Nice to meet you again! On our day off, my wife and I went on a lunch date. Due to the impact of the coronavirus, we didn't feel like going too far, but on the other hand, we haven't visited many local attractions, scenic spots, or historical buildings. We have been so focused on raising our children that everything was prioritized for them. Now that our children have grown up and become independent, we are enjoying our time together as a couple.
On this day, we decided to visit Fukuchiyama Castle. The main character of the currently airing historical drama "Kirin ga Kuru" is said to have built the castle. There are many interesting shops in Fukuchiyama, but we relied on the recommendations of previous visitors to find a restaurant that would suit my wife's tastes. However, as we got closer, we found ourselves wandering around using the navigation system on our phones. It seemed like a challenge to find the restaurant, but after circling around a few times, we finally found it. The restaurant had a large parking lot, which was a relief.
Upon entering, we were guided to a table separated by a roll screen where we could take off our shoes. We looked at the menu and wanted to order the hospitality set, but it seemed that this required a reservation. There were many delicious set meals to choose from, but my wife suggested trying the daily special set, which came with a mini soft serve ice cream for an additional 100 yen. We also ordered hot coffee for our drink.
The restaurant was quite spacious, with about 20 parking spaces available. It seemed to be popular as more customers arrived later on. We waited for about 30 minutes, playing games on our phones. The daily special menu consisted of various small dishes, which were all served individually. The lighting in the restaurant made it difficult to take detailed photos, so I stopped taking pictures halfway through.
I don't like shiitake mushrooms, so I just had the white rice. It was a small portion, but I managed to finish all the sashimi dishes and even ordered a refill for 100 yen. Looking back, I realized that the portion size was actually quite generous from the start. The food was delicately flavored and the presentation was meticulous. The combination of chawanmushi and red miso soup was excellent. It was a meal of 1 soup and 10 dishes, which was beyond my expectations.
We left the restaurant at 1:00 pm, after spending about an hour and fifteen minutes there. Although the service was a bit slow and the staff seemed overwhelmed, we were satisfied with the food and my wife was happy. Now, off to Fukuchiyama Castle! Thank you for the delicious meal.
