I visited the restaurant on Saturday afternoon. It was a little past 12 o'clock, and I was worried it might be full, but I decided to go in. As I walked through the curtain, I saw a courtyard with blooming plum blossoms, creating a nice atmosphere. I opened the sliding door and entered. Right in front of the door, there was a 4-person table, and further back, there were two more 4-person tables. The counter had space for about 6 people, and beyond that was the kitchen. The high ceiling and bright interior created a calm and pleasant atmosphere. There was only one group of customers at the counter, so there was space available. I settled at a 4-person table with 3 chairs. The menu included soba noodles and some small dishes that would go well with alcohol, such as dried fish. We ordered "Shrimp Tempura with Grated Radish" and "Duck Broth Soba" along with mackerel rolled sushi for two. The soba noodles arrived shortly after. The duck broth was slightly sweet and delicious. The soba noodles were clean and slender, with a hint of green color. They were smooth and delicious. The mackerel rolled sushi, 6 pieces in total, was divided and shared. The mackerel was large for a rolled sushi and had a rich flavor that paired well with the soba noodles. I wished I could have some alcohol, but I had to drive later, so I refrained. I'll make sure to come back when I can have a drink. It's nice to have a good soba restaurant within walking distance from my home. I'll definitely visit again. Thank you for the meal.

I enjoyed the rhythm of the bone cutting while waiting for the zaru hamo, ebi, anago, and vegetable tempura at the restaurant. The tempura was carefully fried and the soba noodles were perfectly firm. It was very delicious. #Kyoto #Fushimi #Nakakoshima #MomoyamaGoryomae #Shiunsen #Soba

Soba noodles with refreshing summer ginger, delicious and simple. Perfect for the season. Tempura assortment with fresh squid sashimi. Even the tentacles are tasty. Goes well with sake. This soba shop is a favorite around here. Delicious soba. Thank you very much.

Today's lunch at "Teuchi Soba Shion" was a delight. Located along the Takeda Kaido in Fushimi-ku, Kyoto, just north of Teradaya, this soba restaurant has recently relocated from in front of Kyoto City Hall. The exterior is marked only by a black burnt cedar wall along the Takeda Kaido, with the entrance hidden behind the wall facing north. Reservations are recommended as they have limited operating hours. While there is no parking lot, there are plenty of coin-operated parking spaces nearby. Upon entering through the noren curtain, you pass through a garden with stone lanterns. Inside the restaurant, photography is not allowed except for the food. I opted for the classic "Ten Soba" priced at 2090 yen. The timing of the soba and tempura was perfect. The tempura included shrimp, green beans, and a unique firefly squid tempura with a hint of miso, perfectly fried to a delicate crispness. The tempura, though a common dish, had a light and crispy texture due to the thinness of the vegetables. The soba, made with 100% buckwheat flour, had a simple presentation. It was served with separate dipping sauces for the soba and tempura, which was a nice touch. The soba had a distinct aroma and flavor, although it was slightly softer and less firm than usual, but still satisfying. A cloudy soba-yu was served at the end, which had a smooth and light consistency. This relocated soba restaurant offers high-quality dishes that are worth a visit.

I haven't had the chance to visit this place often, but it's located just north of Takeshita Street from Nakanojima, right after crossing a bridge with beautiful cherry blossoms on the right. The restaurant is called Shiunsen. The interior is beautiful, and the soba noodles, which are hand-made with 100% buckwheat, have a smooth texture and the dipping sauce is delicious. The soba set also includes my favorite firefly squid with vinegar miso, which was great. I will definitely go back. It was really good. The other dishes also looked good, so I would like to try it for a drinking night as well.

I wanted to eat mackerel sushi again, so I went to Murasensen! This time, we had warm grated soba (for my wife) and zaru soba (for me), mackerel sushi for two, and a tempura assortment. The mackerel sushi was still the best! The soba was incredibly delicious as well. The tempura assortment that I was curious about last time was crispy and delicious. Everything was so tasty. Thank you for the meal.

Today, I had lunch with my wife at Shion Sen, which recently moved to the neighborhood and can be found on Tabelog. It used to be located near Kyoto City Hall. We arrived just after 12 o'clock and we were the only customers. I had the cold grated yam soba, which had a perfect balance of spiciness and fragrance, along with a delicious broth and the flavor of the soba noodles. My wife had the duck broth soba, which had no gaminess and had a great texture and flavor from the duck. Both dishes had amazing broth! The soba noodles were served in hot water and were delicious! The mackerel sushi was outstanding, with a unique way of finishing the mackerel that I had never experienced before. There was no fishy taste, and the refreshing feeling after eating the mackerel was incredibly delicious! I think I'm going to become addicted to the mackerel sushi here! Thank you for the meal.

I ordered the large size zaru soba for 900 yen and was surprised when the total bill came to 1430 yen. The large size wasn't much bigger than the regular size. The soba broth wasn't to my liking and the soba water was too watery. I don't think I'll be going back again. Personally, I don't like it when the restaurant's rules are written on paper and displayed.

The atmosphere inside the restaurant is great, with a second floor dedicated to a soba-making area. I enjoyed listening to jazz music while sipping on a non-alcoholic beer and devouring the mountain pepper simmered sweetfish. The mountain pepper flavor was relatively mild. The soba noodles were hand-cut and made with 100% buckwheat flour, served on a plate that resembled Shino ware. The noodles were thin with a clean edge and well-drained, showcasing the meticulous work done. The broth was well-balanced and likely to appeal to everyone, although I personally prefer a stronger and sharper Edo-style broth. The soba water had a slight dilution, which I appreciated as a light eater. Overall, it's a great restaurant!

I visited at noon. There were no other customers, so it was like a private dining experience. The set meal included a delicious and beautifully presented appetizer, and I tried the slightly salty karasumi soba for the first time. The tea soba topped with tochimochi was easy to eat, and the tempura was also tasty. There was even dessert, and I felt like my stomach was going to burst from all the food. The eel tempura soba came with two types of eel, one with plum and the other with shiso leaf, and it was enjoyable. For women, I recommend ordering dishes individually due to the portion size.

It's been 3 months since my last visit. I feel like eating something good again. The tempura set without tempura costs 1650 yen. It includes conger eel sashimi, fresh octopus, small sweetfish, vegetables, and eggplant with miso glaze. The ginger rice has a nice aroma, and the cold soba noodles with a good broth are delicious. It's a classic choice, so if you're satisfied with the price, please enjoy it.

I had heard that the restaurant was moving from Gyo-kocho Goike to Fushimi, but I noticed that it was still open. It seems like a shop renovated from Shimotaya. Quite a few people were inside. I ordered the Sobamizen for 1650 yen. It was a dish with fuki, bamboo shoots, shimeji mushrooms, and cod roe. I also had some raw octopus sashimi to make it a bit luxurious. The cold soba and broth were delicious. The bamboo shoot rice was also impressive.

It has a quiet and calming atmosphere. They have a wide variety of soba dishes and the service is polite. From sashimi to tempura, they also offer a great selection of drinks. If you love soba, this is a must-visit restaurant. Thank you for the delicious meal!

I started to become more health-conscious and began eating soba noodles. Until now, I had the image that 100% soba noodles were mushy, but these ones had a good texture and were delicious. The broth was also delicious and gentle, making me want to go back again and again.
