Today's dinner was my second visit to "Menya Rennosuke" in Kitano Shiro-umecho. They recently started serving cold noodles, so I decided to give it a try. I ordered the "Cold Whole Tomato Ramen," the "Limited Char Siu Don," and also the "Nine-Leaf Onion Dumplings" as a side dish. Oh, they have more side menu options now compared to my last visit. I'll also have the "Plum Carbonated Juice," please. While sipping on the plum juice, I waited for my dishes to arrive. First, the omelette was served. It was fluffy with a rich dashi flavor. I could taste the natural umami of the eggs as well. Next, the ramen arrived. The broth had a strong kelp flavor with hints of bonito. The seasoning was slightly sweeter compared to the hot version, and they didn't add the aromatic oil for the cold noodles. The kelp flavor really stood out, and I personally preferred this version. The noodles were chewy and thin straight noodles. The toppings included a whole tomato, char siu, bell peppers, bonito flakes, and shiso leaves. The acidity of the tomato contrasted well with the sweetness of the broth. The tender pork loin char siu was delicious, and the char siu don was also satisfying. I learned from the person who seemed to be the manager that they trained at "Menya Ichi" before opening this place. Truly a skilled chef with a great pedigree. I'll definitely come back if I have the chance. Thank you for the meal.

Today's plan to visit a famous ramen shop was cancelled due to a problem with the shop manager. While looking for something nearby, I discovered a stylish ramen shop recommended on my favorite website, Kyoto Topi. Located in the Nishijin area, amidst the sound of weaving machines, it was quite difficult to find. I ordered the Chashu ramen with a flavorful broth for 1500 yen, a unique tomato cold noodles with a different broth for 1200 yen, a charcoal-grilled pork bowl for 650 yen, and a pudding for 650 yen, totaling 4000 yen. It's not just about the price or the atmosphere, but this ramen shop caters to a gourmet crowd with a slightly older age group. The food was incredibly delicious! They also offer some side dishes, but I decided to pass on them this time. I would love to indulge in a night out, enjoying some drinks, having a light dish, and finishing with a bowl of ramen. Sounds like a luxurious experience!

A stylish hidden ramen shop known to those in the know! I was able to get in without waiting on a Sunday at 2:30 PM. The unexpectedly stylish atmosphere lifted my mood! We ordered: - Ramen (1,000 yen) - Char siu ramen (1,500 yen) - Charcoal-grilled pork bowl (650 yen) - Homemade sweet pudding with Japanese sugar (650 yen) Pork was grilled on a shichirin, creating an exciting live experience with a great aroma! The dashi used in the ramen is made without chemical seasonings or preservatives, blending kombu and multiple types of bonito flakes to create a flavorful taste that shows their dedication. When you combine the three types of shichimi on the table with the dashi, the taste of the broth that enhances any ingredients stands out and tastes delicious. Personally, the best part was the char siu ramen, where the umami and oil from the pork mixed perfectly with the broth and shichimi. The charcoal-grilled pork bowl made with delicious pork was visually stunning and satisfying even when full. And the pudding, with its gentle and fragrant homemade flavor, was also delightful. The cozy interior and gentle, delicious flavors made for a satisfying and comfortable experience!

[Date] August 27, 2023 (Sunday) 5:30 PM [Food Rating] 3.11 [Wait Time] None [Number of People] 1 person [Service] Excellent [Will Visit Again] Yes [Payment Method] Cash [Turnover] Fast A hidden, stylish restaurant with a cozy atmosphere. The ramen had thin, straight noodles topped with rare pork (2 slices), white leeks, and komatsuna (Japanese mustard spinach). The soy-based soup was mellow and flavorful, complementing the noodles well. The komatsuna was cooked perfectly and delicious. Be careful not to let the rare chashu sit too long or it will overcook. Overall, the dish was well-balanced and tasty. The three types of shichimi pepper in the custom set each had a different flavor, and my favorite was from Kyoto, Shichimiya Honpo. Ramen: 1,000 yen

Located in a residential area in Kyoto's Nishijin district, this place has been a popular spot since its opening in April 23 years ago. From the outside, it looks like an ordinary building, but stepping inside, you are greeted by a stylish interior reminiscent of a theater. The omelette on the menu caught my eye, with its perfect fluffiness and rich dashi flavor. The ramen, with its soy sauce-based soup and medium-thick noodles, gave me the sensation of eating soba noodles. Lastly, I indulged in a deliciously shaped and flavorful Japanese sugar pudding. Another day of happiness through good food. Thank you for the feast.

