On this day, my family went shopping together. For lunch, we felt like having some Chinese food, so we decided to visit this place that I've been wanting to try for a while. It's a stylish Wang Shou located in an office district, different from the usual ones. Despite its prime location, the restaurant is spacious in the back and has a clean atmosphere that doesn't feel like a typical Wang Shou. The four of us were seated at a table. While the main menu like dumplings was the same as regular Wang Shou, they also had exclusive menu items available only at this location! We started with the essential "dumplings" and "beer," and then ordered a variety of dishes. The speed of service varied among the staff, but they were all pretty fast! The dumplings were a sure winner, as always. We ended up eating three servings among the four of us. The highlight of this visit was the "Stir-Fried Pork and 10 Kinds of Vegetables," an exclusive menu item here. It was incredibly delicious, with oyster sauce and a clear soup base, I think. The "Tofu with Dried Baby Sardines and Shrimp Salad" was another unique dish only available here, typical of Wang Shou. It served as both an appetizer and a palate cleanser, reducing any sense of guilt. It was a great addition! We also enjoyed dishes like sweet and sour pork, crispy noodles, beef and egg over rice, and more, all of which were of the usual Wang Shou quality or even better, with a good cost performance. Overall, the service was fast, the atmosphere was pleasant, and the exclusive menu items were a nice touch. I look forward to enjoying dumplings and beer on the terrace once it gets warmer.

GYOZA OHSHO's unforgettable Chinese soba + fried rice + gyoza + draft beer lunch. Although I usually refrain from alcohol, I couldn't resist this menu. The ramen at Ohsho has become even more delicious! The chewy noodles and light yet flavorful soy-based broth were exceptional. The fried rice and gyoza were as delicious as always. And of course, the draft beer was a must. Everything was incredibly delicious!

I went at 6:30 pm on a regular day, but it gets quite crowded at night. The seating is limited, and it gets busy with people waiting for takeout and at the cashier. The menu is the usual Osho, but the atmosphere makes it enjoyable and gets you in a good mood. The chili cheese gyoza was delicious!

I went to the trendy Oshare Ousho in Gion before 10pm. I came for the cheese dumplings, but they were sold out! There were a lot of tourists, so it couldn't be helped. I ended up ordering a beer (Extra Cold), highball, ham and egg stir-fry, oil-drenched chicken, and sundubu salad for about 3,150 yen. The sundubu salad is unique with various nuts, the oil-drenched chicken had a crispy outside and juicy inside, and the ham and egg stir-fry went well with alcohol. I would like to try the dumplings next time. I will definitely come back. Thank you for the meal.

The original dishes were plentiful and delicious. The plates were more stylish than the typical Osho restaurant, and the atmosphere inside was nice. It's also great that the smell doesn't stick to your clothes. However, I think it's not good when there are a lot of customers waiting in line, and there are empty seats but the tables are not cleared promptly.

.【#Gyozaohsho Karasuma Oike Store】430 Ryuoike-cho, Anekoji-agaru, Ryogae-machi-dori, Nakagyo-ku, Kyoto City. It seems that the "Spicy Pork Ramen" has been newly added to the regular menu, and I used the app member benefit of getting one free serving of gyoza for every two servings. The thickly sliced pork was very tender, the egg was fluffy, and the spiciness was just right, making it very easy to eat. The soup also had a delicious flavor from the pork and egg melting into it. This restaurant always seems busy, so the gyoza is cooked differently each time I go, but I enjoy that unpredictability. Speaking of cooking, on a recent TV show called "Bucchake Tsukkomi Gekijo," someone from Gyozaohsho talked about how they can't get the gyoza cooked perfectly, which was quite amusing. This is a stylish Gyoza no Ohsho that doesn't feel like Gyoza no Ohsho at all. You can enjoy a quiet and relaxing meal here. Unlike the usual Gyoza no Ohsho, which can be noisy and hectic, this place allows you to enjoy Chinese cuisine at a leisurely pace. There are many original menu items to enjoy, and a wide variety of drinks available, making it great for daytime or late-night drinking. I had a delicious and enjoyable dining experience! The fact that you can enter the restaurant immediately after coming up from the underground is also appealing.

