Today, I visited the "Shiden Cafe" in Shimogyo-ku, Kyoto City. It's a cafe that is set up inside a whole train car, and I went there specifically to try their "Tsuruwa Pan" bread. The cafe is located in Umekoji Park, right next to the Kyoto Aquarium. Inside the park, there is a small train that runs, and even the park's information center is designed like a train. I had the option to just buy the Tsuruwa Pan and leave, but I also decided to order a strawberry shaved ice since it was a really hot day. The Tsuruwa Pan comes in different flavors, but I chose the most popular one, which is the Sugar flavor. The second picture in the post is what I purchased. The first picture shows the Tsuruwa Pan hanging in the cafe. It's like a light rusk, not too hard as I initially thought from the name "Kata Kata Tsuruwa Pan." It was a nice treat.

Today, I finally visited the tram café in Umekoji Park in Kyoto that I've been wanting to go to for a long time. I bought the strap bread that I've been craving for, and it had a retro and stylish atmosphere. It was not crowded even on a weekday, so I was able to relax. The bread I bought this time was a sugar bread that was a bit hard to break by hand. But it looks cute and I think it would make a nice gift. I recommend you to visit this café and take a break on the train for free. There is also a parking lot nearby. The strap bread was 300 yen each. They have various flavors besides sugar bread, so try buying your favorite strap bread! ❤️

Today, I stopped by the Tram Cafe for a coffee break. The atmosphere is amazing. It's perfect for those who love old things. It felt like a scene from "The Twilight Samurai". The atmosphere alone was really great. By the way, I bought a strap bread and hung it on the strap inside the cafe! It was possible because there were few customers on a weekday, but if it's crowded, someone might end up holding the strap! LOL

◯The soft serve ice cream is incredibly delicious! As someone who loves soft serve ice cream, it was like a divine food for me. The soft serve ice cream here is really delicious.
◯It's fun to take pictures pretending to be on a train.
◯The strap bread isn't tasty, but it's fun to play with.
◯It's cool inside the train.
◯It's fun when there's no one else on the train.
◯The parking lot next to Family Mart is the closest and cheapest! You can park from spot 12 to 25 for only 800 yen a day.
◯Ah, it's so much fun!

In Kyoto, there is a retro tram cafe located in Umekoji Park called "Shiden Cafe (Shiden Hiroba)". They offer a hanging bread that looks like a strap and comes in chocolate or strawberry chocolate flavors. You can enjoy swinging it like a real strap while eating it! The bread is quite hard like hardtack, so having a drink is a must. You can enjoy it in the retro atmosphere inside the tram, while cherry blossom viewing in the nearby Umekoji Park, or even at home with a drink. Umekoji Park is spacious and perfect for cherry blossom viewing or picnics!

Cafe Kururu is a cafe run by a woman in her 20s. The cafe is located inside a train, and they serve a unique dish called "tsuriwa" that you can actually eat! There are 5 different flavors, and they are quite firm. It might be dangerous for kids to eat them. I noticed that the soft serve ice cream for kids looked really good with a lot of toppings. The texture of the tsuriwa bread is crispy and moist, with a mild sweetness. If you want to compare flavors, the chocolate one is recommended! You can enjoy the chocolate part and the plain part separately, which is interesting. Personally, I thought the cinnamon flavor was delicious! It had a subtle cinnamon taste and was not too rich, making it easy to eat!

This time, I went on a mini trip to Kyoto for 1 night and 2 days with 4 grandchildren for a spring break camp with recreational outdoor activities. We stayed at Umekoji Potel Kyoto. We explored the area, visited the Kyoto Aquarium, Kyoto Railway Museum, and other facilities nearby. During our walk, we stumbled upon a streetcar cafe. The most eye-catching item was the rattling round bread. They had various flavors like sugar, rock salt, cinnamon, coarse sugar, chocolate, and sesame. We got a set of 5 for a good deal at 1350 yen. This time, we only ordered drinks. The kids had milk, and I had a hojicha latte to go. They use hojicha from Kyoto for a fragrant tea latte with milk, and it was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

I visited this cafe located in the north part of Umekoji Park, at the Tram Plaza, Kyoto. It is situated west of the Kyoto Aquarium. The cafe is inside a dome-shaped roof where four Kyoto tram cars are preserved - one as the cafe, one as a shop, and two as free spaces. The cafe area has a retro vibe with tables for two and counter seats. I ordered the "Kata Kata hanging bread set of 3 for 800 yen (Christmas special price)", "Original pork bun for 480 yen" x2, and "Iced coffee for 430 yen" x2. The hanging bread was fun and shaped like a tram's hanging strap, with various flavors to choose from. The pork bun was tasty but could use more flavor. The iced coffee was average. Overall, it was a unique experience to enjoy the hanging bread in a tram car setting. Great for railway enthusiasts.

This is a takeout shop located inside Umekoji Park that uses a streetcar. In addition to drinks, they also offer snacks like leather strap donuts. In recent years, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it has not been available for use, but once things return to normal, you can enjoy the atmosphere of dining inside the streetcar as well.

I went on Saturday afternoon. After visiting the Kyoto Railway Museum, I strolled around the park. I stopped by this café where they sell edible train-shaped wafers. I haven't eaten them yet, so I haven't rated them. The café uses a whole train car, which I found interesting.

