Today, I came here. The quiet atmosphere of the restaurant with local radio playing softly, with the kitchen on the left, a counter with 6 seats along the side, and 2 raised tatami seating areas in the back. The quiet and gray-haired owner manages the place alone. The lunch menu offers two options: "miso cutlet" and "tuna bowl" sets, and in the evening, various dishes are available, giving it a pub-like feel. I ordered the "miso cutlet set" and the aroma coming from the fryer was delightful. The pork cutlet, topped with flavorful red miso, had a thin crispy coating and was tender with a nice crunch. When eaten with the accompanying spicy mustard, it was very satisfying. The unfamiliar "soppuchanko" was a cold soup with a refreshing dashi broth, thin noodles, chopped fried toppings, and soft-cooked vegetables, reminiscent of a local specialty with a simple and delicious taste. It was so delicious. I finished it with potato salad, yuzu-flavored pickles, and a surprise dessert of watermelon. Everything was done with great care and attention to detail. Especially the "soppuchanko" was perfect for a sweaty body. This place seems to be appreciated by the locals as there are not many drinking spots around here. The service was good. Thank you for the meal. Accessibility: No wheelchair access, Japanese-style seating in the back right, and there is parking space for about 2 cars on the premises.

After a long time, I went to eat Chanpon hot pot to warm up because it's cold outside! Thank you for always welcoming me warmly and kindly, and for the delicious and enjoyable time! The special dish was natto and tuna mixed together! There is parking space for 1-2 cars!

Another visit to my favorite chanko restaurant in the neighborhood, Kotonofuji. The photo shows a refreshing cucumber chanko dish with homemade miso, perfect for the summer heat to prevent fatigue. The rich miso flavor paired with fresh cucumbers goes well with alcohol. And even in the summer, the hot pot chanko, also known as "soup pot," never disappoints with its delicious taste. I always leave fully satisfied with their commitment to quality. The menu offers a variety of side dishes, making it my favorite spot. Thank you for the delicious meal!

Tonight is still quite cold, so it's perfect for a hot pot! I went to Kotonofuji in Uji, Kyoto. This is a local chanko restaurant that I occasionally visit. The photo is of the "soppu nabe" hot pot. The staff here take care of everything, so it's easy and relaxing. The taste is delicious, and the side dishes before the chanko are also great. The firefly squid tempura is amazing, especially when mixed with seaweed. The potato salad has salami on top, and the fish is also delicious. And to finish off, you can choose between ramen or zosui (rice porridge), both are excellent. Dining here once a month would be great. Thank you for the delicious meal!

It was about 20 years ago when I had chanko at a small banquet at this restaurant. I remember that they didn't serve lunch, but when I passed by during lunchtime, it seemed like they were open. I parked in the adjacent garage and confirmed that they were indeed open. The interior had a traditional atmosphere, with a small counter for 7 seats and 2 small raised tables. The background music was simply a radio. I ordered the only lunch menu item, the "tuna bowl set" for 1,000 yen. While waiting for the food, I chatted with the chef. He mentioned that they used to serve lunch in the past but recently resumed. The restaurant seemed to have a connection with the Sadogake stable. As for the food, the tuna bowl set consisted of a bowl of rice topped with sliced tuna (katsuo) coated in sesame sauce, sprinkled with chopped green onions and topped with seaweed. The katsuo was fresh, the sesame sauce was not overpowering, and the dish was well-balanced. Alongside, there was simmered daikon radish, which was flavorful and well-cooked. The miso soup had tofu, fried tofu, and chopped green onions, all adding to a satisfying meal. I initially thought 1,000 yen was a bit expensive for this area, but after tasting the meal, I was pleased with my lunch choice.

The recommended dish at this restaurant is the Chanko Nabe. You can choose from three flavors: miso, soy sauce, and curry. The restaurant itself is small, but the taste is excellent. It contains a variety of vegetables and meat, with a delicious broth. I tried all three types of Chanko Nabe, and they were all delicious. They also pay attention to the fish, so you can enjoy fresh sashimi. They also offer some unique dishes. After the Chanko Nabe, I recommend trying the zosui (rice porridge) or the miso rice balls. The miso rice balls have a slightly sweet taste with a hint of garlic, and they are so delicious that you could eat as many as you want.