I visited a ramen restaurant in the Nishijin area of Kyoto after a long time. Noodle Shop Nenokosuke is a ramen shop located in a quiet residential area near Kitano Tenmangu Shrine. They use high-quality ingredients and do not use animal-based broth, which sets them apart from other ramen shops. The interior is stylish and features an open kitchen where you can watch the chefs cook, giving it a lively atmosphere. The menu has been slightly updated since its opening, with summer limited-time dishes and side dishes added. Ramen starts at 1,000 yen per bowl, and with side dishes, you can enjoy a meal for less than 2,000 yen. This time, I tried the "Cold Tomato Cold Noodles." The Cold Tomato Cold Noodles came with cold ramen topped with chashu, tomato, shiso leaves, bell pepper, and bonito flakes. The whole tomato was cut into quarters and placed on top, creating a visually striking dish. The soup had a light and savory flavor with a hint of bonito. It was refreshing and perfect for cooling down on a hot summer day. The chopped shiso leaves added a refreshing touch. The noodles were cold and had a good texture, made from 100% homemade noodles using "Setokirara" from Kyoto. The tomato was also cold and added a nice acidity to the dish. The chashu, made from aged "Kyoto Buta," was thinly sliced and had a delicious fatty flavor. I also tried the limited-time Chashu Don, which featured rice cooked in a Iga-Koga clay pot and topped with diced chashu. The chashu was flavorful and satisfying. Overall, I enjoyed my meal at Noodle Shop Nenokosuke. The attention to detail in the ingredients and the cozy atmosphere make it a place I would like to visit regularly.

I had ramen at Menya Rennosuke before eating pudding. Menya Rennosuke is located in a renovated old house in Kyoto, with elements of traditional Kyoto architecture like earth walls preserved as part of the stylish interior. The ramen is a Kyoto-style Japanese ramen made with smooth seafood flavors (2 types of kelp, mackerel flakes, urume flakes, Ibuki iriko), and it was extremely delicious! #MenyaRennosuke #KyotoCityGourmet #Kyoto #KyotoGourmet #KyotoRamen #SeafoodRamen #Ramen #KitanoHakubaicho #KitanoHakubaichoGourmet #JapaneseStyleRamen #Noodles #Noodlestagram #Noodlegrammer #NoodleInstagram #LaRamen #拉麺

