I went to the final day of the Mitarashi Festival. Normally, they accept reservations, but during the festival period, it is first come, first served at the store. I arrived around 11:30 and waited for about 20 minutes before being seated. You can choose three items from the showcase if you order a set. I ordered the main dish of Gapao rice, roast beef salad, and oil-soaked gizzards. The gizzards were delicious.

The area around Shimogamo Shrine is crowded with shops. The lunch was also full, so I chose something filling - "Gateau Chocolat" for 605 yen and a coffee. The lunch set at Shimogamo Deli is a good deal, where you can choose a main and side dishes.

I planned to go to Asai Shokudo, but it was too crowded so I ended up at Shimogamo Deli. The food was just okay, nothing special. I don't feel like going back again. Considering the price of 1,500 yen, the cost performance is not good. I wonder why it's so popular. I think it wouldn't be popular if it wasn't near Shimogamo Shrine.

Resting in front of Shimogamo Shrine ^^ I chose the Deli Set, which allows you to choose three types of deli dishes. I selected the cream pasta with Kyoto green onions, roast beef salad, salmon salad, and omelette. Even if there are no items in the showcase, don't give up and ask! Payment is made in advance. The three deli dishes were served with a generous portion that did not lose to the main dishes! The omelette, cut into squares, had a gentle taste that moved me. The carrots in it were juicy and fresh! The pasta with Kyoto green onions was sweet and delicious... My friend said, "Isn't everything in this restaurant delicious...?" and we all agreed. The restaurant's dedication and care for its customers really came through. Thank you for a wonderful time in Kyoto.

On a sunny day, I went to a friend's house for a party! I was looking forward to it - their main house and garden were amazing. We decided to go early and have lunch first. However, since it was a holiday, everywhere around Shimogamo was crowded with lines! I was running out of time and started to panic, then I remembered a deli shop. Luckily, there was a table available, so I ordered the fastest dish - paella and ginger ale. The shop had a nice selection of ingredients and the flavors were gentle. I have bought their items a few times as gifts for busy working friends. I saw some delicious salads and seasonal vegetables in the display case, but I didn't have time to try them. I quickly ate and rushed to the event at a beautiful house with a well-maintained garden along the Kamo River. It was a traditional Japanese-style house with elegant music and dance. I had a wonderful time and realized that there is such a world as well. I was probably the only commoner among the guests, feeling relieved that I didn't wear sneakers. After enjoying the elegant atmosphere, I returned to my car and back to reality. I thought I should cool down with a coffee.

Located right near the Shimogamo Shrine. I have stopped by a few times on my way to the shrine. They offer a combination of pasta, paella, and Western-style side dishes for a meal. By the way, the combination of paella and three side dishes costs a little over 1700 yen... quite a bold pricing. Did not check beforehand. You can get herring soba for 500 yen. It's almost the same as adding dessert to a lunch at a trattoria-style Italian restaurant. The taste is not bad at all. The pumpkin salad had a nice touch of acidity. The paella was cooked well too. It's just a matter of how it compares to the surrounding restaurants.

I love Kyoto so much. The coronavirus situation has started to calm down, so I decided to go on a trip to Kyoto. It seems like I was a week or two early for the autumn leaves season though. I left Sendai in the morning and arrived at Kyoto Station in the early afternoon. After dropping off our luggage at the hotel where we were staying, we headed to Shimogamo Shrine. It was already past 1:00 PM, so we decided to have lunch before visiting the shrine. We found a stylish restaurant right around the corner from the main street leading to Shimogamo Shrine and decided to go in. It was a shop that combined a deli with a cafe. After ordering and paying at the register, we waited at our table. My husband said he was fine with anything as long as there was beer, so I ordered seafood paella and a hamburger that I wanted to eat. The hamburger was part of a set menu. The set menu was an additional 550 yen on top of the main menu item. You could choose three items from the deli displayed in the showcase as part of the set. They were all vegetable-rich deli items, which seemed good and suitable as beer snacks. It seemed to be a popular shop. Even though it was past lunchtime, there was no shortage of customers. After the food arrived, I went to the register to order beer. When you order a set menu, the drink is 100 yen off, so even though I ordered the beer later, they still gave me the discount. (I was happy!) The paella, hamburger, and deli items were all lightly seasoned and had a healthy feel to them. I was satisfied, but my husband, who was used to the strong flavors of ramen, had a displeased look on his face. He said, "The beer is good, but where are the snacks?" I replied, "This is just right. Now, let's go visit the shrine!" Posted 2022/2

