I visited the restaurant for lunch 5 minutes after it opened, and it was already almost full. The beef noodles were delicious and knocked me out! I have high expectations for the other dishes as well. In addition to the beef noodles, I also ordered the pork chop bento, egg pancake, and tofu pudding with all the toppings. The lu rou was also included, and it tasted really delicious. The pork chop was thicker than what I had in Taiwan, similar to Japanese tonkatsu. The coating was thin and crispy, like fried pork in Taiwan! The tofu pudding had a gentle soy milk flavor that was really delicious. The sweet potato mochi added a nice texture! The grass jelly had a nostalgic bitterness to it, making it feel like I had traveled to Taiwan. I would love to go back for dinner as well.

This is a Taiwanese restaurant in Marutamachi Kawaramachi. I had been avoiding it because I heard it was popular and I don't like waiting in line. However, I happened to have some business nearby and arrived just before opening time, only to find a few groups already in line. The restaurant is renovated from a traditional townhouse, with tables on the tatami floor, a single seat by the window, and various sizes of tables in the shoe-off seating area. I was lucky to be seated quickly in a single-seat tatami area. The lunch menu consists of rice dishes like Lu Rou Fan or noodles as the main, with a set of 3 side dishes (¥220) or toppings like boiled eggs available. I ordered the following items: Shrimp Rice (small) for ¥600, a set of 3 side dishes for ¥220, and Meatballs for ¥495. The food was delicious and the prices were reasonable, but the long wait for food delivery was a downside. I recommend going early to avoid the long lines, especially on weekends. Overall, I had a good experience and plan to visit again soon.

Based on a friend's recommendation, I visited this place! For lunch, you can choose from three sizes of rice portions: large, medium, and small. I wanted to have dessert, so I ordered the small size (about 150g for around 400 yen). If you're looking to fill up on rice, you might want to go for a larger size, but after dessert, I was completely stuffed. If you enjoy Taiwanese cuisine, be sure to check it out!

Visited around 13:00 for lunch. A Taiwanese restaurant with a homey atmosphere, and it seemed like there were many regular customers. The lunch set included Lu Rou Fan (minced pork rice) served in a cute teacup-sized bowl. The flavor was exotic with well-spiced meat. The side dishes were gently seasoned and served in small portions, creating a cozy feeling. I forgot to take photos, but the soup had a strong garlic flavor.

Local staff work here. You can feel at ease ordering in Japanese slowly, as it will be understood just fine. The place is quite popular. However... it may feel a bit intimidating to enter alone. I recommend ordering the "Reitokei" (Hot and Cold) shaved ice, which is often recommended in guidebooks. It's a new sensation where hot ingredients are placed under cold ice. It melts quickly, but the warm ingredients are deliciously balanced. It has a unique taste with a hint of flavor. You can enjoy the atmosphere of a foreign country, so please come visit.

The staff kindly recommended a different menu from last time, and all options looked delicious. Just like last time, when I chose a menu, they would suggest, "This one is delicious with the topping of ○○ soup!" without any sarcasm. The pidan was rich and authentic.

I have only been to Taiwan once, but you can enjoy authentic Taiwanese cuisine there. This time, I aimed for Lu Rou Fan, and it was a delicious meal that was not overly sweet or spicy. Even the medium portion was filling. The staff were kind and gave various recommendations. It was a relaxing and delicious experience.

The interior of the store is very Taiwanese-style and charming. I ordered fried rice with shrimp, pork, chicken, or mixed options at the same price. I chose shrimp, and it was a new experience. It's like shrimp fried rice, but different. However, it's really delicious! I couldn't stop eating (laughs). I have high expectations for other menu items, so I will definitely go back soon!

