While walking through Nishiki Market, I came across a shop selling conger eel and freshwater eel. When dining in, they re-fry the fried dishes for you. The piping hot conger eel fry was delicious with the sauce. The bones were not a problem at all. It paired perfectly with a lemon sour. The conger eel tempura wasn't as thick as I expected, but it was still tasty. The shrimp and yuba roll tempura was surprisingly delicious. Overall, the prices are somewhat high, but considering it as a part of the travel experience, it's a reasonable amount to pay.

At Nishiki Market, one of the purposes of this trip was to eat tempura, so we came here to fulfill that. There were about 5 groups waiting around early afternoon. When you order, they fry it fresh for you. The conger eel was firm and delicious! The saltiness was just right! The other tempura looked delicious too, so I would like to try it next time with beer. Thank you for the meal!

The conger eel tempura is thick and satisfying! It seems like it was even more delicious a few years ago... The eel skewers we added had a bit of a smell and were tough in texture. There was seating available in the eat-in space, so we were able to sit down!

There was a long line at Nishiki Market. The eel tempura sold here is exquisite, so please try it. Eel is a fish with many small bones, but they are thin enough to chew and swallow without much concern. They serve it freshly fried.

I came to Kyoto and had conger eel for the first time at Nishiki Market. It felt like I was the only Japanese person walking around, almost like I was on a trip abroad. Many shops here serve conger eel tempura, which made me crave it. So, I decided to try the conger eel tempura at this shop for 600 yen. They fried it again in oil, placed it on a bamboo skewer, and guided me to a standing eating area. Each tempura piece cost 200 yen. Compared to a 900 yen abalone skewer I had in Atami before, it felt more affordable. The tempura had a crispy coating and a fluffy conger eel inside. The salt seasoning was just right, not overpowering the delicate flavor of the conger eel. The texture was different from eel or conger eel, unique to conger eel. After enjoying three pieces, I disposed of the skewer and pack, saying "gochisousama deshita." I had a fluffy conger eel at Nishiki Market. Gochisousama deshita!

The tempura, which is fried twice, was not good. The famous conger eel tempura was very oily and greasy. Even after removing the batter, it was still oily. The service was unfriendly and the overall experience was disappointing. It may have been just a bad batch, but it was not worth the anticipation. The restaurant should consider taking a break or reducing their hours if they are too busy and tired. It's a shame for a long-standing establishment.

I ordered the Conger eel tempura (600 yen) from a long-established grilled fish specialty store in Nishiki Market, which has been in business for over 100 years. The Conger eel, sourced from Shimonoseki, was cut into square pieces, skewered, and deep-fried. It had a plump texture and paired well with the grilled salt. If you enjoyed the review, please follow the account and save the restaurant.

I visited this place last November when I came to Nishiki Market. It's a restaurant that specializes in conger eel dishes! I ordered conger eel tempura and it was fried right in front of me. I enjoyed the hot and fluffy conger eel tempura. The thick slices of conger eel had tender white flesh! Although the place is small, there is seating available. Next time I visit, I plan to bring my own paper napkins or tissues for cutting the fat. On a side note, I recently visited a conveyor belt sushi restaurant with my husband and ordered conger eel tempura, but it didn't taste like conger eel at all! The same goes for the eel tempura, it didn't taste right. Even though it should be standardized and automated, the quality was lacking. It made me nostalgic for the conger eel tempura from this place and I wished other places would learn from them. The conger eel tempura here is fried twice, with the first fry displayed in the store and the second fry done in front of you upon ordering. The photos of the conger eel tempura and the restaurant are followed by pictures of the illuminated Kiyomizu-dera temple.

Kyoto gourmet time! Inside Nishiki Market, there is a fishmonger!? When passing by the shop, you can't help but stop! "One Hamo cutlet, one Hamo tempura, please~" We bought each skewer for 500 yen! *They fry it again after you order! There is also an eat-in space, so we bought a beer (500 yen) and enjoyed it lightly♫ It was delicious!

Enjoyable food tour at Nishiki Market. The grilled conger eel is large and looks delicious. Let's try it. It costs 500 yen. When you order, they fry it again for you. There is a small eat-in corner where you can sit, and they also serve draft beer. They sprinkle salt on the conger eel. Each piece is large and crispy, just delicious. It's not piping hot inside because it's reheated, but it's good enough for a food tour. It was delicious.

At the 500 yen shop, there are tables available for dining in. Among the various attractive foods, what caught my eye the most was the Hamo Tempura. Each piece is big! But despite being packed with meat, it's fluffy and crispy, making it so delicious that I wanted to take some home. They fry it right in front of you, so you get to eat it piping hot which is also nice! This was my favorite at Nishiki Market. Highly recommended!

