Today, I came to Ramen Fukumon in Fukakusa because I was interested in the Mapo Tianjin Donburi that I saw on the internet. The rich ramen here tasted similar to a popular rich ramen chain, and it was delicious. Fukumon Ramen, 4-81 Fukakusa Nishinoracho, Fushimi-ku, Kyoto City, Kyoto.

Rich and flavorful ramen from a Chinese restaurant near the regular lodging. It reminded me of a certain famous ramen chain's version. The broth is available in both rich and light options. The taste is a bit stronger in chicken flavor compared to the famous chain, with slightly thicker and firmer noodles. For 680 yen, you get 3 slices of chashu and a seasoned egg, making it a good value and delicious ramen.

The knife-cut noodles were made spicy. Many shops were closed during Obon. I ordered the knife-cut noodles with extra spiciness, along with gyoza and fried chicken as appetizers. The original noodles were similar to Tenkaippin, but the appetizers were priced like Osho. The taste was surprisingly milder than expected, considering the Chinese flavors. The level of spiciness was moderate and easy to eat. There were plenty of vegetables in the dish. It was just the right amount of spiciness for the hot summer in Kyoto.

Today, I came here. This ramen shop is located in the competitive ramen area of Kyoto, along the Shidan Kaido in Fukakusa. The interior has a high ceiling with exposed concrete walls, a kitchen at the back, 5 counter seats on the right, and 5 small and large table seats in the center to the left. It seems to be run by a middle-aged couple. The menu mainly focuses on "rich" and "light" ramen, with set meals and a wide range of Chinese dishes from 5 pm in the evening. It feels more like a casual Chinese restaurant rather than a ramen specialty shop. I ordered the "Rich Fried Rice Set (rich)" with thin noodles. First, the fried rice arrived, followed shortly by the ramen. The yellow, cloudy soup had a rich flavor with a lot of momiji leaves and a hint of chicken fat. The soy sauce in the soup was also noticeable, giving it a solid taste, reminiscent of "Ten-ichi & Ten-ten-yuu." The thin straight noodles went well with the thick soup and were well-coated. The toppings included 3 tender slices of pork, bamboo shoots, half a seasoned egg, and green onions. The fried rice was crispy and well-seasoned, not in a mini portion but a regular size. The flavor was solid and fragrant. The pickled ginger served on the side was a great palate cleanser. I left some of the ramen soup as it was too heavy in this heat. Overall, both dishes left a better impression than I had imagined. Next time, I'll try the mapo rice. Good service. Thank you for the meal. Accessibility: wheelchair-friendly, washlet at the back of the counter, no parking available.

"Fukumon Ramen in Fushimi Ward, Kyoto offers a rich ramen for 680 yen. I visited because I heard it was similar to Tenkaippin. While it does have the Tenkaippin feel, it's not as rich as Tenkaippin's version, but rather a mellow and rich style. The noodles are medium-thin with a slight wave, and a bit on the firm side. I personally prefer them a bit softer. Toppings include green onions, menma, half a flavored egg, and chashu. Considering all this for 680 yen, it's quite a good deal. Plus, the daily lunch special is only 850 yen, making it even more cost-effective. Cashless payment available: PayPay. I came to this area to buy motorcycle parts and decided to visit "Ichibanboshi Fujimori Store" on the way, but there was a notice of temporary closure due to the state of emergency. I had been wondering if they had relocated, and finally visited the place. I ordered the rich ramen (regular size) and realized later that I had ordered the same menu before they moved 8 years ago. The ramen came with char siu pork, bamboo shoots, and green onions. The thick chicken bone soy sauce broth had a good viscosity and the chicken flavor was prominent. The thin straight noodles had a nice wheat aroma and paired well with the thick broth. The char siu pork had a good balance of saltiness but was a bit tough, I would have preferred it to be more tender. The bamboo shoots had a unique taste, making me wonder if they were homemade. I finished the ramen smoothly and wished they had more variety of condiments on the table.

I went to Ramen Kassai the other day and as I passed by the restaurant today, I couldn't help but feel drawn back in. The special for today is Ma Po Tianjin rice, which I decided to try. I ordered the ramen with thick noodles and a rich broth, but it turned out to be thin noodles instead. The soup had a strong gelatinous texture and lacked depth in flavor. The chashu was tender but lacked seasoning. The Ma Po Tianjin rice had a complexly layered egg and a heavy, slightly spicy sauce with minced meat. Overall, the dishes were not bad but felt a bit lacking in something. If I were to visit again, I might try the Taiwanese knife-cut noodles.

