Moto-bo-san Bar. It was a calm and stylish Japanese-style shop. I visited on a full stomach so I didn't order much, but there were many types of alcohol and various delicious-looking tasting sets that caught my eye. There were also filling foods like curry, so it seems like a good place to visit even when you're hungry. I will visit again.

I visited this place because I came to Kyoto on a pilgrimage to see Buddha. I had a lot of sake at the first place I visited, so my memory is a bit hazy, but... I chatted with the bartender about the Buddha statues I saw that day and enjoyed an IPA made in Kyoto. I also felt like trying some Islay malt, so I had some Ardbeg as well. The atmosphere was really nice. I had a great time drinking, but if I bothered the customer next to me, I apologize. If I come back next time, I'll try to drink a little less. Thank you for the hospitality.

It's a bar in Kyoto where you can drink with a Buddhist monk. Besides the unique feature of having Buddha statues, the menu is also filled with typical bar food options. Conversations with the master mainly revolve around Buddhism. As someone from Kyoto, it's definitely worth a visit.

Near Horikawa High School, the main branch is currently under renovation, so they are operating in a temporary appearance. It's located north on Teramachi Street from City Hall Station on the Tozai Subway Line. Just before the Kyoto Imperial Palace, turn left into the alley. The main branch is scheduled to open on December 8th. It seems that it's because it's the anniversary of Buddha and John Lennon's deaths... Hmm, interesting. The temporary store is small, with a counter and a table for four. It has a cozy atmosphere, perfect for a relaxing time. When I visited around 8 pm, there were three young men at the table. The gentle Kyoto dialect was soothing to hear. It's been about a year since I last visited. The owner, who is also a monk and bartender, welcomed me warmly. After trying their recommended drink... We talked about the impact of COVID-19 on Kyoto. The city feels quiet without foreign tourists, especially during the usual autumn foliage season. I remembered a busy November weekend two years ago when Kyoto was packed with visitors enjoying the fall colors. It seems like the city has been hit hard by the absence of tourists from around the world. As the conversation with the owner continued, three ladies arrived looking for the place. As the atmosphere became more intimate, I decided to leave. I look forward to the reopening of the main branch. Thank you for the meal.

If there were Destruction Layer, Shimako Todou, and Hell Girl here, please come to me! It's a normal bar with a few types of whiskey. There doesn't seem to be bourbon. The food is pretty good. The curry ran out of rice and became bread, but it was actually good. The menu photos were taken randomly, so they may be hard to read due to the lighting. Japan Discovery 3-piece set with premium grain mustard to eat with Wiener assortment Curry using Koshu wine beef with a snack of hojicha (Kyoto Nijo Yanagisakuraen) [Additional note] Japan Discovery 3-piece set includes the following beers, wines, whiskeys, snacks, and Camembert cheese: ● Kyoto Brewing Sanbon no Ya https://kyotobrewing.com/products/sanbon-no-ya ● Azucca e Azucco Le Bibarq Bibanco 2015 White http://www.imadeya.co.jp/introduction/3928/ ● Mars Malt Le Papillon Gifucho https://www.hombo.co.jp/item/whisky_brandy/mars_malt_le_papillon_singlecask_l_japonica/

This is a famous bar in Kyoto. It is a quiet place where you can relax. It is said that the bar is run by a Buddhist monk, and there are also branches in Tokyo. There are counter seats, tables in the front, and tatami seating in the back. The bar's specialty is whiskey, but I prefer beer. They have one type of draft beer, and I ordered the Minowa W-IPA, which I love. However, it took a long time for the beer to be served, which was frustrating. The snacks include nuts and vegetable sticks with unique miso seasoning. They put some effort into the snacks, so it might be worth trying if you have time.

I visited a bar recommended by an acquaintance living in Kyoto, which was quite interesting. It's a place where you can drink while listening to the sermon of the resident priest. Inside the bar, there was a master who seemed to be the priest, conversing in English with a foreign customer. Although I couldn't understand much, I felt a sense of Kyoto. The atmosphere inside was dimly lit and very moody. The bell used to call the staff was reminiscent of a temple chime. Even the path to the restroom was stylish. The place exuded a timeless charm. They offered a wide selection of drinks such as whiskey, craft beer, and wine, all of which were delicious. Unfortunately, the counter was full, so I couldn't chat with the "priest". Maybe next time.

