I stopped by a seafood stall, Amitatsu, on my way back from Nijo Castle. After spending about two hours exploring the historical Nijo Castle, I left and walked towards the station through the Sanjo Kai Shotengai arcade. I had the impression that there were not many food and drink shops in this arcade, and was almost about to give up when I unexpectedly stumbled upon a seafood specialty store. It was towards the end of the shopping street, but it was a wonderful encounter. I entered the lively and vibrant stall-style izakaya run by a fishmonger. The interior of the store had a lively and hearty atmosphere, with tables and chairs made from beer crates, giving it a vibrant and energetic feel. The staff were all lively and full of energy. The various dishes were fresh and generously portioned, exuding a lively and hearty atmosphere. The popular dish called "kushi okoge" was a fried food with a crispy coating made from crushed rice crackers. The seating inside was simple, with a casual atmosphere that was very soothing for the mind and body. I truly wished this place was closer to where I live. The menu I enjoyed included Shimaji sashimi, mentaiko potato salad, squid ring fry, sawara miso-grilled, and various skewers of "kushi okoge" (squid, octopus, lotus root, sweet potato, shiitake mushroom, eggplant) each priced at 110 yen. For drinks, I had a highball, sweet potato shochu with hot water (Kurokiri), cold sake (Ikegumo), cup wine (white), and lemon chu-hai. The crispy coating of the "kushi okoge" skewers was made from crushed rice crackers, which helped to soften the roughness. It was meant to be dipped in a rich and savory broth, making it a delightful dish. The portion sizes of the dishes were unexpectedly large, which was greatly appreciated. The service was excellent, and I left feeling full and satisfied. I would love to visit again. Thank you for the delicious meal.
