Arashiyama's main street is bustling with foreign languages and tourists. Just a turn away into the residential area is "Nakagawa" restaurant. It's quiet here, away from the crowds. Surprisingly, tucked away in the center is a charming little restaurant with a bright, glass interior that catches the eye of passersby. They offer a lunch course of Kyoto cuisine. I was so engrossed in conversation that I don't remember the details, sorry. The dishes were cute and the meal included three pieces of sushi. It's a nice place to enjoy a leisurely meal in Arashiyama.

"Revisited Naka River in the afternoon on 17.11.02, taking a walk in Arashiyama. It's a bit hard to find as it's located in a small alley off the main street. It was quite popular and we were lucky to find one table available around 12:30. We ordered a beer and waited for about 15 minutes for the Matsukado bento to arrive. It seemed like the portion was slightly smaller than usual. Not just me, but my partner also felt the same. I heard they were going to raise prices in November, and indeed, the Matsukado bento went from 1800 yen to 2000 yen. Also, the tax used to be included but now it's added separately. Therefore, this time, I would give fewer stars than usual. Thank you for the meal."

On August 22nd in the afternoon, I decided to revisit "Nakagawa" after a long time and drove to Arashiyama (^-^) It's been two years since my last visit! Last time, there was only one table available and I was lucky. This time, there were only three groups of customers since it was past 1 o'clock. All three groups were tourists from overseas. I had been having the Matsukado bento for the past visits, so this time I tried the sushi set. It came with an appetizer, 8 pieces of sushi, miso soup, and warabi mochi. The appetizer was served first, with sesame tofu, grilled squid with sea urchin, pickles, and more. It was evident that the owner put a lot of effort into preparing it (*^.^*) After a while, the sushi arrived. It included tuna, squid, shrimp, eel, salmon, and more - all eight varieties. The owner, who used to be a fishmonger, definitely knows his stuff, as everything was delicious (≧▽≦) Finally, we had warabi mochi and tea to finish off the meal. The atmosphere of the restaurant and the attentive service of the staff make it one of my favorite places to dine. Thank you for the delicious meal☆

"Revisited during a drive on 30th October, passed through Arashiyama so decided to visit Nakagawa-san after a long time. It had been exactly one year☆ We arrived around 1 o'clock but the place was full and it seemed that those who came after us couldn't get in (^^; Everyone except my partner was a woman~ It took a bit of time for the food to come out but they were very apologetic, almost making us feel sorry in return. The delicious food made us feel like indulging in luxury again during lunch (*^.^*) Thank you for the meal☆ Visited for lunch on 11th November, just a 2-minute walk from Arashiyama Station on the Randen Arashiyama line. We were wandering in search of lunch and happened to stumble upon this place☆ The exterior had a calming atmosphere, and when we saw the lunch menu outside, we were surprised by how reasonable it was (≧∇≦) You can get dishes like Matsukado bento, sushi set, and unadon for 1000 to 1800 yen☆ My partner and I quickly decided on the Matsukado bento (*^.^*) Of course, beer and hot sake were a must (lol) The interior was as nice as the exterior, with a calming atmosphere~ There were table seats and counter seats, I think? I didn't look closely, sorry (^^; The layout makes you feel relaxed☆ The Matsukado bento comes in a bento box, with a lid included. Opening the lid yourself is also part of the fun☆ Inside, there were over 20 items like simmered dishes, grilled dishes, sashimi, etc. It also came with rice, soup, and dessert. The rice had shredded mountain pepper on top. The dessert was matcha warabi mochi. Everything was delicately made with a subtle Kyoto flavor. For some reason, the sake was Shirakashiyama... (^u^) I like Shirakashiyama so it was fine. It seems they have an omakase course in the evening~ I'm sure they serve delicious dishes. Found a great restaurant☆ Thank you for the meal☆"

I went to this store and ordered a sushi set, and it was really delicious! Plus, the cost performance is great compared to other stores around here. The sea bream sushi in particular was amazing with the shiso leaf on top adding a fantastic flavor. The appetizers before the sushi also go really well with beer. The atmosphere is calm and homey, which is nice. It's like a hidden gem that sparks a sense of adventure and leaves you feeling 120% satisfied. I recommend it to anyone going to Arashiyama.
