I stopped by at Hourinji Temple for a little break. Despite the cherry blossom season, Arashiyama was crowded, but this place was almost empty. It was a relaxing space. I ordered at the entrance, paid, and soon got my cake set. You have to drip the decaf yourself! The vegan sweets were delicious, rich in flavor yet refreshing. I was surprised by how tasty they were. I wanted to get matcha or hojicha cheesecake to go on my way back from the temple, but they were closing early that day, so I had to give up. My daughter said, "I looked it up, and it seems like you can buy them on Rakuten!" - a tempting suggestion! I would love to go back to Arashiyama just to have these cakes again. The cake set was around 1,000 yen, which was reasonable. ✨

I had lunch at Musubi Cafe and decided to take out some cakes afterwards. It was nice to see the pastry chef making the cakes with care. The ingredients used were carefully selected, making the cakes different from the usual ones. They are dense but not heavy, with a gentle and natural taste. I would love to buy them again. (I forgot to take a photo, but the nut and dried fruit tart, cheesecake, and chocolate gateau were also delicious.) I would like to take a break and enjoy them in the store next time.

During the peak autumn season, Arashiyama is crowded everywhere. When I was about to become a café refugee, I discovered this place a little off the beaten path. The spacious interior and plush leather sofas allow you to relax comfortably. However, you have to make your own drip coffee. I wish the staff would make it for you.