Eating and walking around Nishiki Market. Found a lively shop with a long line. They sell skewers for 500 yen each. The fried skewers are freshly fried on the spot, so you can enjoy them hot and crispy. I decided to try the most popular dish, conger eel tempura. Eating the conger eel tempura while chatting with other customers in the shop is lively. It's rich in protein and saltiness, making me want some alcohol too. The fresh frying really adds to the flavor.

I always come to Kyoto because I want to eat the hamo tempura and hamo cutlet here. As soon as I arrive, I head straight to Uoriki. This time, I had 3 pieces of hamo tempura and 2 pieces of cutlet in my stomach. I usually eat more, but I had to restrain myself this time. I could eat it forever though. Each piece costs 500 yen and they only accept cash.

At Nishiki Market. There were delicious skewers like conger eel tempura, conger eel fry, eel, scallops lined up. The prices were mostly around 500 yen. I decided without hesitation to order the conger eel tempura. The grandpa fried it in front of me and generously sprinkled salt on it. He said, "Hold your cheeks, it's so good that they might fall off." Cute. When I ate the freshly made conger eel tempura, it was so delicious that I was moved! The saltiness was just right! The meat was tender and the batter was crispy, it was amazing. Maybe the most delicious thing at Nishiki Market. I also want to try the conger eel fry.

I went to a popular shop at Nishiki Market, it's a very fancy and shiny brown shop! There is a space inside where you can eat, and they fry the food again in oil. The fried conger eel is big, boneless, and delicious! The re-frying makes the oil a bit strong and there is a slight fishy smell. I think the atmosphere while strolling through Nishiki Market matters more than the taste! Thank you for the meal!

It was quite good. I ordered conger eel skewers. It's easy to eat while walking, which is nice. Well, there is also trash, so I eat inside the shop instead of walking. When you order, they fry it again, so the outside is crispy and the inside is warm. It's a bit oily and not extremely delicious, but for some reason, I always end up eating it when I pass by.

Today, I strolled around Nishiki Market in Kyoto. The eel displayed at the storefront looked delicious, so I decided to stop by this shop called Uoriki. It seems to be a shop that has been selling grilled fish since 1919. In front of the shop, there were tempura and cutlets lined up on skewers. You can easily purchase them by the piece for a coin. They use eels from the Seto Inland Sea, and it seems to be a specialty that can be enjoyed all year round. I decided to try one piece of eel inside the shop. They also offer drinks like draft beer to enjoy with your food.
Eel Tempura: The tempura had a beautiful golden color and looked delicious. I asked for a simple sprinkling of salt. Each piece was large, and when I held the skewer, it felt heavy. The tempura had a crispy texture, making a satisfying sound when bitten into. The large cut of eel was fluffy and seriously delicious. I was able to enjoy it casually by ordering just one piece.

Eel tempura for 500 yen. There were eel tempura piled up at the counter, and at first glance, they looked fake, but they were real. In this day and age, I felt a little uncomfortable that they were displayed in a place where many people pass by, but the taste is delicious. I had them fry it again and was able to eat it at a table inside. There were no other customers, so I could relax. There is a generous amount of salt, which helps to mask the slight greasiness. I like it.

Before the state of emergency was declared, I walked to Nishiki Market in Kyoto from Hankyu Kawaramachi Station. I had checked out this restaurant on Tabelog beforehand. A lovely lady was running it alone. I wanted to eat eel, but they didn't have any that day, so I struggled between choosing the conger eel tempura and conger eel cutlet, but ended up going with the conger eel tempura. They serve alcohol in cans, and I enjoyed a Jim Beam for 400 yen while biting into the crispy, freshly fried conger eel tempura. It was the best when eaten right after being fried - crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. I enjoyed it with just a sprinkle of salt. Thank you for the meal.

I visited in March 2021, and I came again this year. I ordered the 500 yen conger eel tempura, 500 yen conger eel cutlet, and 500 yen draft beer. You can eat inside the restaurant. They fry everything fresh on the spot. The conger eel tempura was crispy and delicious. It goes really well with beer. The grilled eel is also 500 yen. It's very affordable. Nishiki Market during cherry blossom season was busier than last year. But you can still walk around normally. Even on weekdays, Nishiki Market is filled with foreign tourists carrying suitcases, making it hard to walk around. So now is a good opportunity for Japanese people. I highly recommend the crispy conger eel tempura.