Today, I visited Umekoji Park near Nijo Omiya and decided to stop by the Cafe Tram, which I had visited before. Cafe Tram is a cafe that has reused the old streetcars that used to run in Kyoto. It has been renovated to have a dining car-like atmosphere. Their specialty is the "Tsuriwa Pan," shaped like a hanging ring. They also offer soft serve ice cream made with Miyama milk and hot dogs that evoke a nostalgic Showa era feel. They have clear pricing for both takeout and eat-in options. I decided to eat inside the cafe (tram) to enjoy the retro Showa atmosphere. Inside, the unique Tsuriwa Pan was displayed alongside real hanging rings. The Tsuriwa Pan comes in four flavors: sugar, rock salt, sesame, and cinnamon. I tried the sugar flavor, which was quite hard and unique. I enjoyed it with an iced coffee. Overall, I felt like I was at an interesting retro cafe with a tram concept.

The tram has been turned into a cafe called "Tram Cafe". It was bustling with families during Golden Week. The inside of the tram has been transformed into a seating area, which got the train-loving kids very excited. We ordered the "Katakata Tsuriwapan (¥270)" for takeout. It comes in 5 flavors: sugar, cinnamon, coarse sugar, rock salt, and sesame. I tried the sugar flavor. As the name suggests, the bread is extremely hard, but with just the right amount of sweetness, it makes for a perfect snack size. It also looks great for photos.

Located within Umekoji Park, a 10-minute walk from Kyoto Station, this area has been developed for commercial purposes by JR. You can enjoy viewing plum blossoms in the park and watching the running SL train. It's a great spot to take a break. The tram has been transformed into a cafe where you can purchase items and eat inside the tram. I tried the "Katakata Hanging Strap Bread" for 270 yen, along with a coffee. There are various flavors available, and I chose cinnamon. Inside the old tram, you can find nostalgic posters and figurines, making you feel like you've traveled back in time at the tram cafe. There are also hotels like Umekoji Porte Kyoto nearby, so it might be a good idea to stay here when sightseeing in Kyoto. Thank you for the meal.

In Umekoji Park, there is a tram cafe converted from a streetcar at the City Tram Square. Out of the 4 trams, one is a cafe, one is a tram shop selling goods, and the remaining two are resting areas. The signature menu item is the "Katakata Tsuriwa Pan", which is a bread shaped like a hanging strap that comes in 5 flavors including chocolate and nori soy sauce, as well as limited-time flavors. Besides snacks and desserts, they also offer a variety of items like beer. Since it was hot, they recommended the "Kyoto Nanairo Soft Cream" made with milk from Kyoto Miyama and featuring ingredients from the Kyoto-based traditional store "Mamefu Honpo". They also have shaved ice, hot dogs, popcorn, and a wide range of menu options. *Due to the impact of COVID-19, they are currently only offering takeout service.

Before going to the railway museum, I stopped by for some soft cream made with Biyama milk. The atmosphere was filled with elements that would turn anyone into a railway enthusiast even before entering the museum. The Biyama milk soft cream was delicious with a perfect balance of sweetness. Thanks to this delightful treat, my visit to the railway museum was a truly enjoyable experience.

After enjoying the cool Kyoto Aquarium, still feeling the summer sun outside. I felt like having something cold. I found a streetcar cafe near the aquarium. The cafe is designed like a streetcar. I ordered a Nanairo Soft Serve Ice Cream for 400 yen from the girl inside the "train". The rich soft serve ice cream with crispy rice cracker toppings was delightful.

Located between the Kyoto Railway Museum and the aquarium, this cafe converted from a Kyoto City tram is a must-visit for train enthusiasts. You can enjoy taking photos on the tram or browse through train-themed merchandise. During the hot summer months, it's a great place to cool off and treat yourself to some soft serve ice cream, although prices might be a bit higher due to its touristy location. Overall, it's a fun and refreshing experience, and the delicious ice cream makes it worth it. Thank you for the meal!

Next to Kyoto Aquarium, there is an old-fashioned nostalgic train car selling various sweets. I tried the Kyoto Nanairo Soft Cream, which is made with Miyama milk and topped with colorful rice crackers. The crispy texture of the rice crackers complements the soft serve ice cream perfectly.

I visited during the cherry blossom season on a weekday around 12:40 pm. I was able to buy it right away. This post is based on an old draft, and the second menu image was taken in December 2021. I tried the "Kata Kata Tsuriwapan" for 270 yen with cinnamon. There was a note saying it was hard, and it was indeed very hard. It had a rich flavor, but the hardness was no joke (laughs).

On the way from the Railway Museum to the Kyoto Aquarium, I encountered two train cars that had been turned into shops. The one on the right was selling miscellaneous goods, while the one on the left was a shop that caught my attention. Despite the cold weather, the smiles of the penguin keepers warmed my heart. I couldn't resist the temptation of the sign that read "Pork Buns". Worried that they might be sold out by the evening, I was relieved to find that they were still available. The pork bun had a soft, fluffy white exterior that was so inviting. When I bit into it, the dough was soft and pillowy with a delicious filling inside. I enjoyed it with some mustard. Even just the dough alone was tasty. The filling was also delicious, making me feel happy. It warmed my body up as well.

Located in Kyōto, Kankiji-chō, the tram cafe inside Umekoji Park is easy to spot as it is near the Kyōto Railway Museum and the Kyōto Aquarium. The cafe used to be a tram that ran in Kyōto until 1978. A recommended treat is the soft serve ice cream made with Miyama milk. They also offer a unique item called "Katakata Tsuriwa Pan," which is edible strap bread! It looks interesting and makes a good souvenir. Although it tastes like regular bread, kids will surely love it.