Hello. I'm Keinsuke. Today, I would like to introduce a ramen restaurant called "Menya Nen-nosuke" located in the Kitano Tenmangu area. I had heard that you can enjoy a seriously delicious pudding made by a ramen shop, and I had been wanting to check it out for a while. The location is a bit hard to get to, being near Kitano Tenmangu Shrine. If you go by train, you can take the train to "Kitano Hakubaicho" or "Kurama-guchi" stations. It's a bit of a walk from the station, so taking a bus might be a good option too. Searching for the restaurant using Google Maps, I found that it's quite hidden in a residential area with many similar traditional Kyoto houses lined up along the narrow streets, making it easy to get lost. There are no clear signs either, so be careful not to miss it! However, the hidden gem feeling adds a nice touch. I visited before 2 pm, and there were few customers, allowing me to relax comfortably. The interior of the restaurant, renovated from a traditional Kyoto house, is very stylish and cool. It has a modern atmosphere that makes you want to visit even for a date. <FOOD> ◎Wambo Pudding (650 yen) I have tried puddings from various places, but this one is priced a bit higher compared to others. However, this high price tag gives me confidence that it must be worth it, raising my expectations. The pudding, served on a special Shimizu-yaki plate, is surprisingly large in size. It's a dessert pudding, so I thought it would be small, but it's quite substantial. The pudding competes solely on the taste of its ingredients, without relying on ice cream, cream, or vanilla. Made with Miyama milk and Wambo sugar, it has an elegant flavor. The caramel has a mild bitterness and a gentle sweetness that spreads in your mouth. The smooth texture goes down your throat smoothly. ◎Ramen (1000 yen) The bowl is also beautiful and fits perfectly with the restaurant's atmosphere. The broth is based on "kombu" and "iriko" with added "katsuobushi," "urume-bushi," and "saba-bushi." The soy sauce is from Tatsuno, Hyogo Prefecture, and the kombu and katsuobushi are from Aichi Prefecture. The roasted pork is made with Kyoto's Mochi pork char siu. The homemade noodles have a crispy texture, made by blending four types of wheat. <Summary> It's rare to find a ramen shop that puts so much effort into pudding, so I highly recommend it to all pudding lovers. By the way, there is also an udon shop called "Bunsuke" nearby that serves pudding, so I want to visit there next time. Thank you for the meal. <Points> Customer base: ■1 male, ■2 males, ■1 female, ■2 females, ■students, ■families, ■seniors, ■couples, ■office workers Age: ■10-20s, ■30-50s, ■60s and above Remarks: private rooms, scenery, power outlets, WiFi, waiting in line, reservation recommended, near the station, Instagrammable, quiet, long stay allowed, fun, hidden gem *Please note that the information is based on the visit at that time.

Gourmet lovers ♡⃛ a must-see! You absolutely have to visit here!! A stylish and incredibly beautiful ramen restaurant run by the owner #Taito Rennosuke, who trained at a Michelin Guide-listed restaurant that just opened in April 2023 in Kyoto, Kitano Hakubaicho. #MenyaRennosuke@_r.kyoto_ #Cold Tomato Ramen I fell in love with this visual at first sight︎ and was so curious about what kind of restaurant it is! I finally had the chance to visit the other day. A stylish space where you can enjoy a refined and elegant Japanese-style ramen ▷▶▷ Watch the video, check it out! Renovated from a Kyoto #oldfolkhouse, showcasing the traditional mud walls of a Kyoto machiya, creating a sophisticated and beautiful space that doesn't look like a ramen shop at all. The attention to detail in each dish's presentation, as well as the custom-made Kiyomizu ware bowls, is impressive❣️ As someone who loves beautiful things and spaces, everything I saw was fresh and inspiring, and I was moved by their sophisticated world view✨✨ -----------------------------︎ ✧How does it taste?︎ ✧Cold Tomato Ramen Toppings include tomatoes, bell peppers, chashu, bonito flakes, and large leaves. The tomatoes are pleasantly chilled, while the bell peppers are hot. (Their attention to temperature range is also wonderful) The soup has a gentle Kyoto-like flavor. The umami of kombu and the aroma of bonito flakes with a slightly sweet soy sauce. It's not heavy at all and can be eaten smoothly♡ The noodles are homemade, blending a straight noodle "Haruyutaka・Haruyokoi・Kyoto wheat" with a "Dura" blend for a chewy texture. The balance between the natural ingredients and the noodles and soup was exquisite♡⃛ The collaboration with the famous Wasanbon pudding bowl is beautiful︎ (you'll want to gaze at it for a while) The taste is like a traditional "homemade pudding." You can feel their dedication to the ingredients✨ They use Shinzan milk for the pudding. They express a natural sweetness with "Wasanbon," a gentle sweetness sugar from ancient Japan. I was surprised that even the spoon was thoroughly chilled. Their dedication to temperature range is truly amazing! They also have other dishes such as seared chashu and grilled Manjushage and shiitake mushrooms✨✨ For sake, they have a wonderful selection from Tsuki no Katsura, the oldest sake brewery in Fushimi, Kyoto, filled with the owner's dedication. It's a restaurant that will make you want to go back again and again♡ Next time, I want to try the warm ramen with Kujo green onions and dashi omurice↑ I definitely recommend gourmet lovers to go and try it out‪#kyotogourmet #kyototrip#kyotonoodles #kyotofood #kyototrip #Kyoto Gourmet #Kyoto Ramen #Kyoto Ramen Club #Kyoto Ramen Tour #Kyoto Lunch #Menya Rennosuke #Cold Ramen #Kyoto Ramen #Kyoto Gourmet #Kitano Hakubaicho Gourmet #Kitano Hakubaicho Ramen #Tomato Ramen #Wasanbon Pudding #Hidden Gem Restaurant #Stylish Space