I used this place for lunch for the first time on a weekday. I finally could come here since it became non-smoking (^^;) I visited around 2:15 pm on a weekday and I was the only customer throughout. I ordered the "daily lunch" that was displayed in front of the store. I chose the rich soup and medium-thick noodles. I really wanted to have the gyoza set meal that I love, but being a poor person, I ordered the one that was 100 yen cheaper (´;ω;`) After waiting for about 8 minutes, it was served. The ramen, as mentioned by other reviewers, the soup is quite similar to Tenkaippin in both appearance and taste. It's a bit lighter than Tenkaippin, so those who seek a thick and rich flavor may be slightly disappointed, but for me, it had just the right richness and viscosity, which I really liked. The medium-thick noodles had a good chewiness and went well with the flavorful soup. The lean pork chashu was tender and easy to eat. The well-seasoned fried chicken was also tender and delicious. The batter had a strong flavor, but it wasn't overpowering. The spicy pickled vegetables also went well with rice. This daily set meal for 850 yen is definitely a great deal. I had to give up on the gyoza set meal due to being short on money, but I was fully satisfied with this fried chicken daily set meal. The rich chicken broth soup was quite impressive. Although it was not busy as it was off-peak hours, I imagine the place would be lively with students if it weren't for the pandemic. I hope they can overcome this difficult situation with their delicious ramen. Next time, I'd like to try the tsukemen or a lighter ramen. Thank you for the meal!

I was curious about Fukumon-san along the Shidan Street and decided to visit. There are so many ramen shops in the Fukakusa area. At Fukumon-san, I tried their light soy sauce ramen. It had a little bit of back fat and was a light, easy-to-eat bowl. Since it's a Chinese cuisine-focused restaurant, they have a variety of other menu items as well. I still want to try all the different ramen options available in the area.

This is my first visit to this place. While the izakaya has been around for a long time, the other shops don't seem to have a strong presence, and I can't remember what they used to be. The interior has Wi-Fi and outlets at the counter. We ordered the "rich ramen" that some people say is like "Tenkaippin", and you can choose between thin noodles and medium thick noodles, but we decided to go with the thin noodles different from Tenkaippin. We also ordered the fried rice set. The menu has a variety of Chinese dishes. First, a mini-sized fried rice is served. The fried rice has a nice oily coating, with strong salt and pepper flavors. The soy sauce is also strong and rich. The fried rice is moist, fluffy, and crispy, with a well-cooked flavor and a fragrant aroma. As we were eating the fried rice, the ramen arrived with freshly cut green onions on top. The chashu pork belly comes in three slices, lightly seared. The noodles are very thin (1.07mm) and have a good firm texture from being cooked al dente. The soup is rich, strongly flavored, and slightly cloudy. Compared to Tenkaippin, it has a lower viscosity and a more refined taste without any off-flavors. However, it seems to lack the addictive appeal and charm that draws people in. It appears that there are fewer vegetables simmered in the soup, resulting in a lower viscosity. The green onions are fresh and seem to be hand-cut in the kitchen. The chashu pork belly and seasoned soft-boiled egg have a mild flavor, and even though they are only three days old, the taste doesn't stand out. Overall, it's not a bad restaurant, but it seems to be lacking in creating a memorable or catchy flavor profile.

I had some business at the legal affairs bureau, so I went to a nearby ramen shop. There was a middle-aged man in the kitchen who was talking on his cell phone the whole time... and a grumpy older woman serving. The ramen was actually quite delicious, but it was a shame about the service. I won't be coming back here again, but I couldn't help but think that they should try harder, especially in times like these. Thank you for the meal.

Tukemen rice set for 850 yen. I had a free voucher so I went to the restaurant I wanted to try, but as soon as I arrived, I saw a closed sign. So I went to this nearby place instead. It's been a while since I had tukemen rice set. It was late and the place was empty probably due to COVID-19. The noodles were topped with seaweed and egg. The soup had a bit of green onions and diced chashu. The taste was okay, nothing special. The fish broth had a frozen-like taste. The noodles were just average. However, considering the price and the other items on the menu, I can't really dislike it. I think the regular ramen is the best here.

Once again, I drove to this restaurant after work. The exterior of the restaurant looks like a Chinese restaurant. I sat at the counter and looked at the menu. There are 5 types of ramen and a wide variety of set meals. They don't have a ticket machine, so it's nice to be able to take your time to choose from the menu. This time, I ordered the rich ramen with fried rice set (940 yen). You can choose between thin noodles and medium-thin noodles, and I chose the medium-thin noodles. The ramen that was served had chashu, seasoned egg, bamboo shoots, and chopped green onions. The soup seemed to be a rich and creamy chicken and pork bone broth with a hint of vegetable sweetness. It was rich but not heavy due to the low oil content. The noodles had a nice chewy texture and went well with the thick soup. The tender pork belly chashu and bamboo shoots were delicious, and the flavor of the chopped green onions complemented the soup well. The slightly seasoned chashu went perfectly with the fluffy rice, making it a very tasty meal. The ramen alone was delicious, but my recommendation would be the fried rice set.

