Located in the middle between Hankyu Shijo-Omiya and JR Nijo stations, Muro-san is a popular spot in Kyoto that needs no introduction. It was around 8 pm on the last day of a long weekend when we decided to visit this place as our second stop. This was my third or fourth visit, but it was the first time we were able to get in without a reservation (and with a group of four). Perhaps because it was during the Obon holiday period, we were able to get in as walk-ins, but I still recommend making a reservation as it is a popular spot. First, we were served an appetizer platter with edamame, potato salad, plum jellyfish, and whitebait with grated daikon. It was nice to be able to try a variety of dishes in small portions. The oden, a Japanese hot pot dish, consisted of the usual radish, tomato, and half-boiled egg. The oden broth was incredibly delicious, and the radish soaked in the broth was amazing. The tomato oden had a unique Italian twist to it, and the idea of making oden with tomatoes was impressive. Of course, when eating oden, you have to have some sake, so we ordered a couple of different types to enjoy. The combination of oden and sake was simply delightful, and we could have eaten and drank forever. Since it was our second stop, we didn't order the kettle rice this time, but I definitely plan to try it next time. This place is perfect for a date or for a group of friends looking to enjoy a relaxing drink at the counter or have a fun night out. I will definitely recommend this place to other friends. It was a regular day, but the restaurant was still bustling! Tomato, chicken meatballs, ginger tempura, soft-boiled egg, special sausage, clam rice, and shumai were all delicious. I forgot something else. It had been a while since I last visited, but everything was tasty. The broth was delicious too. This place offers not only traditional oden but also creative dishes, so you can enjoy a variety of options without getting bored. The clam rice is a must-order! I personally like to finish with the light rice at the end!

About a 5-minute walk from Hankyu Dentetsu Omiya Station, along Goin-dori, there is a great izakaya known for its delicious oden and kamameshi. Even on a hot day, enjoying ice-cold beer or sake with piping hot oden is a treat. Oden dishes range from 194 yen each, with classics like chikuwa, daikon, potatoes, thick fried tofu, and konjac, as well as unique options like tomato oden with cream and cheese for 500 yen. The oden has a delicious broth with a hint of sweetness. They also offer oden rice porridge and oden ramen for a satisfying meal. With around 35 varieties of oden, it's hard to try them all in one visit, but the flavors are worth coming back for. The freshly cooked kamameshi is also a must-try, with the ingredients' flavors seeping into the rice. Overall, a delightful dining experience with delicious oden and kamameshi.

The dashi broth in the oden was exquisite! I really appreciate the dashi culture in Japan! The food was delicious and paired well with sake, I couldn't stop eating with chopsticks (laughs). The atmosphere of the restaurant was not noisy, so I could relax. Oden is usually associated with winter, but I want to come back in the summer!

On Sunday at 7:00 PM, I made a reservation by phone the day before and visited the restaurant. As expected of a popular place, it was full. There were many types of oden that caught my eye, such as tomato and lotus root. In addition to oden, the chanja cheese and new potato tempura were delicious! Everything was satisfyingly filling! I enjoyed eating lots of oden and even had kama-meshi, all for around 3000 yen per person. There are still more dishes I want to try, so I would like to go back again.

I have been to the two sister stores before, and this time I decided to try the kamameshi restaurant. Reservations are recommended. The complimentary dishes were turnips and potato salad. We ordered octopus with ponzu sauce, several types of oden, and the rice with yellowtail and yuzu. The cost performance is average, but all the dishes were great with no disappointments! Just be aware that the kamameshi is a bit too much for two people.

Oden daikon ¥200, tamago ¥180, negi kinchaku ¥250, ganmodoki ¥200, roll cabbage ¥350, wagyu beef tendon ¥500, jidori chicken kamameshi ¥850. The total bill for one person was a little over ¥2000. Personally, the big hits were the roll cabbage and kamameshi! The flavor of the broth permeated everything, so delicious. The wagyu beef tendon was melt-in-your-mouth tender, the daikon was soft, and the egg was soaked through. Everything was delicious. The kamameshi had the savory flavor of jidori chicken seeping through, and when I made it into ochazuke, it was irresistible. Even in the summer, the warm oden was delicious. The atmosphere was really nice, the prices were cheap, and I definitely want to go back.