As you can see from the menu, this restaurant is all about focusing on high-quality ingredients. The noodles, soup, and toppings are all refined and elegant in taste. A unique feature is that they offer pudding for dessert, which is rare for a ramen shop. With seating at the counter, you can enjoy a luxurious dining experience while watching the staff's graceful movements.

"Raamen" and "Charcoal-grilled pork bowl" The business style has changed for the first time. Although the interior is the same as before, the ramen has changed significantly, with a sharp soy sauce flavor. The thin but juicy chashu is excellent. And the charcoal-grilled pork bowl... incredibly delicious. Among the side dishes at ramen shops, it might be a shock after Yahachi's mediocre rice. Getting a punch from an unexpected place boosts the excitement. From delicious ramen to the pork bowl... the best combination. Kyoto is fun.

I arrived around 11:20 am on Sunday, May 28, 2023, and had to wait until the restaurant opened. I was the first in line when I arrived, but four people lined up behind me, so by the time I finished eating and left, there was a bit of a wait. I sat at the designated counter seat and ordered ramen. It only took about 5 minutes for the ramen to be served! The ramen was made with a fish-based broth, and it was delicious. It had a bit of added oil, but the broth was flavorful! The straight-up soy sauce flavor was also good. The thin noodles, green vegetables, and low-temperature cooked chashu were delicious! It was a Japanese-style ramen with a straightforward taste.

Menya Rennosuke Food Log Rating: 3.08 (as of posting date) "Ramen (¥1000) and Charcoal-grilled Pork Bowl (¥650)" Points A ramen shop that opened just one month ago (opened on 4/6/2023) The owner trained at a Michelin Guide-listed restaurant for 5 years. The ramen, reminiscent of soba with a strong seafood broth, is not only delicious but also offers appetizers and pudding. The menu includes explanations of the ingredients, and the dishes are made without artificial seasonings, focusing on quality ingredients. With a stylish interior and easy-to-eat portions, it is recommended for women as well. [Explanation/Impression] This ramen shop in Nishijin, which opened in April 2023, is different from typical ramen shops with its chic interior. You can enjoy the taste of the ingredients while feeling their commitment, or use it as an izakaya with alcohol and appetizers. The ramen has a light seafood-based soup made with ingredients such as mackerel and urume flakes, allowing you to enjoy the taste of the ingredients almost as they are, making it the best soup to taste the flavor of the chashu and the wheatiness of the noodles. The charcoal-grilled pork bowl is seared upon order and served on rice cooked in an earthen pot, and it was also exquisite! Being light and not too voluminous, even those with small appetites can easily enjoy it! Thank you for the meal. [Business Hours] 11:30-14:30, 17:30-21:30 Closed: Irregularly

A shop in a back alley. You might not notice it if you overlook the sign. Stylish interior, with only a counter and a spacious kitchen in front of you. You can enjoy watching the cooking process. 😊 - Ramen ¥1,000 - Charcoal-grilled pork bowl ¥650 - Kujo green onion dashi omurice ¥500 The ramen shines brightly under the lighting. It has a nice scent of seafood broth. The noodles made from Kyoto wheat have a good texture, similar to soba. The soft chashu was also delicious. The pork being seared in front of you was amazing, with the sauce mixing well with the egg yolk. Couldn't stop eating. The omurice with plenty of dashi and green onions was also delicious. Everything was great. I want to eat here again. 😊 Thank you for the meal. ✨

I arrived at the restaurant after getting lost for a while! The interior of the restaurant doesn't look like a typical ramen shop, but it has a lot of unique touches. I ordered the chashu ramen and charcoal-grilled pork bowl. The pork bowl is grilled over charcoal after you order it. The ramen is light but still has a good flavor, and it was the first time in a while that I thought "delicious!" The chashu ramen is a bit expensive with a 500 yen upgrade, but it's really delicious. I think I'll order the chashu ramen again next time.

