The restaurant is located near Amanohashidate, a popular tourist spot, and is a diner. The parking lot is in front of the restaurant, but there are no dividers, so the number of parking spaces available depends on how you park. If you have a small car, you can park around 5-6 cars if you park well. If you have a large car, maybe around 2 cars... When I passed by the other day, it was full with a Lexus and a mid-sized SUV. The restaurant is spacious, with a raised seating area on the left with 4 tables for 4 people each, 3 tables for 4 people in front of a large window, and a counter with 7 seats on the right. It is a convenient layout for families and solo diners. You can enjoy a view of the pine trees of Amanohashidate and the Aso Sea from the table seats, creating a nice atmosphere. Around 1 pm, there were no other customers, and when I tried to sit at the counter, they kindly guided me to a table with a good view. Thank you for your consideration. The set meal menu is written prominently on the blackboard on the wall. Of course, there are also menus available at each table. There are various options such as rice bowls, noodles, udon set meals, Chinese set meals, rice bowl set meals, handmade croquette set meals... typical menu of a local diner. Fried horse mackerel set meal, fried shrimp set meal, sashimi set meal, tempura set meal, okra set meal. This seems like the menu of a seafood diner. Hmm... after much consideration, I decided to order the fried horse mackerel, which I rarely order when dining out. The reason why I don't usually order it will be explained later... After waiting for about 10 minutes, the dishes arrived. They use small horse mackerel for the fried dish. I actually asked about the size of the horse mackerel beforehand and requested a small one. The reason for this will be explained later... Tartar sauce is provided, which is a bit old-fashioned nowadays... When I was a child in a fishing town, we only had soy sauce. (laughs) Enough with the nostalgia, let's dig in. I dipped it in tartar sauce and took a bite. Crispy and fluffy fried horse mackerel. Delicious! Nostalgic! There is no fishy smell or the typical taste of blue fish. I tried soy sauce, but I felt it didn't quite match... The best match for this mild and fluffy fried horse mackerel seemed to be salt. This was a delicious fried horse mackerel. When I was a child, my father would catch a bucket full of small horse mackerel and we would eat sashimi and fried dishes to our heart's content. After moving in high school, I never had it again, and whenever I tried fried horse mackerel outside, it never tasted good. I'm not particularly fond of the unique smell of blue fish in fried dishes. Since then, I stopped ordering fried horse mackerel when dining out. When using fresh small horse mackerel for frying, that unique smell is completely absent. I had a delicious fried horse mackerel that I hadn't tasted in decades. The vinegar dish was also nostalgic with Mozuku vinegar. In a diner at a fishing port in Minamichita, Aichi, it was almost always served. (This is a story from about 40-50 years ago...) The side dish was simmered hijiki and fish paste. This was accompanied by miso soup with clams and pickled radish. As you may have noticed, this type of set meal is not on the menu. They kindly made it for me upon my request, as I was the only customer. Please understand that they don't usually do this. I enjoyed the nostalgic fried horse mackerel, a memory of my late father. Thank you for the meal.
