In bustling Kyoto, you can enjoy a leisurely old-fashioned Western meal. I had chicken cutlet and rice. The hostess's service was charming, and I was able to relax and enjoy the delicious chicken cutlet.

I visited the restaurant around 3 pm on a weekday after missing lunch. I ordered the Western-style bento box (regular). The food arrived promptly and it was like a grown-up version of a children's lunch box. It included hamburg steak, fried shrimp, fried white fish, and other favorites. The freshly fried white fish was especially delicious. The crispy coating, tender fish, and rich flavor were all excellent. The portion sizes were just right and I was very satisfied.

I arrived first at 12 o'clock on Saturday. Once again, I ordered the tonkatsu set meal with a side of coffee. The thinly sliced meat was easy to eat, and the demiglace sauce had a gentle and enjoyable flavor. The restaurant was decorated with many Kyoto-style round fans, loved by the geisha and maiko in Miyagawa-cho.

I finally visited this place not far from my usual stay. The atmosphere was lively with locals coming and going, showing that it is loved by the community. I was indecisive looking at the menu, but I ended up choosing the hamburger. It was delicious, just like a comforting homemade hamburger. I think next time I'll try the lunch special menu.

I ordered the Fukuya Rice that I had seen on social media and it was delicious, with the tomato adding a nice touch. I noticed that other customers were able to request half portions of rice, which was convenient. The Western-style bento box that my companion ordered had a generous amount of food and was satisfying. There are many other appealing menu options, so I would like to visit again.

First Visit 202302 (No.4253) 1. Purpose of Visit - Visiting to have lunch on the 2nd day of visiting Kyoto. 2. Shop Information - Genre on Tabelog: Western food, Hamburg steak, Omelette rice - A shop opened in 1907 (Meiji 40) - A Western-style restaurant loved by Maiko and Geisha since the Meiji era - Business hours: 12:00-21:00 - Closed on: None - 26 seats (6 counter seats, 2 tables for 2 people each, 4 tables for 4 people each) 3. Crowdedness and Atmosphere on the Day - Visited around 12:00 on a weekday, no previous customers but 12 customers of all ages arrived one after another, truly a popular long-established shop! - The storefront has old-fashioned wax food samples, creating a retro Showa-era Western-style restaurant atmosphere. 4. Customer Service - Polite and attentive, paying attention to things like refilling tea. Good level of service! 5. Ordered Items - Fukuya Rice 980 yen - Can't visit without ordering the item named after the shop, so I ordered the above item. The "Fukuya Rice" served in 12-13 minutes is an original omelette rice requested by a certain Geisha or Maiko, which has become a staple. The surface has a half-cooked egg with raw egg white, tomatoes, mushrooms, green peas, and colorful vegetables, creating an evolved omelette rice. The ketchup rice is stir-fried with a perfect balance of ham and onions, not too strong or weak in flavor, making it a delicious dish. - Ice cream (usually 520 yen?) - On the day of my visit, it happened to be a service day where they offer a complimentary hot coffee, iced coffee, or ice cream. Although I ordered the above item for the aesthetic, the frozen glass made it too good to enjoy for free, a very delicious vanilla ice cream. 6. Overall - On the day, I was also curious about the "Western-style bento" that several customers ordered. Other Western dishes seem to be more traditional, reminiscent of a typical Western-style restaurant in the town, so I would definitely like to revisit and try various dishes in this shop. Thank you for the meal.

It had been a while since I last visited, but as expected, it was full during lunchtime. I debated between the usual Western-style bento and ended up ordering the usual set. The taste was reliably delicious! Even when busy, the chef here never cuts corners and is a wonderful craftsman. I respect how they can consistently deliver the same quality no matter how crowded it is. Thank you for the meal today as well.

On the first day of my trip to Kyoto, I had lunch at "Grill Fukuya." It is a charming Western-style restaurant deeply rooted in the local community, with a history of over 100 years. The restaurant is adorned with autographs from famous people and fans of geisha, indicating its popularity. Since it was lunchtime, I chose the Cream Croquette Set Meal (¥1000) from the lunch menu. Although the Fukuya Rice seemed to be the signature dish, I opted for the lunch set this time. The set meal arrived in a bento box style, accompanied by red miso soup. The cream croquette was made with minced meat rather than crab, and it had a nostalgic and comforting taste. The boiled cabbage underneath the croquette was a nice touch. The vegetable salad and ketchup-based spaghetti salad also had a nostalgic feel. Surprisingly, the red miso soup had a hint of Sansho pepper, which added a delicious twist. The cozy atmosphere of the restaurant makes me want to visit again if I am in the area. I look forward to trying the Fukuya Rice next time! Thank you for the meal! ^^

After visiting the Rokudo Shrine and enduring the scorching heat, I decided to check out this restaurant that caught my eye before due to the long line outside. The place is decorated with many Kyoto-style round fans, possibly inspired by the geisha in Hanamachi Miyagawacho. Despite that, the restaurant has the vibe of a casual Western-style eatery. I ordered the Fukuya Rice from the enticing menu. It's a colorful dish resembling omurice, with ketchup rice mixed with ham, onions, topped with fluffy egg and fresh tomatoes. This dish would make a great picture even if a geisha were to eat it!

