Cake set for 1100 yen (?). It's a white chocolate-based brandy cake. The alcohol flavor is quite strong. If you like brandy, you'll probably love it! The shop is quite small. It was a weekday, so I could relax quite a bit.

This is a cute shop that you might overlook while passing by. The interior is retro and cozy. I recommend the Vienna coffee and tart cake set. The Mont Blanc tart has a subtle sweetness, and the strawberry blueberry tart has a nice balance of tartness that goes well with the cream on top.

This is a cake shop that has been in Demachiyanagi for a long time. I recommend the Mont Blanc tart with a perfect combination of chestnut cream and chocolate! In the past, there were many cakes lined up in the showcase, but after reopening the shop following the closure due to the pandemic, they have reduced the variety of cakes they offer. They also display antique accessories, making it a lovely shop.

*Pomme Chou + Iced Tea ¥1080
An antique café ☕︎ run by a lady on her own, so the waiting time is long. I chose the Pomme Chou, which is said to be freshly baked! It looks like a cream puff, but it's not just a cream puff... because it's freshly baked, when you cut into it, the surface is crispy and crunchy. Inside, there is plenty of custard cream and cinnamon cream. On top of the cream, there is apple compote. When you pour the caramel sauce provided separately, it transforms into a custard × caramel pudding cream. The taste keeps changing and it's exciting until the end ☺️ It may be hard to tell from the photo, but it was really delicious, with a surprising amount of volume and flavor beyond my expectations ✨

The bus stopped at a traffic light, and a picture of a delicious cake caught my eye. It was in front of a café. I was not supposed to get off until the next bus stop, but I decided to get off and go back. The shop had a retro feel and was a small café. Their specialty seemed to be homemade cakes. The menu offered a variety of cakes, and when I visited around 3 pm, some cakes were already sold out. The "Pomme de Chou" caught my attention. Inside the choux pastry were three layers: caramel cream, apple compote, and whipped cream. Caramel sauce was also served on the side, allowing for extra caramel drizzling. As I sat at a table facing outside, I noticed that most people passing by would stop and look at the large picture of the Pomme de Chou. I am interested in trying other cakes, so I plan to visit again!

I wanted to go to Doshisha Parfait, but they were sold out, so I decided to come here instead because I really wanted something sweet! The tea and strawberry tart I ordered was 1100 yen. The place seemed to be run by a slightly older woman, who was managing everything by herself. The café was full, so she seemed quite busy. The cake was delicious, but it took a little longer than expected.

A shop located a little away from Demachiyanagi shopping street. I had always wanted to visit this place after seeing it while taking a walk, with French dolls and antique tableware displayed in the store. My wish came true when I visited with two friends for tea. We arrived around 3 o'clock and the store was full of customers. Luckily, some people were leaving and we were able to enter easily. As we sat at the table, the kind pastry chef explained the menu to us, and honestly, everything looked delicious, so we had a hard time deciding. The cakes available this time were freshly made strawberry tart, freshly made strawberry and blueberry tart, cake with cream and white chocolate, Mont Blanc, and nut cake, a total of 5 types. I couldn't decide in an instant! I showed my indecisiveness after a long time. After taking our time to choose, I settled on the Mont Blanc. My friends ordered the strawberry tart and strawberry x blueberry tart respectively. We also got a set with tea. The shop played French music softly, and there were fresh roses on the tables. The cake plates were in the shape of droplets, and the teapot and cups were white with lace carvings. From the decorations to even the spoons, you could feel the owner's dedication in every detail. And the cakes were beautiful too! The Mont Blanc I ordered had tart crust at the bottom and a combination of tiramisu and Mont Blanc on top, a truly unique creation. It was completely different from the usual swirl Mont Blanc, yet the flavors harmonized perfectly. My friends, who ordered the strawberry and blueberry tart, were impressed that the blueberries on top were fresh, not frozen. With the pleasant atmosphere and delicious cakes, our girls' talk went on for 2 hours without us realizing. I would like to visit again to try a different cake.

Here, in Demachiyanagi, there is a cute and slightly retro shop with a classical atmosphere. I think it's a popular place. The tarts with La France pear, strawberry, and grape, along with tea, are delicious. The tart is lightly sweetened and the custard has a nice fruity aroma, making it tasty. The tart crust is also light. The tea has a good fragrance and tastes delicious too. Walking around Kyoto, you come across some nice cafes, not just in Demachiyanagi. I discovered another pleasant cafe on this day. I feel like Kyoto has more stylish shops compared to Osaka. You won't know the taste until you try, but I tend to choose places based on appearance.

I found this shop while wandering around the vicinity of Demachiyanagi Station. I chose a cake from the showcase at the entrance of the shop. When asked if I wanted to dine in or take out, I decided to have the cake and coffee inside the shop. The shop was long and narrow, with a piano in the back. The warm orange lighting made it quite cozy. Both the coffee and the cake were delicious. It's a great place to relax and maybe find your favorite cake in front of the shop. Perfect for a little break! ♡

This is a cake shop located on the north side of the intersection of Kawaramachi Imadegawa, heading west. There is also a café space at the back. The interior and furniture are in an antique style, making it a very charming shop. It had been a while since I last visited, but the cakes were still delicious as always. The elegant sweetness was just right. The coffee had a pleasant bitterness that paired well with the cake and was delicious.

It was delicious! It was a bit heavy on the stomach, but it tasted great with the alcohol.

While strolling through Demachiyanagi, I came across a shop that caught my eye. The cakes looked delicious, but I was in the mood for something hearty, so I decided to have a sandwich this time. It wasn't particularly amazing, but it was simply delicious.

A long-established patisserie located in the Demachiyanagi area, along Imadegawa Street. I visited on a weekday morning. The interior of the shop is a lovely fairytale space created by the owner, who is also an illustrator. The showcase is filled with numerous cakes, and for lunch, you can enjoy spaghetti or omurice. I chose coffee, served in a cute cup that left a strong impression.

The souffle cheesecake is smooth and melts in your mouth. It has a light texture and is very delicious. It pairs well with black tea. The crispy pie I received from a friend before was also delicious and good.

In the morning, I visited the Hyakumanben Handmade Market, and in the afternoon, I walked towards Kyoto Imperial Palace while looking for a place to have lunch. I came across a cake shop with a big showcase, and although the cakes looked delicious, I was looking for lunch. However, my friend pointed out that they also serve lunch. We went inside and saw the lunch menu on a board by the entrance. The lunch for the day was Chicken and Broccoli Omelette Rice (in cream sauce) with a vegetable salad and a hot drink for 870 yen. I started with the salad and then tried the omelette rice. It was topped with a generous amount of white sauce with large pieces of chicken and broccoli, almost like a cream stew. Underneath was the omelette rice, which was not the usual ketchup rice but more like pilaf or butter rice, a delightful surprise. It was served piping hot and warmed me up nicely. The coffee was also brought at the right time, making the lunch experience quite satisfying.

Located along Imadegawa Street, this retro-looking cafe is easy to spot. They offer tea and light meals in addition to cakes. A popular choice is the "Camembert" cake, known for its balanced combination of Camembert and cream cheese. It's not too heavy and the acidity is just right, making you want to come back for more. The "Harugasumi" cake, available only in spring, features a fluffy souffle with a mochi-like texture on the outside. The matcha mousse and red bean cream are generously layered, creating a beautiful and delicious treat. Overall, the cakes exceeded expectations and I look forward to trying more varieties next time. Bon appétit!
