Today, after finishing up my errands in Okubo, I stopped by this place for dinner. I arrived at 5:15 PM and there were two customers already inside. I purchased a meal ticket for the following items: Pork Cutlet Curry Business Class (large size), Sausage topping, and a beer. I left at 5:40 PM. I had tried Go Go Curry before at a location in Sanjo, and it didn't leave much of an impression on me at that time. However, today I found it to be very delicious. In terms of taste and cost performance, I think it's better than a certain curry chain restaurant. If I had to point out a drawback, it would be that it's hard to gauge the amount of rice. It would be better if they indicated the weight instead of just using terms like "Business Class." Overall, it was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

Kanazawa Curry from a certain famous curry restaurant offers the best value for money. Since there is no Chancurry nearby, I always come here for curry. The photo shows toppings of shrimp fry, pork cutlet, chicken cutlet, sausage, boiled egg, with 600g of rice, all for 1650 yen!

The taste is still delicious as usual. The pork cutlet is crispy and fresh, and the cabbage is also fresh. The rice is tasty without any unpleasant smell. However, there has been a price increase, with the previous GoGo time no longer available, and even during lunchtime, it is at the regular price. Furthermore, the regular price has significantly increased, making it much more expensive than expected. Unfortunately, at this price point, I will not be returning.

There were a few parking spaces in front of the store, which was convenient. They are open until late at night, which is helpful. I purchased a meal ticket upon entering and chose a seat at the counter. This time, I had the first-class pork cutlet curry. I had dinner at Go Go Curry, a restaurant I had heard of but never been to before. I didn't know that the Kanazawa curry style is to eat with a fork. It's a great deal that you can get up to two free refills of cabbage. Go Go Curry is a chain with only 2 locations in Kyoto and 9 in Kansai. Go Go Curry Uji Okubo store, Uji City, Kyoto Prefecture, Hironocha-ya-ura 8-6.

I feel like eating Go Go Curry about twice a year. Today I had it with a business boiled egg and natto topping, just like in the previous post, because my preferences haven't changed. The rice hidden under the cabbage makes me happy, and the Kanazawa curry with hashed beef-like European-style roux pleases my curry brain. The staff accidentally dropped a piece of pork cutlet and fried it, but when they brought it over, I politely declined because I didn't notice anything wrong, but honesty is a good thing! It was delicious, thank you for the meal.

I visited the restaurant in the morning on a whim in February 2023. I ordered the Major Curry (Economy) and there was a wait of one person before me before the store opened. By opening time, there were 8 people in line. The Major Curry I ordered was served in 10 minutes and it had Chicken Cutlet, Pork Cutlet, Shrimp Fry, Sausage, and boiled egg on top. The volume was amazing and everything was freshly fried, so the coating was crispy. Each item was delicious and they all went well together with the curry. The curry itself was flavorful, not too strong, and had a widely accepted taste. The toppings, including the cutlets, had a wide range of compatibility with the curry. I would like to use this restaurant occasionally in the future.

Go Go Curry Okubo Store is a restaurant that I remember as being the first to open in Kansai. It is located on the southeast side of Kintetsu Okubo Station, across from the amusement association store under the guard. However, I have no business in Okubo and only get off the train to eat curry. It was opened in Osaka with the backing of former Governor Hashimoto, but it closed down, unable to break the stronghold of Indian curry in Osaka. Also, stores that serve Kanazawa curry are rare, with the exception of a udon restaurant located inside the amusement association paradise. In recent years, the number of Go Go Curry stores has increased, which is a good thing. The menu at Go Go Curry allows you to choose toppings and sizes freely according to your level of hunger. This time, I ordered the classic Rosukatsu Curry, Business Class (large serving), with extra cabbage. As of December 2022, the price is 850 yen including tax (100 yen off during Go Go Time). The curry sauce is rich and thick, with a medium level of spiciness and low acidity. The Rosukatsu is topped with a medium-thick sauce and is tender, similar to tonkatsu. The shredded cabbage is light and helps the meal go down easily. A fork is provided as standard, but a spoon can be provided if needed. Go Go Curry offers a standard-tasting curry, but sometimes you just crave it.

On September 20, 2022 (Tuesday) at noon, I visited "Gogo Curry Uji Okubo Store" near Kintetsu/Okubo Station. I had the Major Curry which was priced at 1,200 yen for a portion of 300g. The curry was flavorful and the tonkatsu on top was sliced thinly for easy consumption. I added my own toppings like takoyaki sauce, mayonnaise, and lots of grated garlic, making it even more delicious. The restaurant had a good taste, decent portion size, and customizable options. However, due to the distance, I probably won't visit again. After the meal, I went to "Uji Natural Hot Spring Genji no Yu" nearby to relax.