The soup, noodles, and chashu were all delicious. The pork bowl was tasty, but the ratio of rice to toppings was a bit off, with a large egg yolk throwing off the balance. While I understand the emphasis on quality rice, I felt that the prices for rice dishes were a bit high. I wanted to try the pudding, but overall, items other than ramen seemed a bit pricey, making me hesitate. I will come back, but maybe just for ramen and rice (for 1300 yen).

I felt a strong dedication to both the noodles and the soup. The noodles had pasta flour in them, giving them a smooth texture. The soup had a Japanese-style flavor similar to soba. They matched perfectly and were very delicious! The side dishes of pork bowl and pudding were also amazing. The location of the restaurant may be a bit hard to find, but it's worth a visit.

A ramen shop located in a residential area without any signs. The interior is stylish and doesn't look like a typical ramen shop, more like Italian or French. They use carefully selected ingredients and do not use any artificial seasonings, resulting in a gentle flavor. The aroma of Ryuno soy sauce is delightful, and you can savor every last drop. Their ramen with homemade noodles costs 1000 yen. The rich flavor is created by natural ingredients, with a gradual delivery of aroma, texture, and umami. It's deeply delicious.

The fifth and final stop on the Kyoto expedition was Ramenya Rennosuke, which opened on April 6th. The restaurant has a stylish, bar-like atmosphere with no visible signboard, brick walls, and jazz music playing. The interior is tastefully decorated with an open kitchen. The menu focuses on ramen, with a variety of enticing side dishes available. The soup is made without animal products, giving it a Japanese-style flavor with a pleasant aroma of ingredients like iriko (dried sardines). The soup is also suitable for vegans. The noodles are a blend of four types of homemade noodles, including spring-rich, spring-love, Kyoto wheat, and seasonal durum wheat. The texture is similar to soba noodles, with a firm and satisfying bite. The simple presentation of the ramen is well-balanced and elegant, providing a comforting and refined Japanese-style ramen experience. In addition to ramen, the restaurant also offers alcohol and other dishes, making it a versatile dining option. The dishes are served in beautiful Shimizu-yaki pottery. Located in a narrow alley in a residential area, the restaurant has a hidden and popular atmosphere. It was not crowded when I visited, allowing for a leisurely and enjoyable dining experience. Overall, it was a healthy and enjoyable ramen adventure, perfect for exploring while cycling.

A hidden gem in a residential street, this shop uses a soy sauce and bonito broth for their noodles, similar to udon broth. The noodles are slightly thick, and the chashu is thinly sliced pork. The broth is light and perfect for those who enjoy seafood-based ramen. At 1000 yen per bowl, it may seem a bit expensive. Personally, I prefer tonkotsu and chicken broth, so I found it a bit lacking.

A new ramen shop has opened in a narrow alley where cars cannot enter in a residential area. From the outside, you cannot tell it's a ramen shop. The interior has a stylish bar-like atmosphere with jazz music playing. I ordered the ramen for 1000 yen and the charcoal-grilled pork rice bowl for 650 yen. The noodles are a blend of four types of wheat: Harukayutaka, Haruyoko, Kyoto wheat, and durum wheat for pasta. The homemade noodles have a rich aroma and a good texture. The broth is made from two types of kombu, two types of dried fish, and added bonito and urume flakes. It's like a cross between soba and ramen. The ingredients are good quality, but it's a bit too refined and leaves you wanting more. The charcoal-grilled pork rice bowl has a delicious sauce that is not too sweet.
