn't feel like a station building, the attentive service of the staff, and the opportunity to try some Kyoto-style dishes made it a great place for good communication at the end of the business trip.

You can also see the process of grilling yakitori and other dishes in the open kitchen. The restaurant has a spacious counter and table seats. They have a wide variety of shochu drinks, including some rare ones. The yakitori is delicious, and they also serve skewered tempura. The shrimp in the Ebi Chili is on the smaller side but very tasty, and the sauce was to my liking. The spring rolls are quite different from what I expected, as you can see in the photos. The karaage is large-sized, with around 6 pieces, so it's quite a generous portion.

I had some time to spare at Kyoto Station, so I decided to have an early dinner to pass the time. It wasn't crowded when I arrived, but it quickly filled up and became almost full. The izakaya had a wide variety of menu items, including yakitori, karaage, and shrimp chili. Thank you for the delicious meal!

A friend from overseas was coming to Kyoto, so we decided to visit this Japanese-style izakaya we found while strolling around Kyoto Station. It was a calm and relaxing place. My friend went for a second round, while I had my first meal there and ordered quite a lot to drink (lol). We had sashimi, yakitori, beer, and more. Everything was delicious. It's conveniently located inside Kyoto Station, just a few minutes' walk away, so it's a great choice when you're unsure where to eat!

I visited the restaurant "Sumbei" in the Nankai Meiten-gai Miyakomichi inside Kyoto Station near the Kintetsu Department Store in late February during my stay in Kyoto. The cozy atmosphere of the restaurant, with a total of 52 seats including counter seats and table seats, was not what I expected from a station building. I was seated at the counter and ordered an Asahi Super Dry draft beer (medium) for 680 yen. Looking at the menu on the table, I decided to go for Kyoto-produced dishes, ordering "Mongou squid sashimi" for 1,000 yen, "Red sea cucumber with ponzu sauce" for 880 yen, and "Tuna and green onion skewer" for 300 yen. The Mongou squid sashimi was tender with a sweet flavor, perfect for pairing with sake. I decided to try the Kyoto Izumi junmai ginjo sake (dry) for 1,300 yen, which had a crisp taste that complemented the dishes well. The red sea cucumber had a crunchy texture similar to sazae (turban shell) and was delicious with sake. After enjoying the food and drinks, I settled the bill for the day. Thank you for the meal.

I came to this place because I wanted to drink and eat some fried food at Kyoto Station, and I heard that their fried chicken is really delicious. The restaurant is located inside the station and they do not accept reservations, so it can be difficult to get a table. Luckily, there was a table available when I arrived, so I ordered a beer and some fried chicken right away. The fried chicken was indeed delicious. I wondered why it wasn't listed on the menu under fried foods as I enjoyed my meal. It seems like they also serve lunch, so I will come back next time for lunch.

The dashimaki set meal with fried chicken for 1,350 yen is served. Let's eat. The dashimaki is fluffy and juicy, from the first bite to the last it drips perfectly. The combination of dashi and egg mixture, the temperature, the heat and speed of cooking, resting, subtle expressions of technique, and the delicious rice. The fried chicken is deliciously sweet and juicy, with a crispy coating made from half rice flour. Grated daikon with a sprinkle of soy sauce on rice is the best. Enjoyed the meal, thank you. Worth the 1,350 yen for lunch, satisfied.

In a hurry and looking for a quick drink in Kyoto Station, I stumbled upon this place. I was drawn in by the fact that they serve yakitori along with a variety of other dishes. I started with a draft beer for a toast. Then enjoyed a platter of yakitori, sashimi, and tempura while drinking. It wasn't incredibly delicious, but the atmosphere of the restaurant was nice, and it was relaxing to enjoy a variety of dishes. Thank you for the meal!

I visited this restaurant for dinner in May 2022. It is located in the Kintetsu Department Store near Kyoto Station. This place offers a variety of Kyoto local sake, tempura skewers, and grilled chicken. The appetizer was 330 yen and consisted of thin-fried tofu, spinach, and boiled silk peas, which were delicious. I ordered a bottle of Junmai Daiginjo for 1430 yen, quail skewers for 210 yen, asparagus for 260 yen, ginkgo nuts for 210 yen, chicken skin skewers for 210 yen, and grilled chicken thighs for 220 yen. The sake, tempura skewers, and grilled chicken were all delicious. The prices were reasonable too. I love this kind of izakaya. It's convenient being near the station. I highly recommend it.

I visited this place located below Kintetsu Kyoto Station. The background music in the store is JPOP. I ordered dishes like "Salad with Mizuna and Fried Yuba." The food was served in about 10 minutes. The fried yuba was crispy and went well with the mizuna. The skewers were also tender.

