First Visit 202302 (No.4253) 1. Purpose of Visit - Visiting to have lunch on the 2nd day of visiting Kyoto. 2. Shop Information - Genre on Tabelog: Western food, Hamburg steak, Omelette rice - A shop opened in 1907 (Meiji 40) - A Western-style restaurant loved by Maiko and Geisha since the Meiji era - Business hours: 12:00-21:00 - Closed on: None - 26 seats (6 counter seats, 2 tables for 2 people each, 4 tables for 4 people each) 3. Crowdedness and Atmosphere on the Day - Visited around 12:00 on a weekday, no previous customers but 12 customers of all ages arrived one after another, truly a popular long-established shop! - The storefront has old-fashioned wax food samples, creating a retro Showa-era Western-style restaurant atmosphere. 4. Customer Service - Polite and attentive, paying attention to things like refilling tea. Good level of service! 5. Ordered Items - Fukuya Rice 980 yen - Can't visit without ordering the item named after the shop, so I ordered the above item. The "Fukuya Rice" served in 12-13 minutes is an original omelette rice requested by a certain Geisha or Maiko, which has become a staple. The surface has a half-cooked egg with raw egg white, tomatoes, mushrooms, green peas, and colorful vegetables, creating an evolved omelette rice. The ketchup rice is stir-fried with a perfect balance of ham and onions, not too strong or weak in flavor, making it a delicious dish. - Ice cream (usually 520 yen?) - On the day of my visit, it happened to be a service day where they offer a complimentary hot coffee, iced coffee, or ice cream. Although I ordered the above item for the aesthetic, the frozen glass made it too good to enjoy for free, a very delicious vanilla ice cream. 6. Overall - On the day, I was also curious about the "Western-style bento" that several customers ordered. Other Western dishes seem to be more traditional, reminiscent of a typical Western-style restaurant in the town, so I would definitely like to revisit and try various dishes in this shop. Thank you for the meal.
