JR Kyoto Station, 7 minutes walk. Past Yodobashi Camera, turn left. No parking available. Our shop is a well-established Kyoto traditional Japanese sweets shop founded in 1945. Our specialty is the giant "Ohagi" weighing over 250g each. The exterior of the shop exudes a nostalgic charm, with a vintage look. Inside, there is minimal decoration, with only a few varieties of traditional Japanese sweets displayed in the showcase. I purchased one "Ohagi" for 350 yen tax included. Upon returning home, I opened it up and it was indeed a large size. Eating it alone would surely exceed the daily sugar intake, so I shared it with my family. The taste is homely, with a nice texture of red bean paste. It's a bit on the sweet side. It would make a perfect gift for someone, as they would surely be surprised and delighted.

This is a shop near Higashi Honganji Temple that sells very large ohagi. I bought two and they had a satisfying taste with a lot of sweetness, but not overwhelming. When I weighed them at home before eating, they were 240g. They are made with domestically grown rice, glutinous rice, red beans, sugar, malt syrup, kan-ten (sweet jelly), and salt.

Located on the north side of Kyoto Station, between Yodobashi Camera and Higashi-Honganji Temple, this shop is famous for its extra-large ohagi. The red bean grains are also large, and not only the size but also the taste is satisfying. My family prefers this place over the very famous store in Gojo.

During the equinoctial week, I got a takeout of ohagi. The coarse sweet red bean paste was softly cooked, and the sticky rice was easy to eat as it was soft. It had a nostalgic taste with a strong sweetness! Most of all, it was a big size. Check out the details on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/p/CjxRESbyqyi/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y.

Huge Ohagi!!! I've never seen such a voluminous ohagi before!!! It's the size of a fist!! But it's not too sweet, just the right amount of sweet red bean paste, so surprisingly easy to eat in one go!! The location is also close to the station. You can stop by to buy it before boarding the Shinkansen on your way back from Kyoto. However, it's located in a hidden spot near the station, so it might be fun to know about such a unique shop. The impact of the ohagi itself is also big, so I think it would make an interesting souvenir!

While strolling around the neighborhood, I came across a sign for "Matsuya Seika" on the southwest corner of Nijojokaramachi. I decided to stop by the shop, which is known as a supplier to Higashi Honganji Temple. Matsuya Seika is a long-established shop founded in 1945. I bought their "Ohagi," which was surprisingly large. It costs 330 yen per piece. The glutinous rice was a bit soft, but I liked the firmness of the sweet bean paste and the perfect balance of sweetness. The size of the ohagi is so big that you might not be able to finish it in one go. It's nicely packaged, so it could be a good gift option as well.

While strolling around, I came across a jumbo ohagi. It cost 330 yen each. After some thought, I decided to go into the shop and place an order. They made it fresh for me. When I opened it back at the inn, I was impressed by the generous portion. It was too much to eat in one go, so I divided it into a snack and a late-night treat. The sweet red bean paste was enhanced by what I believe was black sugar, adding depth to the flavor. The mochi had a satisfying texture with visible grains. It was a pleasant surprise find.

A well-known traditional Japanese sweets shop in Kyoto, Ohagi for 330 yen! It's a bit pricey, but the size is quite large and worth it. It's elegant and incredibly delicious! It's in my top 3 Ohagi shops nationwide! Thank you for the meal.
