During my visit to the Kyoto Railway Museum, I took a break at this café around 2:55 PM on a Sunday. The café is located on the third floor of the museum's southeast area, as shown in the photo. It has an open and spacious layout, with a casual cafeteria-like atmosphere. There are large windows on two sides, allowing guests to enjoy views of not only the preserved trains within the museum but also trains from the Tokaido Shinkansen, Kyoto Line, San'in Main Line, and more. It's a paradise for train enthusiasts. The café offers regular tables, booth-style tables, and counter seats facing the windows. When I visited, it was almost full, but luckily I managed to get a booth-style table by the window. The other customers included families with young children, young couples, middle-aged couples, and groups of 2-4 men who seemed to be train fans. I also saw tourists from Taiwan, Southeast Asia, Europe, and the United States. The café operates on a self-service basis, with a ticket machine near the entrance. The menu includes Western dishes, udon, ramen, spaghetti, desserts, soft drinks, and alcoholic beverages, all priced on the higher side. I ordered two "Iced Coffees" for 450 yen each and a "Vanilla Ice Cream" for 500 yen (tax included). I presented my tickets at the counter, and the items were served in less than a minute. I tried making a coffee float by adding the vanilla ice cream to the iced coffee, but unfortunately, the coffee was very weak, almost like coffee-flavored water. It was quite disappointing. The vanilla ice cream was decent though. Despite the disappointing coffee, I'll give it a pass because of the great view.