Under the sky of a trip to Kyoto. I will intrude into Nirvana for a bit, but it's my regular spot. After finishing my dinner at a hidden gem in Shijo Kawaramachi, I head there by city bus. The bus network in Kyoto city is incredibly convenient once you get the hang of it. The grid-like road network makes it easy to navigate even if you make a slight mistake. The street where Nirvana is located is a dark residential area with nothing around, so I always get a bit nervous wondering if I'm in the right place, but after a few times, I arrived smoothly. Good evening~. Oh my. It's so quiet now compared to the autumn leaves the other day. Well, this is the true essence of Nirvana. I was guided to the bar counter by the owner and bartender. First, I had a sparkling wine. I forgot the brand, but it was a unique bottle with sediment at the bottom. It seems to be like a grape version of Dassai sparkling wine. There was only one lady sitting at the counter seat. Oh, it's the local lady I met last time. It's rare to meet her again. The Akashi whisky I saw on a TV show recently was on display. I wanted to try it, so this is the place. I had a glass of it in the middle, and chatted with the owner about various things. The night grew late. Oh, what a fun time. Thank you for the meal.

When I visited in early October, the owner said, "I'll be here next month too!" So, when I received a message from the owner saying, "Are you coming tonight?" I replied, "Yes, I'll be there!" In a slightly tipsy mood, I took the subway and a city bus to the restaurant near Sanjo Ohashi. The street where the restaurant is located is pitch black after sunset, so I always end up wondering if I've gone too far. But then I spot the convenience store and realize I'm almost there. I arrived safely and was greeted warmly. The restaurant was packed due to the autumn foliage season and a mini concert that evening. Luckily, they had saved a counter seat for me. I started with a glass of bubbly, followed by a rare sparkling wine selected by the owner from Aichi Prefecture. Then I tried a single malt whisky recommended by the owner, made by a now deceased French master distiller. Once this bottle is finished, it's gone for good. The French influence made the atmosphere feel more elegant and sophisticated. The whisky was smooth and gentle, with a feminine touch. I couldn't chat much with the owner due to the constant ordering, but it was a delightful bar time. Next time, I'll try the spring whisky. It was a wonderful dining experience.

Located around halfway between Shijo-Karasuma Station and Shijo-Omiya Station, this place is a bit off the bustling center of Kyoto. However, it's incredibly popular among foreign visitors. The owner and bartender is a current monk. I've visited here multiple times, usually after work for a relaxing atmosphere. Tonight, I sat next to a female student from Taiwan who loves Japan. Starting with the monk's selection, I tried a Hokkaido sparkling wine. Initially, it seemed overly sweet on the tongue, but it smoothly went down the throat like water, leaving a grape aroma in the nose. It was a unique drinking experience. The place got busy with more customers, so I settled the bill early and left. Thank you for the meal.

I heard about a bar run by a monk, so I went to check it out. It's located a bit away from the center of Kyoto, in a house with counter seats, table seats, and tatami seats. The atmosphere was very chill, maybe because they have tatami seats? I heard that this bar serves Japanese wine, so I started with a wine from Shion Winery. It was delicious. For the second drink, I wanted to try the craft gin from Tatsumi Distillery in Gifu, so I ordered that. It had a nice juniper berry aroma. It was said to have a limited berry scent, but I couldn't really tell. The cream cheese we ordered with it was also really tasty. I was curious about what a monk's bar would be like, if they would give sermons or something, but it turned out to be a lovely bar with a calming and special atmosphere.

We visited the Imperial Palace, the State Guest House, Nijo Castle, and Ninna-ji Temple, and ended our day quietly at a monk bar. We asked for a sermon and received a wonderful story. Thank you so much.

Tobacco is prohibited so you can purely enjoy the taste of alcohol. There are tatami rooms where you can relax. I didn't have time to talk to the monk, but I would like to visit again and take my time. There was also a wide variety of alcohol available.

The old shop name is "Bouzu Bar Kyoto", which is very Kyoto-like, with a Buddhist monk as the bartender. Recommended are carefully selected wines and sets that introduce Japanese culture. The most popular cheese assortment includes Yamabudo cream cheese from Tsurumaki, Iwate Prefecture, making it a great deal. Enjoy high-quality items little by little, savoring seasonal flavors. This bar style is perfect for treating yourself well after work. The bartender, a Buddhist monk, is approachable for easy consultation. It's a valuable place to reflect on your day and spend a fun and considerate time.