Kyoto Ousho, Karasuma-Oike branch. Located on the south side of Oike Street, west of Karasuma-Oike. I was impressed by the texture of the almond jelly in the set last time. This time, I visited to savor the standalone almond jelly. Well, almond jelly is a dessert, so the main dishes are the classic Chinese rice and chicken karaage. As of March 2023 (tax included): Chinese rice 561 yen, garlic soy sauce chicken thigh karaage 682 yen, almond jelly 418 yen. The dessert almond jelly has a subtle sweetness of vanilla essence and a unique mousse-like texture. Well, it doesn't really look like tofu, but it's different from the softness of tofu. It's a masterpiece produced by Ms. Kogari that makes you want to come back for more. The classic Chinese rice is served in a different bowl without a ladle, and it seems to be eaten with a spoon in a high-class style. The soup is also served in a cup. The sauce tastes a bit light. You can choose between white and black pepper, which is provided in a pepper mill. I chose black pepper. I felt the aroma and spiciness of the pepper were a bit lacking even after grinding it with the mill. The garlic soy sauce chicken thigh karaage has a faint garlic aroma, but it's not as strong as in dumplings. The soy sauce is also light, so the difference from the classic karaage is minimal. I added rock salt before eating. There is no shredded cabbage. Somehow, the classic menu items seem to taste better at the more rustic-style restaurants. It may be better to try the original menu combinations with a mix of Japanese and Western flavors at the high-class restaurants. This time, I will evaluate the dessert almond jelly.

Located southwest of the Karasuma Oike intersection, this cafe-style restaurant has a trendy exterior but offers classic Osho menu items. It's a stress-free place where even solo female diners can feel comfortable. The Yodare chicken, spring rolls, xiaolongbao, and sweet and sour pork are all delicious. I'll definitely come back again! Visited "GYOZA OHSHO" in Karasuma Oike. It's a new brand from "Gyoza no Ohsho" with a stylish atmosphere where even women can feel comfortable. - The gyoza is definitely a safe bet. The crispy sear is especially good. The quality at this price point makes me wonder why anyone would bother going to a gyoza specialty shop. - The tofu and dried shrimp salad is refreshing and delicious. The tofu is silky smooth with a slightly salty taste that is very tasty. - The black vinegar sweet and sour pork is exemplary. - The saliva chicken may look black, but it's not overly salty. The chili oil adds a nice kick and it's properly oily. - The spicy fried chicken seems to be a limited item. The batter is not very crispy, but the breast meat or chicken tenderloin has a moist and healthy taste. - The chicken white broth noodles are a light chicken broth. It's so mild that you could almost drink it as a soup. The noodles have a slippery texture that feels like ramen from a Chinese restaurant. It was delicious. There are many unique menu items here, so it's fun and I might come back again.

I went to a stylish King Shou restaurant! From the outside, it didn't look like King Shou at all, more like a bakery or supermarket, so I almost passed by. The rich ramen and gyoza were consistently good. The almond jelly was delicious. The problem was the shrimp mayo dish, it was different from the menu's photo! (laughs) The presentation was sloppy and there were nuts sprinkled on top, but in reality, there were none.