I suddenly had a craving and went to eat at a restaurant I haven't been to in a while. It's conveniently located near the station and has a parking lot, which is helpful. When I entered, I bought a meal ticket before being seated. I ordered the large size curry. My partner ordered the regular size, and even though I got the large, it seemed like the amount of curry was the same? It felt a bit disappointing, but I accepted it. I enjoyed my meal with some Fukujinzuke and white rice. I noticed on the ticket machine that there was an option to add extra curry for 200 yen, so I'll have to remember to choose that next time.

I brought my family to taste Kanazawa curry! This is only my second time trying it. Last time, I was too focused on challenging the world champion curry at another restaurant, so I didn't have time to savor it. This time, I ordered a Major Curry with cheese topping (First Class, Extra Large) for myself. My wife had a Pork Cutlet Curry (Economy, Regular), and my child had a Chicken Cutlet Curry (Economy, Regular). Even though I ordered the Extra Large size, the rice portion was 600g for me, and 300g for my wife and child. The dishes were served promptly. The Major Curry looked very appetizing with lots of ingredients piled high. It was delicious! I realized I had added cheese topping, which enhanced the flavor. The curry also went well with the cutlets. We also had red sweet pickles on the side, which I enjoyed. However, I felt that there was not enough curry sauce this time. I saw others asking for extra sauce, and now I understand why. While I was enjoying my meal, I noticed that my wife and child had finished eating before me. I also finished my dish and it was delicious. The weights of our dishes were: Major Curry (Extra Large) 1267.0g, Pork Cutlet Curry (Regular) 583.0g, Chicken Cutlet Curry (Regular) 601.5g. The curry here may seem heavy based on weight, but it fills you up quickly. Next time, I want to try it with extra sauce. I also bought frozen curry sauce as a souvenir.

This week's third curry meal has turned me into a curry addict, craving it every day. Today, I went to a nearby restaurant called #GoGoCurry and had Kanazawa curry. The dish had rice, a generous amount of curry sauce, pork cutlet, and cabbage. It was delightful to see that there was more sauce and rice underneath the cabbage. The plate itself was appetizing. Toppings included boiled egg, natto, and pickles. It was a satisfying and delicious lunch. Thank you for the meal.

During my trip from Kyoto to Nara, I stopped by here to satisfy my hunger. I was drawn by the recent reviews I saw about Mairebi-san, so I decided to give it a try. I arrived around 4 pm on a weekday, and despite the odd timing, more than half of the seats were already taken. I purchased a ticket for the "Pork Cutlet Economy Medium" at the ticket machine by the entrance, handed it to the staff, and my meal was served in about 4 minutes. The large cutlet and the pitch-black curry were quite impressive. The cutlet wasn't too thick, but it was crispy and delicately fried, with juicy and sweet pork meat. The curry wasn't very spicy but had a rich flavor that paired well with the rice. I wished there was a bit more curry sauce, though. However, the cost performance of getting a large cutlet curry for 700 yen is fantastic. Although I didn't do it today, the system of being able to get free refills of cabbage is unique and interesting. It's also convenient that there are plenty of parking spaces shared with the pachinko parlor. Next time I'm nearby, I might challenge myself to try the Major Curry. Thank you for the meal!

On August 15th (Saturday), I was in charge of cooking for lunch as usual, but today my wife was absent as she went out for lunch with her friends from her college days. Since I was eating alone, I decided to eat out. So, I chose the second largest curry chain in Japan after CoCo Ichibanya, which originated in Kanazawa, called "Go Go Curry." What is Kanazawa curry? Kanazawa curry is defined by a stainless steel plate, shredded cabbage, tonkatsu with sauce, thick curry roux, and eating with a fork. In Tokyo, there are many "Go Go Curry" restaurants, and when I was working in Tokyo, I was interested in trying it but never got the chance. I thought, "There are no Go Go Curry restaurants in Kansai..." and when I looked it up recently, I found one in Uji. Interestingly, there are stores in Hyogo, but none in Osaka. The restaurant I visited this time is located near Kintetsu Kyoto Line's "Okubo Station," but it is not very noticeable. I parked my car in the restaurant's parking lot and arrived a little after opening hours, around 11 am. When I entered the store... unexpectedly, there were only about 10 counter seats! "Oh, it's already full!" Moreover, there was already a line of three people waiting inside the store. I purchased a "Katsu Curry Economy Size (medium)" (700 yen during Go Go Time) from the ticket vending machine while waiting. After about 10 minutes, I handed the food ticket to the counter and waited. More and more customers kept coming in, and there was a line forming both inside and outside the store! Surprisingly, this store is quite popular! The katsu was fried after receiving the order. The crispy katsu was cut and served with plenty of shredded cabbage. It had a good volume. I topped it with plenty of fukujinzuke, and first took a bite of the thin katsu. It was crispy and went well with the sweet sauce. The curry was slightly sweet, but had a bit of spiciness afterwards... It was just delicious! When eaten together with the shredded cabbage, the cabbage and the curry sauce matched perfectly! You can have refills of cabbage. The portion was quite generous, and all this for 700 yen is cheap! For me, the "Healthy Size" (small) was more than enough. After sweating a bit, I finished eating and felt full! I was very satisfied. Thank you for the meal. By the time I left the restaurant, there were more than 10 people in line inside and outside the store! I wish this restaurant would open in Osaka too!

