Good evening ( ̄Д ̄)ノ I have tomorrow off~♬ I have some errands to run outside, so I thought I'd pick up a souvenir on my way back. However, Kyoto is currently under a state of emergency due to COVID-19, and it seems like most shops are closed. Around 10 PM, I suddenly thought, "Maybe that one shop might be open!?" and headed to Sanjo Shotengai, a shopping street that everyone in Kyoto knows. Despite most shops being closed, one shop was operating with half of its shutters down. I remembered this shop from before, as I had eaten ramen in Sanjo Shotengai and knew they stayed open late. I was grateful to find it open and went inside. Upon closer inspection, it seems this shop also offers delivery through online shopping sites like Uber Eats, allowing for takeout as well. What's this!? Ranked 1st in the sweets donut category on Rakuten!? Oh, really!? They have several flavors available (Crème Brûlée, Matcha, Sweet Potato, etc.). This time, being my first visit, I chose the default Crème Brûlée donut for 250 yen each. I bought some for my family. While waiting, I saw them torching the donuts in the kitchen. When I got home and looked at the instructions on how to eat them, it mentioned enjoying them cold, partially thawed after freezing, or slightly warmed in the microwave. I decided to eat mine as is. The torched caramelized surface had a subtle bitterness, and flipping the donut revealed a creamy filling inside. With each bite, the combination of the caramelized bitterness, sweet cream, and moist donut was delicious. It had quite a substantial volume and felt rich! Eating it with iced coffee was a fantastic combination! I'd like to try different flavors in the future. Thank you for the meal♪ PS You can also purchase these donuts from Rakuten's website! (=゚ω゚)ノ