For my errand in Karasuma Oike, I planned to have lunch at the nearest Kyoto Osho. Although I also wanted to visit the sacred place of Kyoto Osho, the Shijo Omiya store, it was quite far away, so I chose the Karasuma Oike store. It is located on the west side of Karasuma Oike and faces the south side of Oike Street, making it easy to find and access. Well, it's not the typical atmosphere of Osho, but... I had already set my sights on the ancient Popeye set meal on the weekday lunch menu, so I ordered it. It's like a Popeye set meal with a twist. The menu name is spinach and scrambled egg lunch. I asked the crew if they had extra rice, and they said they could give a smaller portion but not an extra large portion. It's not a suitable place for those who want to eat a lot. I thought about ordering gyoza separately, but I ordered meat shumai instead. I will have gyoza at a more traditional gyoza shop. As of February 2023 (tax included), the spinach and scrambled egg lunch is 825 yen, and the meat shumai is 253 yen. The spinach and scrambled egg lunch main dish consists of spinach, onions, pork, and eggs stir-fried in a soy sauce base. The soy sauce flavor is delicious. It has a nostalgic taste, but the portion is small. I feel like the old Popeye had a bit more... Also, a small salad, pickled vegetables, the familiar soup, and mini almond jelly. I can't remember the last time I had almond jelly. I used to eat the square-shaped almond jelly in a fruit can, not the tower-like one. Gyoza Osho's almond jelly, produced by Ms. Saika Kobari, has a vanilla flavor, similar to rare cheesecake, with a slightly sweet taste that is completely different from sugar sweetness. It looks like yogurt, so I thought it would taste like yogurt, but it's completely different. I want to try almond jelly on its own because it has a mysterious taste. The meat shumai comes in a set of 3, with a large size, a chewy outer layer, and a soft texture. It comes with mustard, and the mustard goes well with it. It may not be enough in terms of quantity, but it has a satisfying feeling typical of Osho. There are also original menus mixed in, so it might be nice to change things up from the usual Osho. The Karasuma Oike store has a wide variety of alcohol menus and could also be used as an Osho bar. I enjoyed some rare dishes.

In Kyoto, there is a restaurant called "Gyoza no Ohsho" located in front of Shijo Omiya Station, which is the birthplace and first store of the chain. The current "Shijo Omiya store" is where it all began for the now over 730 stores nationwide. However, during my week-long stay in Kyoto, I had the opportunity to visit a next-generation standard restaurant called "GYOZA OHSHO" twice, which has a chic exterior and a stylish cafe or bar-like interior that sets it apart from traditional "Gyoza no Ohsho" locations. During my first visit, I ordered the special New Year's draft beer promotion, which was served at a discount of 30 yen from the regular price. I also ordered two servings of the signature dish, "Yaki Gyoza." The original "Yaki Gyoza" was served promptly and had a classic flavor with a subtle taste of garlic and ginger. It's worth noting that the taste is quite different from "Osaka Ohsho," and I personally prefer the flavor of "Gyoza no Ohsho." I also added my favorite dish, "Niku to Tamago no Iritsuke" (similar to "Moo Shi Rou"), which is a must-try dish for me at "Gyoza no Ohsho." The dish is perfect as a side dish for rice and pairs well with beer. The dishes served in the cafe-like and stylish bar setting elevated the flavors, making them even more delicious. During my second visit, I ordered two servings of "Yaki Gyoza" with a crispy bottom and "Yasai Itame" (similar to "Tsua Pai Sai"). The "Yaki Gyoza" with a crispy bottom enhanced the deliciousness, and the vegetable stir-fry had a flavor that made me crave rice. I want to emphasize that "Gyoza no Ohsho" and "Osaka Ohsho" are completely different, and I highly recommend trying both to experience the unique flavors.

As the year was coming to an end, I had a tough job in Kyoto on December 28th and 29th. Finally finished, I returned to the hotel and slept like a log. The next day, I woke up slowly and checked out at 11 am. I thought about going to Minmin in Sanjo for some gyoza, but it was a bit too early as they open at 11:30 am. I remembered there was a nice-looking Osho near Karasuma Oike Station, so I felt like checking it out. It had a glass exterior and even terrace seating, giving it a café-like atmosphere. Surprisingly, they were open from 10:30 am in the morning. I sat at the counter and opened the menu. I haven't been to Osho much before. The gyoza was 250 yen for 6 pieces - so cheap. A draft beer (Asahi Super Dry) was 480 yen. The menu mentioned a promotion where the second beer onwards is 100 yen off. But I decided to stick with one beer today. I added a small bowl of rice for 140 yen when the gyoza arrived. It didn't even cost me 1000 yen. In 2022, there were many challenges, but I feel like I ended the year with a good job that will lead to the next year. Well done, me. Wrapping up work with gyoza and beer is the best way, right? Hopefully, next year will be a good year too.
