Welcome.---------- October 2018 ----------There is a rest area with a shop at the end of the building on the premises of "Asahikawa Ramen Village" in Asahikawa. There are 6 or 7 noodle shops where you can recover your energy. The wallpaper is Instagrammable, and tourists are delighted by it. The shop sells Asahikawa souvenirs and sweets (soft serve ice cream). Even though the lady didn't notice me making any noise, when I said, "Please give me some soft serve," she jumped up from her chair. There are various toppings, but I think the safest choice is the Milk Pure flavor. It has a really milky richness and flavor, a smooth texture, and a refreshing aftertaste. Even without any toppings, I believe this flavor is the best. It's perfect for milk lovers.

It's Asahikawa. I came here for a specific reason, but it seems like I'm not really needed for about 30 minutes. I search for a place to go and come back within 30 minutes from my notes. I found "Milky House." When I arrived, it turned out to be Ramen Village. The red army is quite impressive. Do they belong to the Red Brigade? I don't want to get too close. On the far left, there was "Milky House." I asked for soft serve ice cream. The lady serving me had no smile on her face. It cost 350 yen, so it was not worth it. The lady, without much friendliness, quickly started making it. I placed a thousand yen bill on the counter. The lady held the finished product in her right hand, operated the cash register with her left hand, took the thousand yen bill, put it in, and gave me back 650 yen. It was a flawless performance. The ice cream was smooth but salty. It tasted like milk. It was just a regular soft serve, nothing special. So, I cannot justify the 350 yen price. I mean, coming all the way to Ramen Village just to eat this soft serve ice cream, well, that's just silly...

I came to Asahikawa City and it was a very hot day, perfect for ice cream. I didn't know there was an ice cream shop inside Asahikawa Ramen Village, even though I come here every year. Even though I wasn't hungry, I couldn't resist getting some ice cream. I found a souvenir shop called "Milky House" at the edge of the ramen village. I ordered the Haskap soft serve that was featured in the July issue of Jalan magazine. When I mentioned it, they gave me a 50 yen discount, but the price was still 450 yen. I checked the magazine again and it really did say 500 yen! The standard soft serve was 350 yen (still a bit pricey) and adding Haskap jam as a topping made it 500 yen. 150 yen just for the Haskap jam, what a rip-off. But apparently, this soft serve has won some awards and there aren't many places that serve it, so I was looking forward to it. Despite the small portion and narrow design, the soft serve was high quality and creamy, not too rich or overwhelming. It had a good balance of flavors. If you go for the standard soft serve, it's worth it. Honestly, it was delicious. The Haskap flavor was just like regular Haskap jam.

The dessert consists of two layers of choux pastry filled with ice cream, topped with chestnut cream, whipped cream, and two chestnuts. It looks like a Mont Blanc dessert. The ice cream is made by a company specializing in ice cream and is delicious because it is not too sweet. I was surprised when I found out that it was filled with ice cream inside. The dessert is solidly made with choux pastry, making it easy to hold and eat by hand. It is relatively large, which is nice.