I love Mr. Muro. The daikon is so delicious with its flavor soaked in, I order it every time. I tried the grilled chikuwa for the first time, and it was also delicious with its juicy flavor. The fried potatoes had a seaweed butter-like topping, which I think I've had before, but it was even more delicious this time. I usually order the seasonal kamameshi, but this time I tried the local chicken kamameshi. It was even more delicious with the broth poured over it. Oden and kamameshi are a must. For drinks, I chose the seasonal limited edition watermelon sour!

I had a craving for oden after a long time and decided to visit this popular restaurant. When I called in advance, it seemed like you needed a reservation to get in, so I made one and it was the right decision! I had beer and several types of oden. The flavors were light, allowing me to enjoy the natural taste of the ingredients. I will definitely visit again when I go to Kyoto!

My companion wanted to come here, and luckily we were able to get a table without a reservation. We enjoyed some appetizers and bottled beer while deciding what to order. We ended up getting raw octopus with ponzu sauce, simmered beef tendons, daikon radish in oden, cabbage rolls, and minced meat and pork with plenty of ginger (I forgot the name). My companion also had some hot sake. Although we didn't take many photos because it was difficult, the food was delicious. We had come with a group of five when the restaurant first opened and had a great experience, so we decided to visit again after a long time, and it did not disappoint. The restaurant was full on the day we visited, so I recommend making a reservation if you plan to visit. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

Located along the unique diagonal street of Ura-koji in Kyoto, there is an oden (Japanese hot pot) restaurant. Today, I was a bit surprised to see that the recommended menu items did not have prices listed, but I decided to order anyway, assuming they wouldn't be too different from the regular menu prices. I ordered a bottle of beer (medium size) for 600 yen, and various oden items such as daikon (280 yen), potatoes (280 yen), harimaki (pork and watercress, 500 yen), kumfu with egg (480 yen), and sakura shrimp and new onion kamameshi (rice cooked in a small pot) with prices not listed. The chopsticks were the split type, easy to use, and the plates had a nice design that would appeal to female customers. Despite the late hour, the phone kept ringing with orders and the restaurant was bustling with customers. I was lucky to have found a good timing to dine in without any wait.

Muro-san, who keeps coming back repeatedly. The dashi in all the oden dishes is delicious and deeply flavorful. Personally, the pork belly and green onion oden was the best! The fried potatoes and kamameshi (rice cooked in a small pot) besides the oden are also excellent. This restaurant is a winner with no disappointments. The variety of sake to accompany the meal is fantastic.

It was my first visit, and I was surprised at first because the menu didn't have prices listed. The oden was delicious, and the kama-meshi was especially tasty. It was oyster and ginger kama-meshi. I would love to go back and eat it again.

I visited the restaurant on Christmas. The reservation was full, so I could only get a reservation for 8:10 pm. When I entered, the interior of the restaurant was very sophisticated, especially the counter seats where you can see the kitchen right in front of you, creating a wonderful atmosphere! (Highly recommended for a date lol) The dishes I ordered this time were daikon, egg, enoki mushrooms, tsukune (chicken meatballs), tomato, and oyster kamameshi (rice cooked in an iron pot). All of them were perfectly balanced and my friend sitting next to me was also very pleased. I will definitely come back again!

The main dishes at this restaurant are oden and kamameshi, but I prefer the side menu. I like the chicken sashimi, chicken tenderloin with wasabi, squid tentacles in vinegar, and potato salad. They go well with alcohol. Oden is good too, but my stomach is not very welcoming in the middle of summer. I wonder why Chabuya-affiliated restaurants only serve bottled beer. I would like to ask the owner about the reason behind this.

I came on Monday, May 24, 2021. The interior of the restaurant is clean and calming. The daikon in the oden was soft and incredibly delicious, it was the best. The changja was also delicious, and the yam was crunchy with a great texture. My mouth was happy. I am completely satisfied and full of happiness. It warms my heart. The menu is extensive and I am very happy about it. Thank you for the meal. I will definitely go again. I will express my gratitude to all the ingredients in this world. We made a reservation for 9:00 pm and were turned away as they were fully booked, reservation is a must. The taste is based on a gentle broth, with various toppings like mustard, yuzu, yuzu pepper, cheese, and powdered cheese depending on the ingredients. There are also unique toppings like broccoli and tomato. It's hard to choose with so many options available.