We visited a local ramen shop every Saturday. It's located between Fujimori and Fukakusa. I ordered tonkotsu ramen with flavored egg, and my husband ordered the C set (ramen and fried rice set). My tonkotsu ramen had medium-thick noodles that were quite soft. The tonkotsu soup was not too heavy, not too light, just right. My husband's ramen was shoyu ramen. I can't remember if it was delicious. I think I tasted the fried rice, but I forgot. I remember it being fluffy and tasty. Overall, it was a normal and forgettable place.

Sometimes I remember this place. I ordered the Spicy Ramen set with Karaage for 920 yen, and added an extra level of spiciness for 300 yen. They said it would be really spicy, so I went for the maximum level. The bowl was covered in red powder, looking quite spicy. As for the taste, it wasn't extremely spicy, but the soup was thick due to the amount of powder. The Karaage was decently tasty. I used the free side dishes to add some variety to the flavors and finished everything. I know that adding extra spiciness can sometimes interfere with enjoying the pure deliciousness, but I can't help myself.

It's been a while since I came here. I was tempted by a nearby dumpling shop, but decided to go for today's special: ramen with mapo tofu rice bowl (900 yen). The menu has definitely expanded since the move. The ramen had green onions, bamboo shoots, chashu, and half a boiled egg. The taste was similar to Tenka Ippin, not too thick and quite delicious. The noodles were thin and easy to eat. However, the mapo tofu rice bowl was a bit disappointing. The owner is Chinese, so I was expecting a spicy dish that's popular these days, but it seemed to be adjusted for Japanese taste, which was a letdown. I have been eating their mapo tofu since I was young, so I had high hopes this time. But well, it's not all bad news. They have brought back the manga that was missing after the move! And the lineup is different from before. Even though I didn't finish it last time, I might read it again when I come for izakaya-style dining, since they have a variety of side dishes.

I wanted to eat delicious ramen, so I rode my bike and wandered around Fujimori. This area seems to be a fierce battleground for ramen shops. It was my first time here. The first shop I headed to was closed for the day. The next shop was closed on Thursdays. After being rejected by two places, I finally arrived at Fukumon. They offer both rich and light ramen options. I had the light soy sauce ramen with a fried rice set. Personally, I felt like the ramen was a bit lacking in something. When asked what was missing, I couldn't quite put my finger on it, but overall, it just didn't leave a strong impression on me. Thank you for the meal.

Colleagues and I had lunch in Kyoto. We decided to try a restaurant that supposedly offers a ramen similar to the rich and thick one from that famous ramen shop. We entered the restaurant when it just opened, so there were no other customers. We ordered the "rich ramen" for 650 yen. You could choose between thin noodles and medium thick noodles, and I chose the medium thick noodles, cooked firm! The ramen arrived in about 5 minutes. It looked very similar to the one from the famous shop, I couldn't help but mention it (laughs). The noodles were chewy and had a milder smell of kansui compared to the famous shop's ramen (which is quite strong). The soup was light with minimal bitterness and off-flavors, giving it an elegant finish. On the flip side, it could use a bit more flavor punch. The chashu had a firm texture with some slightly blurry parts, which was a bit disappointing. I also tried the zangi that my colleague ordered. The crispy coating had a delightful texture, and the seasoning was just right, with a hint of garlic and a spicy kick that would go well with beer. The meat inside was juicy enough. They also had a special spicy miso-like condiment on the side, which added to the overall fun and reminded me of the famous shop. If you're curious, I recommend visiting and comparing it for yourself. Bon appétit.

Visit around 11:30 am on Tuesday, January 22, 2019. There were 6 customers already seated at the counter, so I sat at a table by myself. I ordered the regular ramen with firm noodles. You can choose the type of noodles, so I chose thin noodles. The ramen was served in a few minutes. The taste was very similar to a popular chain restaurant. I added some spicy miso and a little bit of ramen sauce from the condiments on the table towards the end of my meal, just like I do at the popular chain restaurant. However, at 650 yen including tax, this place is more affordable compared to the popular chain restaurant.

I came on December 1, 2018. I had ramen and fried rice. It was super delicious and amazing. I'm so happy. My mouth is full of happiness. I am completely satisfied and happy. The restaurant is clean and has a calming atmosphere. There are various menu options, so I look forward to my next visit. Thank you for the meal. I will definitely go again. I will eat with gratitude for all the ingredients in this world. I'm calling all the delicious food♪ The more I eat, the more power overflows♪