Today's lunch at this cute and poppy restaurant, Grill Fukuya. I ordered the famous Fukuya Rice, which is a hot ketchup rice topped with a soft-boiled egg, green peas, mushrooms, sliced tomatoes, and ham. The colors are popping and the taste is nostalgic and heartwarming. The atmosphere inside the restaurant has a nice Kyoto vibe. It was delicious! Thank you for the meal.

Located north of Matsubara Bridge Park between Kawabata Street and Shingucho Street, when you enter east from Kawabata Street to Matsubara Street in Higashiyama Ward, Kyoto City. The exterior has a simple and unpretentious appearance that blends in with the surroundings, while the interior has a warm and cozy atmosphere with a lot of character. The menu mainly consists of classic Western dishes that are well-prepared, with a variety of appetizers and drinks available. During lunchtime service, you can choose from three different set meals with different main dishes from the opening until 2 p.m. The Fukuya Rice, a specialty born from the request of geisha, is a must-try dish where ham rice is covered in a creamy half-boiled egg. The ham rice has a simple yet flavorful taste with a hint of salt and pepper, and the addition of onions gives it a smooth and mellow flavor. The ingredients are finely chopped for easy eating, and the presence of tomatoes adds a refreshing acidity. The dish is well-balanced and the texture of the green peas scattered throughout can be enjoyed. It is served with cherry tomatoes and parsley as a garnish, giving it a light and colorful appearance. Fukuya Rice has been a favorite among geisha for many years, as it is made without using strong-smelling ingredients. The walls are lined with numerous Kyoto round fans, creating an impression of a restaurant that is loved by a wide range of customers.

This is my second visit to this restaurant♪ Established in the Meiji era in 1907, this long-standing shop may not have the original building, but as someone from the Showa era, I feel a sense of nostalgia, as the current shop seems to be from that time period. It brings back nostalgic feelings. During my last visit, I ordered the "Tonkatsu set meal" from the lunch menu. It was a delicious Western-style tonkatsu. However, I was also curious about the "Fukuya Rice," so I decided to try it this time. While they also offer regular omurice, the "Fukuya Rice" was a colorful and refreshing omurice that was very delicious♪

Located near the Kamo River, is it in the Gion Gojo area? The Western-style restaurant offers delicious traditional dishes like pork cutlet and shrimp fry. The food was so tasty and brought back nostalgic feelings. It seems to be popular among celebrities and regular customers. It's a place that is loved by many!

The small shrimp fry comes in 4 pieces, not bad. I want to try it as a single item next time. The spaghetti side dish feels like it was made in advance. The croutons in the consomme soup felt old. The miso soup is delicious. The iced coffee was not too sweet. It tastes good with milk and syrup added. The ice cubes are big and good.

This restaurant is truly soothing! It's so grateful that they continue to offer the Western dishes that I have been familiar with since childhood in this era! I always have their bento for lunch, and the variety of dishes, although not called a children's lunch, brings back the nostalgic taste of my childhood. This place makes me the happiest during lunchtime in Kyoto.

My friend occasionally visits this restaurant for dinner, but due to various reasons, I haven't had the opportunity to visit. However, with the installation of partitions between tables in response to the fourth wave of COVID-19, I am now able to use the restaurant as well. It is clear that this place is very popular among a wide range of age groups. I wonder if the omelette rice is a popular choice here? They offer a variety of dishes ranging from authentic Western cuisine to lunch set meals. There are also customers who simply come in for tea. From 11:00 to 14:00, they offer lunch menus such as tonkatsu set meal, shrimp fry set meal, which come with rice, salad, macaroni (or pasta), and miso soup for 900 yen. The set meals give off a nostalgic vibe of a regular bento box, which may be the secret to its popularity.

I visited the restaurant on Sunday afternoon. During lunchtime, I ordered the Cream Croquette Set for ¥900 (tax included). The croquette filling was minced meat, not seafood. The salad had peeled tomatoes, and boiled cabbage was placed underneath the croquette. The dishes were well-prepared and it was evident that the restaurant is a long-standing Western-style eatery. I finished the meal with a cup of coffee for a total of ¥1,100 (tax included). Thank you for the meal.

The specialty dish "Fukuya Rice" is my favorite among all the rice dishes in the world. It is recommended as a great place for lunch in Kyoto's Miyagawa-cho. The Western-style bento, beef croquettes, and Mexican salad are also delicious and highly recommended, so I am looking forward to going back to eat there again.

I visited here for the first time in about 3 and a half years. It was past 2 o'clock for lunch, so it was not crowded. But it seems like they always serve the same dishes here. On this day, I had the pork chop and asparagus salad, which I really like. The pork chop has a good flavor, but personally, I feel like it has slightly less fat. Maybe because there is a tea shop nearby?

On Tuesday at 12:30, I went to "Grill Fukuya," located a short walk from Shimizu Gojo Station. I ordered the famous "Fukuya Rice (930 yen)." It arrived 15 minutes later. One bite. Delicious. It's like omurice with ketchup rice topped with egg. The egg is creamy, and the tomato's acidity makes it refreshing compared to regular omurice. The simple ingredients like mushrooms, green peas, and ham are neatly combined. The restaurant is known for being popular among geisha in Miyagawa-cho, but it has a cozy atmosphere that feels loved by locals. Lucky for me, drinks were complimentary on Tuesdays. I love these kinds of restaurants. Thank you for the meal.
