After finishing my errands, I bought a summer limited edition Crème Brûlée Donut Ice Cream (500 yen) from Brule Kyoto at Sanjo Shopping Street, and enjoyed it on a bench at Sanjo Omiya Park across the street. The shop is located in Sanjo Street Arcade, slightly east of the center of the arcade, between Senbon Street and Horikawa Street. Sanjo Shopping Street, while not as touristy or crowded as Nishiki Market located near Hankyu, has a variety of gourmet shops at reasonable prices. Near this shop, you can find Keizo known for their melting Mont Blanc, Sarasara baked confectionery studio, and Premarche Gelateria. This was my second visit, and I impulsively bought the version with vanilla ice cream for a change. The sugar on the donut was caramelized with a burner in front of me, and served with vanilla ice cream. As advised by the staff, it's best to enjoy it as soon as possible, and indeed, the caramel was soft and paired perfectly with the donut. The donut was sweet but not overwhelmingly so like a certain famous foreign chain, and remained delicious till the end. The custard cream inside was rich, and paired well with the vanilla ice cream, providing a nice change of flavor. There are two seats inside the shop for eating in, as well as a trash can. It's a nice spot for a break after wandering around the shopping street. Enjoying it as soon as possible is recommended.

I visited the restaurant on June 20, 2023, before noon on Tuesday. I purchased two types of donuts: Crème Brûlée Donut and Premium Caramel Brûlée Donut. After ordering, they used a burner to caramelize the surface before handing them to me. When I brought them home, I enjoyed them with coffee. The crispy caramelized surface was delicious, just as I had imagined. I was surprised to find that there was cream inside the donuts, giving them a rich flavor. They were not your typical simple donuts or luxurious treats, but something in between, like a third type of dessert.

I stopped by a donut shop in the Sanjo shopping street in Kyoto today. Brulee is a specialty store that only sells soy milk donuts called "Creme Brulee Donuts". It seems to be a take-out only store. The shop is located in front of Sanjo Omiya Park. Their donuts are advertised as being ranked 1st in the donut category on Rakuten rankings. The donuts were sold for 300 yen each. If you want to eat them right away, they will use a burner to caramelize the surface of the donut. I got the Creme Brulee Donut in a paper bag for takeaway. I moved to Sanjo Omiya Park and tried the freshly baked donut. The caramel on the surface had a crispy texture, with a slightly bitter and rich flavor. The donut dough was fluffy, with cold custard cream inside. It's a rich donut with a combination of different textures! It's a perfect sweet treat for exploring the shopping street.

I often pass by the Sanjo shopping street, but I never noticed this store before. It's a specialty shop for Crème Brûlée donuts, and I was drawn in by the sign outside. I entered the store like being sucked in. I thought they would immediately take the donuts from the showcase, but instead, they disappeared into the kitchen with the donuts for a few minutes... They were actually caramelizing the donuts in front of me, using a fan to cool them down. The reason they disappeared into the kitchen was to warm up the donuts, so they were warm and crispy! The custard inside was rich and delicious! I'm glad I bought this! I want to eat it again. Today I had the plain flavor, but there are many other flavors available.

I visited a cream brulee shop in Santomachi Shopping Street. The brulee here is not like the traditional ones. It's more like a donut filled with whipped cream and baked with caramel on top. The balance is exquisite and it's incredibly delicious! The crispy texture of the caramel is also great. Thank you for the meal!

While walking along Sanjo-kai Shopping Street, I stumbled upon a small sweets shop. It's located near the intersection of Omiya Street and Sanjo Street, in front of a park. The shop is unassuming, with a narrow entrance that could easily be overlooked. They specialize in Cream Brulee Donuts, boasting a sign claiming they are "Ranked 1st on Rakuten". Although they mainly operate through online sales, they also offer on-site purchases for those exploring Sanjo-kai Shopping Street. I decided to try one out in the nearby park. When I placed my order, the owner brought out the donut on a tray. The donut had custard cream filled in the center hole, topped with a generous amount of granulated sugar. The owner then took out a torch and began to caramelize the sugar with intense heat. The sugar quickly melted and turned a rich brown color. After confirming that it had hardened, the owner wrapped it in paper and handed it to me. Now, for the taste test. The freshly made donut was warm and comforting, a benefit of eating on the go. The donut itself had a simple flavor, reminiscent of a slightly moistened Mister Donut Old Fashioned. When combined with the custard cream and crispy caramel coating, it was as delicious as I had imagined. While Cream Brulee alone is a tasty treat, the addition of the donut provided a different texture, adding another layer of enjoyment. Priced at 250 yen including tax, it was a reasonable price considering the taste and presentation. I would definitely recommend this shop to friends.

