This open-air cafe is too hot in the peak of summer. I decided to visit now that it has cooled down a bit. The service seemed very busy but efficient. I really like the muffin set here for 540 yen. It's a great deal with no price increase. The service was also quick. The muffins were soft and fluffy. It always seems crowded whenever I go. It was disappointing that it was empty during the pandemic.

On the second day of my trip to Kyoto, I visited "Sagan" for breakfast! The restaurant is located in the center of a cluster of accommodations near Kiyomizu Temple, and it seems to be a popular spot for breakfast based on the reviews. I arrived early on a Sunday morning, but soon more customers started coming in, and those who arrived later were informed that there might be a wait. The menu was written on a newspaper, which was very stylish. The restaurant seemed to be part of a group company, as the menu not only included food options but also information about affiliated stores and pottery for sale. The newspaper menu was available for takeout, which was a nice touch. For breakfast, you can choose a set meal and add on main and side dishes. I opted for a rice, miso soup, and side dish set with a rolled omelette as an addition, and a muffin for dessert. The food arrived in about 15 minutes. The rolled omelette was quite substantial and had a comforting dashi flavor. The miso soup was hearty with plenty of ingredients, and the side dish of vegetables had a nice crunch. Of course, we couldn't resist trying the muffin, which was recommended by the staff. We shared a matcha and red bean muffin, which was moist with a lovely matcha aroma and a hint of sweetness from the beans. After this filling breakfast, we were ready for a day of exploring Kyoto on foot. It was a great way to start the day. Thank you for the meal!

Kyoto Morning opens from 8 am and has a wide variety of menu options. The menu is cute as it looks like a newspaper! I chose toast with eggs and a drink. You can choose to have 1 or 2 eggs, so I chose 2! I picked sunny-side up for how I wanted my eggs cooked. The thick toast was crispy and fluffy, and the eggs were perfectly runny. The spacious and cozy atmosphere inside the restaurant made it a comfortable place to be.

Due to the timing of the Gion Festival, tourist spots and surrounding areas are crowded with visitors. One of the pleasures of traveling is trying out different foods, so I visited places I don't usually go to. More shops are now open from the morning, but I had to skip lunch and just had a hot coffee at a cafe.

I ordered a hamburger. It took too long to be brought to me, and for some reason, it arrived cold inside, which was disappointing. The atmosphere of the restaurant is nice, especially for foreigners, so I would recommend it for that aspect. However, I will not go back again.

There was a desired temple in Kyoto, near Gion. The Chinese restaurant originally planned was fully booked and I was at risk of becoming a lunch refugee. While on the way to Rokuharamitsuji Temple, I found a restaurant with a terrace. After visiting the temple, I immediately decided to visit the restaurant. It was a Saturday afternoon around 2 pm, and there was a lunch menu available, so I quickly entered. The lunch rush was over, and there were seats available on the terrace, so I chose to sit there. The road in front of the terrace had no sidewalk, only enough space for one car, making it close to pedestrians, but it was a pleasant seat for this season. There were several lunch menu options, but I had a sudden craving for curry and wanted to eat some vegetables after days of dining out, so I ordered a Caesar salad. In about 10 minutes, a huge bowl of Caesar salad was served, with plenty of bacon and vegetables, and I was very satisfied with the safe flavor. The curry was a spicy chicken curry and I was also satisfied with that. I visited without any prior research, but the prices were reasonable and I left satisfied. Next time I explore this area, I might come by train instead of car and enjoy a beer on the terrace.

I visited this cafe on the last day of my 4-day trip to Kyoto for GW. It is located just a few minutes' walk from the hotel where I stayed. The cafe has an open-style layout and transforms into a bar at night. I stayed at Stay Sakura Kyoto Gion Miyagawa-cho during my trip, but unfortunately, my review of the hotel was not accepted on a review website. The cafe I visited for breakfast served both Japanese and Western-style dishes. My husband ordered a plate of toast topped with two eggs and bacon, along with coffee, while I opted for toast and iced tea. The toast was slightly crispy on the outside and soft inside, made with soy milk in the dough. The butter spread on top was light, and the accompanying lettuce was marinated in French dressing. My husband enjoyed his bacon and egg toast with the runny yolk, and we left the cafe satisfied. The cafe was popular, and we were lucky to get a table quickly, but the orders took some time as there was only one chef in the kitchen. By the time we left, there was a line forming outside. Now, we are heading to a popular bakery to buy some bread to take home. Thank you for the meal!

The bottom layer was hojicha jelly, with layers of tiramisu on top. I was worried it might be too sweet or too big because of the size, but it was surprisingly light. The cafe also offers Wi-Fi, and the best part is that you can choose from their morning menu even in the evening. I also had some white bread, which was served warm with olive oil and had a sweet taste, very delicious! I'm thinking of ordering that as my main next time. So, I've decided to revisit soon.

I happened to discover a trendy restaurant on a slope leading towards Higashioji-dori from Matsubara-dori, and decided to have lunch there since I was hungry. It was already past 1 pm, but the place was almost full with tourists and women, giving off a chic cafe vibe. However, I was disappointed with the taste of the hamburger lunch. It took a long time, and the cold hamburger they served was unacceptable. It seems like they are able to thrive because they cater to tourists.

I went to have breakfast. I arrived around 8:00 on a weekday. The place is located near Kiyomizu Gojo, close to elementary and junior high schools. There were two stylish middle-aged men and a female college student as staff. There were only about 3 groups of customers. There are plenty of seats, so it seems like it can accommodate a lot of customers. The interior of the restaurant was clean, and there were many breads for sale. The tamagoyaki (Japanese omelette) was soft and very delicious. Also, the Japanese set meal came with miso soup, which was incredibly tasty and made me feel warm inside. I would like to go there again.