We visited with a 7-month-old baby. We arrived a little after 12 o'clock and there were people waiting in front of us. We ordered braised pork rice (topped with a fried egg), beef noodle soup, today's side dishes, meatballs, tofu pudding, and fried rice cakes. We were able to choose the size of the braised pork rice, so we ordered a small one and enjoyed other dishes as well. The double-sided fried egg was crispy and delicious. The noodles in the beef noodle soup were thick, similar to Okinawan soba noodles, and they paired well with the rich soup. The side dishes of the day reminded us of Taiwan with their delicious flavors. The toppings on the tofu pudding included taro balls with sesame inside, and the grass jelly had a unique herbal scent, both reminding us of Taiwan. The menu was extensive, offering dishes not commonly found in Japan. We also enjoyed hearing Chinese conversations at various tables and noticed that the takeout containers were paper boxes, all adding to the Taiwanese ambiance of the lovely restaurant.

I became interested in Taiwanese cuisine, so I decided to come to this restaurant where I had bought Lu Rou Fan to have lunch. I was interested in the "Guo Shao Yi Mien" dish. The restaurant was full inside, so there was a bit of a wait, but it was manageable. When the Yi Mien arrived, it didn't have a flashy appearance, rather quite plain. Except for the red shrimp on top, and the green onions and spinach, the rest of the dish looked plain. I dug into the noodles right away. Ah! It was not too different from what I had expected. The noodles were simmered, with a chewy and slightly dry texture. It felt like when you cook instant noodles for too long and they lose their flavor, but this was not the case. The noodles had absorbed the soup, making the flavor very good. The ingredients such as pork, shrimp, fish balls, spinach, fried shallots, and green onions were decent but nothing special, yet the overall balance was excellent. The soup, infused with the flavors of various ingredients, clung to the noodles, making it incredibly delicious! I had a really good meal. The bill came to 880 yen (including tax), and I understand that the price would be much lower in Taiwan, so I find this price reasonable. When will I be able to travel to Taiwan and enjoy Lu Rou Fan, Xiao Long Bao, and Beef Noodles again?

Arrived at the opening time. There were about 3 groups waiting, but we were able to enter the restaurant on the first round and were guided to a tatami seating area. The menu had pictures and basic descriptions, but I didn't know what the dishes were, so I ordered while searching online. For the rice bowl, I chose the medium size and added side dishes and soup as options. The Jirohan with plenty of chicken breast meat. Despite being chicken breast, it was moist without being dry, and the seasoning was not too strong, so it was delicious until the end. I like firm rice, so I thought the rice was a bit soft, but it was still delicious. The staff had just the right amount of distance. I want to try other menu items, so I will visit again.

This is a Taiwanese restaurant located near the Marutamachi Street intersection on Kawaramachi Street in Kyoto. The restaurant is unique in appearance, resembling a nostalgic and old-fashioned candy store. It is actually housed in a renovated traditional Kyoto townhouse. The interior is filled with Showa-era items, with table seating near the entrance and tatami seating in the back. The menu offers a variety of classic Taiwanese dishes and desserts, as well as Taiwanese beer. I particularly enjoyed the "Lu Rou Fan," a delicious dish of braised pork over rice. The "Zongzi Bing" and "Hong Dou Tang" desserts were also recommended by my companion. The food was flavorful and reminiscent of Taiwan. Be prepared for some lines as this popular restaurant can get crowded. I would love to visit again in the future. Thank you for the meal.

I have never been to Taiwan, but the atmosphere of this place gives me a nostalgic feeling. They offer options of large, medium, or small for dishes like braised pork rice and chicken rice, which is convenient. The food comes out quickly after ordering, which is also nice. Today I was hungry, so I ordered the braised pork rice (large) and it was more than I expected. Although I didn't add any toppings this time, you can also order extras like boiled eggs. I would like to try some side dishes next time.

I felt like eating foreign cuisine and went to a Taiwanese restaurant. The most delicious dish was the scallion pancake, crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside! Every bite was bursting with flavor. The egg crepe and radish cake were also recommended, both being chewy and delicious. The mango beer was sweet and easy to drink. It's a popular restaurant so there was always a wait for customers!

