The 5th round of casual drinking. It's been getting hot during the day recently, so I thought it would be less crowded and planned to go to an oden restaurant, but it was full when I arrived. Oh well, I'll make a reservation next time. So, I remembered seeing a few promising places for casual drinking around the Shijo-Omiya area last time, and decided to visit one of them. It seems to be a restaurant specializing in kushikatsu and sushi. Since I'm alone, I sat at the counter. I ordered a 380 yen (excluding tax) oolong highball as my drink. The appetizer was cabbage with salt dressing, but it was just a small amount of raw cabbage. I later found out that this costs 300 yen (excluding tax), which seemed a bit expensive for just cabbage. I ordered the firefly squid with soy sauce for 350 yen (excluding tax), octopus with vinegar for 500 yen (excluding tax), and the recommended assorted kushikatsu for 500 yen (excluding tax). First, the firefly squid arrived. It was quite salty and went well with the oolong highball. I love firefly squid. Next, the octopus with vinegar arrived. It was a small octopus leg but a generous portion. Served with cucumber strips, sprouts, shiso, and lemon, it was a refreshing dish. Then, the assorted kushikatsu arrived. It included beef, pork, chicken, onion, and shrimp. They were fried in rice oil, making them quite light. The sauce was slightly sweet and low in acidity, quite good. However, I still prefer kushikatsu fried in oil with a richer flavor. Nevertheless, this light version was also enjoyable. I finished my meal quickly and left the restaurant. The cabbage appetizer seemed a bit pricey, but considering the portion size, it was reasonable. The other dishes were quite affordable, so the cost performance seems to be high. 3.2
