I had made a reservation at this restaurant and arrived close to the end of lunchtime at 13:45, but my table was still reserved for me along with the dishes for four people. The lunch menu had two main options to choose from, both vegan dishes. We all chose the main dish made with seitan, which was filled with plenty of vegetables and topped with a delicious green dressing. The black rice was soft and fluffy, and the miso soup had a generous amount of ingredients with just the right seasoning. The fried vegetables were crispy and tasty, although the curry flavor on the cabbage was not to my liking. Overall, the meal felt healthy and nourishing. The restaurant had a cozy atmosphere with LP records, perfect for a relaxing time. It may not be suitable for noisy groups like ours, but it's a great find tucked away from the busy Uji shopping street. The exterior looked like a regular house, but inside, it was a renovated traditional Japanese house turned into a charming dining spot called "Yamakoya." Besides their lunch menu, they also offered a variety of homemade baked goods by the owner, which can be reserved by calling in the morning on the day of visit. With a natural and lovely theme, different from the usual tea soba shops in Uji, I would love to make another reservation and visit again next time.

This is a lunch plate that focuses on health and beauty, using seasonal vegetables, beans, grains, tempeh, and wheat gluten without using animal-based ingredients. The rice is brown rice, and in addition to the main dish, it comes with a salad, five side dishes, and soup. These are dishes that are hard to make at home with such attention to detail, and I think they are popular with women. I also enjoyed the retro atmosphere of the restaurant.

The coffee was delicious! I wasn't a fan of the strawberry and rice flour, organic chocolate dessert, and found it hard to finish. It seems like they focus too much on being vegan, and the normal deliciousness is lacking. The lunch, with lots of vegetables, looked delicious! The restaurant seems to have a strong emphasis on being organic. I was curious about the female staff not wearing masks.

I really enjoy vegan cakes at this place, which usually have two types available priced between 500-600 yen. What I like the most is that they always have different cakes whenever I visit. Sometimes they also have canelés and non-vegan cakes. I always sense a hint of curry-like spices in their cakes, and I really like that too.

I visited the restaurant during the weekend lunchtime in October 2020. Unfortunately, the lunch was fully booked, but I wasn't there for that anyway. I usually buy canelés, but this time I noticed something different - a "Japanese chestnut rice flour Mont Blanc". The landlady mentioned that this seasonal item would likely be ending after this weekend. I purchased the Japanese chestnut rice flour Mont Blanc, a plain canelé, and a matcha-flavored canelé. The Mont Blanc had a sponge base made with brown sugar, unlike the usual meringue base found in most other Mont Blancs. The chestnut cream was smooth and had a good chestnut flavor, which paired well with the brown sugar base. The matcha-flavored canelé had a slightly green surface and a green interior, with a surprisingly good combination of canelé and matcha flavors. The restaurant has been consistently offering vegan dishes, and I hope for a quick recovery for the owner's health.

During my visit in September 2020, amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, the restaurant had been temporarily closed due to a certain issue, but it had reopened. The lunchtime slots were already fully booked, so I decided to purchase some of their famous canelés. They were freshly baked, so I enjoyed them right away at the shop. The surface was crispy and the inside was soft and chewy, very delicious. The consistent and reliable deliciousness of their canelés remained the same as before, but since they were freshly baked this time, I found them to be especially tasty. I look forward to making a reservation soon and visiting for lunch.

The mountain hut has been taking a break for a while. I recently had the Cliffside Bento Box, mountain hut edition, at an event. It was a vegan bento made with local vegetables and it was really delicious. I was very satisfied with this long-awaited dish. The shop is planning to start serving it on weekdays only starting in August, and I am looking forward to it.

I visited this restaurant during the New Year holidays for lunch. It is located inside from the Uji Hashi-dori shopping street. You might easily miss it if you don't pay attention. It seems like they renovated an old house, with concrete floors. The atmosphere is calm with comfortable furniture and nostalgic background music. It appears that the husband and wife manage everything. The place may seem a bit dim, but it adds to the relaxing ambiance.
For lunch, I ordered the Tempeh Teriyaki set which included brown rice, Tempeh Teriyaki, onion tempura, salad with coriander dressing, miso soup, rice flour gratin, broccoli simmered in broth, pickled daikon, and simmered burdock in garam masala flavor. The Tempeh Teriyaki was delicious and easy to eat without any strong flavors. The onion tempura was also tasty. The salad had a subtle coriander flavor that was enjoyable for most people. The miso soup had a hint of sake lees which added richness. The rice flour gratin was well-seasoned and delicious. The broccoli was lightly flavored, and the burdock had a unique garam masala taste.
I also ordered black tea and a rice flour crepe with sweet potato filling and buttercream. The black tea was refreshing and tasty. The crepe with sweet potato filling and buttercream was a delightful combination, with a creamy and sweet flavor that complemented the sweet potato well. The crepe was slightly chewy due to the rice flour, but it was still enjoyable.
Overall, I had a surprisingly delicious meal and tea at this restaurant, which I visited for the first time. The husband and wife team's hard work is evident, and I believe they deserve more recognition and customers. I will definitely make time to visit again.

The visuals are amazing! The lineup of good things for your body is incredible, and my excitement levels are through the roof! It's like having a wonderful lunch in a charming old house that feels like a mountain hut, all handmade with wood. The vegetables are delicious, and they use vegetables I've never heard of before, which is fun. I love meat, but it's rare to find a meal that satisfies me without it like this one does. I really want to go back to Kyoto. I used to go once a month, but now I miss it so much. Thank you for the delicious meal.

A shop in Uji that is renovated from a private house. It is run by a couple, with the husband being a record enthusiast and the wife creating beautiful vegan dishes. Their personalities shine through in the atmosphere and the food. A friend who is a regular always goes there for lunch. The dishes are kind to the body, with flavors ranging from light to rich. Although it is vegan cuisine, it is very delicious.

The charmingly named Shokudo-yama Cottage is quietly nestled in the area known as Naka-Uji in Uji City. The interior of the restaurant, renovated from an old folk house, exudes a relaxed atmosphere with records playing in the background. The gentle lunch menu, free of animal products, features dishes like carfu tempura and tempeh, a soy-based fermented food. They also recommend their own roasted coffee and chai, made with soy milk instead of regular milk and desserts without milk or butter. While they don't label themselves as vegan or organic, this natural food restaurant is recognized by all as a place where you can enjoy a wholesome meal.

I was taken to a stylish restaurant! It's so cute from the entrance! I had a one-plate lunch. Various dishes were beautifully arranged and it was really wonderful! You can also get plenty of vegetables!! I really liked the fine batter on the fried food! It was delicious! The inside of the restaurant is very clean with just the right amount of space and it's stylish. I want to come back next time for tea! I will definitely visit again!

Located in Kyoto, Myoraku in Uji, there is a restaurant called Yama Koya. It is within walking distance from Uji Station on the JR Nara Line, making it easy to find. Despite its name, it is not deep in the mountains but rather in the town center near the station. The area is bustling with tourists, especially around lunchtime. Yama Koya serves body-friendly dishes made with organic vegetables. They offer a plate of seasonal vegetables, allowing you to enjoy a variety of dishes. It was delicious and a great experience.