On a holiday lunch break, I decided to stop by after visiting Shimogamo Shrine. I found this place on my phone, it looked good. It's located right at the corner of the main street, just outside the west parking lot of Shimogamo Shrine. The lunch set includes a main dish and three side dishes. I ordered the following: Butter Chicken Curry as the main dish, and for the side dishes, Omelette, Grilled Eggplant, Lasagna, and Bitter Gourd Stir-Fry. There are over 10 side dish options to choose from, so it was a bit hard to decide! The curry and side dishes all had a warm, homely deliciousness to them. It took about 30 minutes for the food to arrive, so there was a bit of a wait.

I have been going to the area around Shimogamo Shrine recently. The forest of Shimogamo Shrine creates a nice atmosphere with a relaxed feel away from the busy city. I parked my car in the parking lot and as I was walking around, I found this shop at the entrance of the shrine. I saw gentlemen and foreigners who seemed to have just finished their visit to the shrine entering the shop after looking at the signboard outside. When the traffic light changed, I also checked the signboard and entered the shop (laughs). The style is to combine a main dish with side dishes (deli). Since I didn't have much time, I initially planned to order just one main dish and one deli, but when I saw the beautifully displayed and delicious-looking deli items in the showcase, I quickly changed my mind to "Butter Chicken Curry with 3 deli items set (1500 yen excluding tax)..." There are more than 10 types of deli items, all of which look delicious and are reassuring with a good balance of nutrients. I ordered "Couscous Salad," "Stuffed Shishito Peppers," and "Colorful Vegetable and Ham Omelette." There are many tables for two people, and the window side has a counter, creating an atmosphere that is easy for even one person to enter. I sat at the counter and gazed out the window leisurely. The traffic around here is not too busy, so you can relax. The beautifully presented plate in the photo arrived during this pleasant waiting time. I must say, the "Butter Chicken Curry" exceeded my expectations in terms of deliciousness. It's quite spicy and authentic, with the chicken and vegetables being substantial. Among the deli items, the "Stuffed Shishito Peppers" which is my favorite, left a strong impression, but all of them had delicious flavors with thoughtful preparation, making me very satisfied. The variety and direction of the "main" menu are intriguing. Sometimes, restaurants with slightly international menus can be disappointing, but based on the quality of the "Butter Chicken Curry" and the deli items I had this time, it seems like there are no mistakes here, and I'm looking forward to trying out different "main" dishes. I started to imagine enjoying a lunch meeting with my mom friends, taking out deli items and main dishes to treat my family at home... it would be nice, I thought (laughs).

After a slow three-day weekend, I went to Kyoto for some autumn leaf viewing. I skipped breakfast and wandered around until finally having lunch. I could have just had the main dish, but I felt like I was being asked to choose three items from the showcase! So, I had the main dish of Carbonara with Kujo Negi, and the side dishes of lasagna, Spanish omelette, and carrot coconut milk salad. The Carbonara was tasty, but I would call it a cream pasta. The carrot coconut milk salad had crushed almonds mixed in, giving it a nice texture. Thank you for the meal.

I went to Shimogamo Shrine after visiting Kamigamo Shrine. Feeling a bit thirsty before praying at the shrine, we stopped by this shop nearby. We ordered an "Ice Cream Double" for 550 yen (including 10% tax) and a "Ginger Ale" for 440 yen (including 10% tax). There was a discount of 100 yen for ordering them as a set, so we paid a total of 890 yen. Both were just average.

I visited Shimogamo Shrine and had a slightly late lunch. I ordered a set menu where you can choose 3 items from the deli showcase. Everything was delicious, and the use of herbs was stylish. I am full and satisfied, although I felt that the price was a bit high for a lunch. Well, I got to try a variety of dishes, so I am happy.

As you get older, eating a lot can become difficult (it's sad). Leave the volume-heavy restaurants to the younger crowd. When visiting Shimogamo Shrine, I was looking for a late lunch spot. I found a deli where you can choose from a variety of dishes. They offer several main dishes, as well as pasta, rice dishes, and meat dishes. You can also add a set of three of your favorite deli items. My wife opted for a pasta dish, while I chose the grilled chicken with a deli set. The restaurant doesn't have any outstanding features, but the food is well-prepared. It's a good option for regular customers, as you won't get tired of the menu. You choose your food at the counter, pay, and they bring it to your table. It was delicious, thank you for the meal!