I suddenly felt like eating. It's my first time eating at this restaurant, but I used to go there a lot when I lived in Kanazawa 10 years ago. It feels nostalgic. I arrived around 3:30 pm. There were two groups of customers ahead of me. The Chicken Katsu Curry in Economy Class was ready in no time! It was just like I remembered. Even though it's been a while, it was delicious. The chicken katsu was crispy and the meat was thick. I was really hungry, but I ended up feeling full. I'm glad I didn't order the larger size (laughs). By the time I finished eating, the counter was full. It's so popular even at this time! It's cheap, filling, and delicious. The best! They also have a parking lot, so I'll definitely visit again. A long time ago, I received this gorilla curry as a souvenir from my friend Ishikawa, which led to my encounter with this gorilla. I was surprised by its deliciousness, as I don't usually eat instant curry. However, there is no store. Even though it is available overseas!! It is only found in such a niche place in Kansai, so I finally visited. It was interesting as you eat it with a fork. Yes, the curry is topped with tonkatsu, and the sound it makes is mouthwatering. But now that I've tried it, I wonder why I was so infatuated with it. The curry has definitely raised its standards. The biggest problem is that there is too little curry roux!!! In the end, it turned into just a katsudon with curry, cabbage, and rice, due to the lack of roux.

About 200 meters south from Kintetsu Okubo Station, there is a famous curry chain called Go Go Curry. It is well-known in Kanazawa, Hokuriku region. The curry is served with a dark sauce on top of it, along with crispy pork cutlet and fresh shredded cabbage. The toppings mainly consist of various types of cutlets, and the portion size is quite generous. Despite ordering less rice, the portion was still quite large. Eating with a fork was unexpectedly challenging. Despite the struggle, I managed to finish the meal. The crispy cutlets topping the curry were surprisingly more delicious than the curry itself. It was a unique curry rice experience.

"Rosukatsu curry (economy class) for 680 yen. The taste was bland and unimpressive, I couldn't understand what was supposed to be delicious about it. I think the curry at school or work cafeterias is tastier. Also, there was not enough curry sauce, so after eating, it felt more like I had eaten tonkatsu and rice rather than curry. It's been a long time since I've been so disappointed by a meal. Needless to say, I won't be coming back here again."

On May 5th, I went to celebrate "Go Go Curry's birthday" around 12 o'clock. There was a long line outside due to the holiday and the free topping coupon for 5 pieces. I ordered the Rosukatsu Curry Business Class (890 yen ➡️ Go Go Time 790 yen) at the ticket machine. I also got the Major Curry Business Class (1150 yen) and waited for about 20 minutes to enter. The Major Curry had Rosukatsu, Chicken Katsu, Ebi Fry, Sausage, and a boiled egg, very filling. I regretted not getting the Business Class (520g) instead of the Economy (350g) because the curry in Kanazawa Curry needs to be eaten well to be enough. Later, I revisited and got the Rosukatsu Curry Economy (680 yen) with extra toppings (200 yen). The toppings were crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, very delicious. This time, I felt that the amount was enough even in the Economy size, maybe because of the lack of curry from last time? I wondered if the amount of curry changes depending on the rice portion. In conclusion, go for the Rosukatsu Curry during Go Go Time, and adding extra curry makes it even tastier.

I felt like having Go Go Curry for the first time in years, so I decided to visit in June 2019. I found out that this is the only store in Kyoto prefecture. Luckily, it is located near my commuting route so I was familiar with the place. You buy a ticket from the machine and eat at the counter. The food was served quickly. The regular spiciness of the curry was mild, but the sauce had a rich flavor. The combination of the cutlet and cabbage was great, and I couldn't stop eating. While thick cutlets may be preferred at a tonkatsu restaurant, this is a curry place. I think a slightly thinner cutlet works better with the curry, as it doesn't overwhelm the balance of flavors in your mouth. The limited opening hours make it a bit challenging, but I definitely want to make time to visit again.