Visited the restaurant around 8 p.m. on a Sunday after a tiring day of walking around enjoying the autumn leaves. The restaurant was already crowded with two groups waiting ahead of us. We were greeted with a quick "welcome" and then left alone. We considered going to another restaurant, but figured they would all be busy, so we decided to wait. This must be the baptism of fire in Kyoto, we thought. We were finally seated after a 10-minute wait, at a table near the entrance which seemed to be for infection control as the ventilation was excellent. We couldn't resist drinking lots of warm tea. The grilled chicken with green onions had a nice charcoal flavor and was delicious. The assorted skewers were crispy and tasty. The grilled ginkgo nuts on skewers were okay. Thank you for the meal.

After a break due to the coronavirus, Kyoto Station's "Kintetsu Meiten-gai Miyakomichi" is bustling with people. I had lunch at Sunpeibei for the first time in a while. The oyster fry set meal costs 1100 yen, with tartar sauce and Worcestershire sauce ready in small dishes. The oysters were crispy and juicy! The deliciousness of the oysters spreads in your mouth. Although the amount of rice was large, I finished it and became full. Thank you for the meal.

This is Kyoto. Located at the Hachijo-guchi exit of JR Kyoto Station. I found this restaurant in the Kintetsu Meiten-gai Miyakomichi. I had work in Kyoto and was looking for a lunch spot, so I decided to come here. When I entered the restaurant, the veteran staff members were quick and efficient. However, the busy location made me feel a bit rushed and uncomfortable. I ordered the fried horse mackerel set meal. It took about 10-11 minutes for the meal to arrive. The set meal consisted of two pieces of freshly fried horse mackerel, a small salad, pickles, miso soup, and rice - very simple. The fried horse mackerel was delicious, but the overall meal felt a bit lonely. The taste was average, and I don't think I will visit this restaurant again.

During my trip to Kyoto, I spent the day sightseeing and returned to my hotel near Kyoto Station as it was getting dark. Feeling tired after walking over 20,000 steps, my husband and I decided to head to Kyoto Station for a drink. We found a nice restaurant called "Sunbei" in a dining district near Hachijo-guchi that was easy to walk through. The restaurant was crowded, but the staff managed the flow well. We ordered salad, yakitori, grilled squid, and a few drinks. The atmosphere was lively, with a group of older gentlemen at the next table. Despite the noise, the staff was attentive and made us feel comfortable. Overall, it was a pleasant dining experience.

This is a deep-fried skewer restaurant located in the area around Kyoto Station in Kyoto City. The restaurant is located on the first floor of the Kintetsu Meitengai Miyakomichi, directly connected to Kyoto Station. With a traditional Japanese exterior and an atmosphere that exudes a sense of luxury, the interior is calm and relaxing, with an L-shaped counter seat, table seats, and a raised tatami table seat at the back, making it possible to accommodate a variety of customers. The daily lunch set menu includes "Teriyaki-style Chicken Set Meal 950 yen", "Ginger Simmered Set Meal 950 yen", "Fried Chicken Set Meal 950 yen" using Tanba Ajisai chicken, "Tonkatsu Set Meal 1200 yen" using domestic pork loin, as well as other options such as "Assorted Skewer Set Meal 1120 yen", "Horse Mackerel Fry Set Meal 880 yen", "Mixed Fry Set Meal 900 yen", "Yakimeshi Set Meal 980 yen", "Mapo Tofu Set Meal 1000 yen", "Black Wagyu Minced Cutlet Set Meal 980 yen", "Dashimaki Set Meal 950 yen", and more. The "Ginger Simmered Set Meal" includes ginger simmered chicken (served with cabbage, tomato, and cucumber), pickles, miso soup, and rice. The restaurant prides itself on using fresh meat that has not been frozen, and carefully selected Tanba Ajisai chicken, a local brand, is used generously in the dish. The fried chicken, crispy and coated with a ginger-flavored sauce, is satisfyingly hearty. It is a popular choice for lunch, and the consistent deliciousness of the fried chicken lives up to its reputation. With a wide range of menu options typical of an izakaya, I look forward to trying the "Mapo Tofu Set Meal" and "Dashimaki Set Meal" with fried chicken on my next visit. It is conveniently located near the Shinkansen Central Exit and offers great value for money.

We decided to spend some time in Kyoto before heading home, feeling reluctant to leave. We chose to visit a restaurant in the dining area "Miyakomichi" near Kyoto Station's Hachijo exit, which specialized in skewers and grilled dishes, perfect for enjoying with beer. The exterior of the restaurant looked elegant, and our excitement was at its peak. Once inside, we found that the overall taste, service, and atmosphere were average, and the portion size of each dish was somewhat lacking. The cost performance was not great either, but the skewers and grilled dishes, the restaurant's specialty, were decent. We were able to enjoy our meal calmly, thanks in part to arriving slightly early. The fact that there were empty seats at regular tables but we were almost led to the counter seats was a bit confusing. It seemed strange that if we had taken those seats, the counter seats would have been full. Of course, we preferred the comfortable regular table seats. While some restaurants may offer a more luxurious experience at the counter, this restaurant did not quite meet that expectation, which was a bit disappointing. Considering the many other restaurants in Miyakomichi, if you have time, it's recommended to enjoy a couple of main dishes and beer here without overdoing it, and then visit another restaurant for a final meal.