Good evening ( ̄Д ̄)ノ I have tomorrow off~♬ I have some errands to run outside, so I thought I'd pick up a souvenir on my way back. However, Kyoto is currently under a state of emergency due to COVID-19, and it seems like most shops are closed. Around 10 PM, I suddenly thought, "Maybe that one shop might be open!?" and headed to Sanjo Shotengai, a shopping street that everyone in Kyoto knows. Despite most shops being closed, one shop was operating with half of its shutters down. I remembered this shop from before, as I had eaten ramen in Sanjo Shotengai and knew they stayed open late. I was grateful to find it open and went inside. Upon closer inspection, it seems this shop also offers delivery through online shopping sites like Uber Eats, allowing for takeout as well. What's this!? Ranked 1st in the sweets donut category on Rakuten!? Oh, really!? They have several flavors available (Crème Brûlée, Matcha, Sweet Potato, etc.). This time, being my first visit, I chose the default Crème Brûlée donut for 250 yen each. I bought some for my family. While waiting, I saw them torching the donuts in the kitchen. When I got home and looked at the instructions on how to eat them, it mentioned enjoying them cold, partially thawed after freezing, or slightly warmed in the microwave. I decided to eat mine as is. The torched caramelized surface had a subtle bitterness, and flipping the donut revealed a creamy filling inside. With each bite, the combination of the caramelized bitterness, sweet cream, and moist donut was delicious. It had quite a substantial volume and felt rich! Eating it with iced coffee was a fantastic combination! I'd like to try different flavors in the future. Thank you for the meal♪ PS You can also purchase these donuts from Rakuten's website! (=゚ω゚)ノ

This is a donut specialty store located in Sanjo Shopping Street. They have a Cream Brulee Donut for ¥250. The donut hole is filled with custard and the surface is caramelized like a brulee. It's genius! The donut itself is quite delicious. It has a fluffy texture and a rich egg flavor. However, it was a bit greasy. The custard has a moderate sweetness and a creamy texture. The caramelized surface is nicely crispy and has a strong nutty bitterness. It was undeniably delicious! Thank you for the meal!

I happened to pass by a donut shop in the three-store shopping street and bought some for a snack. I got a Crème Brûlée donut for 250 yen and a fluffy plain donut for 150 yen. When I got home, I tried them right away! The donut dough was thick and moist, and fluffy. The custard inside was as expected, with a lingering sweetness. The brûlée part with a crispy browned top was also quite sweet. Recommended for those who like very sweet donuts, otherwise the fluffy donut might be better. Both types have a substantial weight, so one is satisfying enough. Thank you for the meal! ★

It's snack time during lunch. I visited this place on this day. It seems they were the first to start Crème Brûlée in Kyoto. I'll take two for takeout. The back side is delicious too. I enjoyed it. Thank you for the meal!

I generally don't like sweet things very much. More accurately, I'm not a fan of strongly flavored foods. In that sense, I think Kyoto's subtle flavors would suit my taste, but this crème brûlée donut was not as lightly sweet as expected. However, it had a great effect as a morning tea snack, and went well with black tea. European sweets tend to be quite sweet, so perhaps this donut is influenced by that trend?

Today I went to Hello Work and on the way back, I visited Sanjo Shopping Street. It was a bit sparse in the morning around 10 o'clock. Many food and beverage shops were still preparing, but supermarkets seemed to be attracting shoppers. I took a walk while stopping at several places for takeout. I was captivated by a wonderful aroma along the way. I ended up stopping at Creme Brulee Kyoto and bought two creme brulees. They seemed to still be preparing, but they kindly served me. When I returned home, they were delicious. The crispy exterior and soft interior texture was great. Thank you for the meal.

This is the original shop where the Cream Brulee Donut, now a menu item even at large donut stores, originated! It's fun to watch it being finished with a burner right in front of you after ordering. The finished product is hot and gooey, then the texture changes as it cools down, and finally it becomes crispy. By purchasing a freshly made one instead of a pre-made one, you can enjoy the texture and taste of this donut. Premium Fresh Caramel Brulee Donut 300 yen.

I walked a little east from Panscape on Sanjo Shopping Street and stopped in front of Brule. They were selling creme brulee donuts - plain, chocolate, matcha - with custard cream inside and caramelized on top. I ordered one of each: plain (250 yen), chocolate (250 yen), matcha (300 yen). There were a couple of customers behind me. The male staff put the donuts in a plastic case for me to take home. We enjoyed them with the family. They were rich in cream and quite sweet, so a refreshing drink is a must. The matcha flavor was the most popular. Thank you for the meal.

This was delicious! I want another one. Crème brûlée is a dessert originating from France where custard sauce is steamed and sprinkled with sugar, then caramelized with a gas burner. This crème brûlée donut is a premium donut originating from Kyoto. It is a fluffy soy milk donut filled with plenty of custard cream, and the surface is caramelized with a burner to make it crispy.

Around noon on October 29, 2022, there were no other customers in the store. I bought a matcha brulee donut for 350 yen, but it was not that great. The plain one would be better.