Kyoto, Jingumarutamachi, "Breeze Tainan". The other day, we talked about a Taiwanese restaurant. Continuing with the Taiwan series. This time, it's a Taiwanese restaurant in Kyoto. There is a Taiwanese restaurant near Keihan Jingumarutamachi Station that caught my attention. It's called "Breeze Tainan," which is an intriguing name. It's not a place where I usually pass by, so I didn't have the chance to visit it. On this day, I happened to have some business near Yasaka Shrine, so I decided to walk there. It seemed far, but it was actually close. I could walk there in less than 30 minutes. I arrived early. There were already people lined up. I joined the line. After a while, I entered the restaurant. It had a somewhat Taiwanese atmosphere. A calming space. I quickly looked at the menu. It was like a Taiwanese street stall. But I already knew what I wanted. Today, I wanted to try the Taiwanese curry rice. However, looking at the menu was also rewarding. I decided to have a Taiwanese beer. I also added some fried tofu. While enjoying the beer, the Taiwanese curry rice arrived. It had an interesting flavor. It was Taiwanese food. Among the curry taste, there was a hint of Chinese five-spice powder. The sweet and savory taste spread in my mouth, with a sticky texture. The pickles helped balance the flavors. The fried tofu was a great snack with the beer. I was able to fully enjoy Taiwan even here. Thank you for the meal. Restaurant Name: "Breeze Tainan" Genre: Taiwanese cuisine Address: 359 Masuyacho, Kamigyo-ku, Kyoto City Phone: 075-211-9817 Business Hours: 12:00-15:00, 18:00-22:00 Closed on Mondays Menu: Japanese Language: Japanese Thank you.

This was my second visit to this restaurant. I used to travel to Chiayi, Taiwan often for work, so I decided to order the chicken rice. I also ordered a tapioca fruit tea. The total came to 1320 yen. This restaurant serves food that is close to authentic Taiwanese street food, so there are no typical Chinese dishes like dumplings or shredded pork with green peppers that Japanese people might imagine. It is highly recommended for those who miss Taiwan. The atmosphere of the restaurant is like a retro diner and very enjoyable. The taste, while not quite reaching the level of the famous shops in Chiayi, was nostalgic. Adding tapioca tea can increase the cost a bit, but it's understandable. I would be happy if they had set menus available.

#Taiwanese food in Kyoto, reminiscing about the past#At "Breeze Tainan". Ordered popular Taiwanese dishes such as Lu Rou Fan, Tea Egg Chicken Rice, Danzai Noodles, and Mian Xian. The seasoning here has a Tainan flavor, sweeter than Taipei. Many locals (even those living in Taipei) say Tainan's food is tastier, which I can understand after experiencing both Tainan and Kaohsiung. The Lu Rou Fan had bamboo shoots, giving it a unique Tainan touch. The Danzai Noodles had a delicious broth, and the shrimp was photogenic. The Mian Xian had a strong bonito flavor, and the Chicken Rice brought back memories of Taiwan. It's been a while since I last visited, but I still love the authentic Tainan flavors here. Hopefully, after the pandemic, they'll offer more Taiwanese drinks besides beer, like Ka Va Lan. Looking forward to overcoming the pandemic and enjoying more delicious Taiwanese food in Kyoto! Thank you for the meal.

The atmosphere of the shop is like a retro house, and I personally like it. I wasn't familiar with the Taiwanese menu, so I asked the staff for recommendations. I ended up trying a menu where you can add noodles to the hot pot. The chicken soup flavor was very good and easy to eat, so I finished it quickly. The portion size wasn't too big, so you can easily finish it in one go. I had never tasted Taiwanese food before, but I enjoyed it.

You can enjoy authentic Taiwanese cuisine in Kyoto! It's authentic but probably tailored to Japanese taste, which is great! The "Lu Rou Fan" could be a bit stronger in flavor, like in Rokkaku, but it was still delicious. The "Shrimp Rice" had plenty of plump shrimp, and the shrimp flavor soaked into the rice, making it tasty! The dessert, similar to Taiwan's "zenzai," had sesame paste inside the mochi with a hint of cinnamon, which I really liked. Highly recommended!