A shop with a wide variety of deli dishes. You can choose 3 items and they will pack them together for you. I ordered a salad with pumpkin and dried fruits for takeout and enjoyed it by the nearby river. The pricing is a bit high, but it's nice to be able to try a variety of small portions. You can also eat in the shop. Thank you for the meal!!

I finally visited a restaurant that I had been curious about for three years! It looked so stylish that I couldn't get close, but I decided I was grown up enough to go. You order first. The menu was so enticing that I had a hard time deciding, but I finally settled on the Gapao rice and chai, believing that I will come back again. The Gapao rice was a bit luxurious, and at first I thought there were not many ingredients, but they were hidden under the fried egg. The seasoning was amazing, just the right amount of richness! The chai was also strong, which made me happy. The atmosphere was nice, and everything in the store was stylish. I think it would be cool if I could recommend this place!

I visited this restaurant during my visit to the Shimogamo Shrine. The lunch set consisted of one main dish and three choices of deli items from the refrigerated case. The ordering and payment were done upfront, and then you waited for your meal to be served. The simple interior and bright seating area felt clean and minimalistic. Self-service items like cold water and wet towels were available.
The Basil Chicken Rice Lunch featured pounded chicken instead of ground, showing respect for Thai cuisine and attention to detail. The flavor was clean and not overpowering, with a subtle taste that didn't overpower with fish sauce. The dish had a light seasoning that was more subdued and delicate compared to typical Thai dishes. The texture was like fluffy minced meat with a gentle umami flavor. Breaking the half-cooked fried egg over the dish was a delight. The dish was visually appealing with red fruits, paprika powder, and green basil, creating a balanced and comforting meal.
I also ordered the following deli items:
- Mackerel Escabeche: The well-fried white fish with a crispy texture blended well with the vegetables, reminiscent of a ceviche.
- Gizzard and Mushroom Confit: The tender confit gizzard, without any tough parts, was exceptionally soft.
- Lentil Salad: The vinegar flavor was rich yet gentle, enhancing the texture of the lentils.
Overall, I rate this meal 2.2 stars. While I continue to explore the depth of Kyoto cuisine, enjoying various international dishes adds a nice touch. The subtle and gentle flavors of this meal made me feel the influence of Kyoto cuisine without being overpowering. It was a delightful dining experience. Thank you for the meal.

【Wide variety of deli options * Full on weekdays too!】 Just outside one of the exits of Shimogamo Shrine! Along the roadside in a corner, there is a deli shop with a simple exterior but a cozy interior with a touch of American atmosphere. ・Butter Chicken Curry @ Deli 3 set 1450 yen ・Gapao Rice @ Deli 3 set 1350 yen The variety of deli options is amazing ♡♡ I had a hard time deciding which ones to choose. This time, I had Negi Lasagna, Mushroom and Gizzard Confit, and Broccoli, Shrimp, and Egg Anchovy Salad. Each dish was served in small containers and plated nicely, making it enjoyable to eat ♪♪ I think there were about 10 deli options. It was a weekday, but after 12 o'clock, customers kept coming in one after another! It seems to be very popular and thriving.

Next up after Russia is the Mediterranean cuisine at Shimogamo's Shimogamo Deli. I ordered the Hummus and Sesame Cracker Deli Box x 2, along with a couscous salad and Escabeche. Choosing from the tempting Mediterranean dishes in the showcase is a delight for foodies! The Hummus in particular was delicious. Dips are a staple of Mediterranean cuisine and can be enjoyed with crackers, bread, or rice. I once made Baba Ganoush using various Japanese ingredients, and Mediterranean dishes made with local ingredients are definitely worth trying. The olive oil used here is from Shodoshima! The world is truly vast, and the food is delicious. Thank you for the wonderful meal!

Set menu where you choose a main dish and three side dishes. Options include chicken cheese bake, potato salad, lasagna, and omelette for around ¥2000. It's not cheap, but the delicious food makes it worth it. Even better if it can be around ¥1500.

After visiting the Shimogamo Shrine, we had lunch. The menu allowed us to choose three types of favorite deli items and select from several main dishes. The quiche had a strong buttery flavor in the crust. The cafe's interior was stylish and cozy.
