On Thursday at 12:30, I went to "Chisou Inaseya" in Karasuma Oike. The entrance is narrow, but as you go further back, you will find the entrance to the restaurant. There were 4 people waiting. We were seated 15 minutes later. I ordered the "Oyakodon set (1,200 yen)". It arrived in 6 minutes. The dish looked beautiful. I took a bite. It was delicious. I was expecting it to be lightly seasoned, but it had a strong dashi flavor, and the egg was just right. The tender texture of the Tanba Jidori chicken with a good bite made the flavor of the chicken stand out. According to the description, they use "Tanba Jidori chicken and fresh eggs to create a luxurious dish. Half of it is served as it is, and the other half is topped with their proud "Jidori chicken soup" that has been simmered for three days (with wasabi, seaweed, and rice crackers). Please enjoy it together." They use "Ayabe and Kawakita Farm's low-pesticide rice" for all their dishes. When it was about one-third left, I added wasabi, seaweed, and rice crackers, and poured the dashi over it to make a dashi tea rice. I took a bite. It was delicious. The dashi was a white chicken broth soup. The rich flavor of the soup made the dashi tea rice quite exquisite. I was surprised by the unexpected twist of using a white chicken broth soup for the dashi tea rice instead of the typical bonito and kelp dashi one would expect in Kyoto. Thank you for the meal.

Located between Karasuma Oike and Shijo Karasuma in Kyoto, I tried a reasonably priced Japanese restaurant, or maybe it's more of an izakaya. I ordered a variety of dishes such as local chicken sukiyaki, karaage, sashimi, salad, and more. I also had a couple of drinks, and the total cost was around 6,000 yen per person. Well, it's understandable since it's a tourist area. It seems like in Kyoto, it's tough to find affordable Japanese cuisine for under 30,000 yen in the city center. If you're looking for a more budget-friendly option in Kyoto's central area, it might be better to stick with a major chain restaurant.

When I called to make a reservation, they said they only offer a la carte menu for the day. I went alone and had a great time at the counter where the chef was friendly and engaging. He explained the dishes in detail. I ordered the Kyoto-style steamed wheat gluten, angel prawn tempura, and chicken and egg rice bowl. The steamed wheat gluten was very soft and had a rich bean flavor when eaten with salt. The angel prawn was so tender that you could eat the shell too, and there was nothing left at the end! The chef even warned me to be careful of the sharp parts when eating the head (laughs). It was crispy and juicy, and I definitely want to eat it again. Lastly, the chicken and egg rice bowl had just the right amount of firmness in the egg and tender chicken, and it was gone in no time. I heard they also serve lunch, so I definitely want to visit again for lunch.

I stayed at a hotel nearby and made a reservation at a traditional Japanese restaurant right behind it. Instead of opting for a set course, I decided to try various dishes a la carte. The most delicious dish was the seared rare duck tataki, which had a crispy surface and a rich flavor. The sashimi and yuba salad with tofu appetizer were also delicious. The rice dish at the end was generously portioned and perfectly cooked, leaving me feeling satisfied. I love Kyoto and visit it several times a year, so I would definitely like to dine at this restaurant again during my next trip.

On weekends, they offer course menus only, so I ordered the Torisuki course. Everything was delicious and satisfying! The sake was all Junmai, so it was easy to get drunk (lol). I could feel their commitment to quality, and I enjoyed their recommendations. The service was great too, so I would definitely want to visit again when in Kyoto.

I visited this restaurant for lunch on Friday, November 18, 2022. When I entered, I was asked if I had a reservation, which caught me off guard. It seems like this is not the kind of place you just casually drop in for lunch! Luckily, there was a free table available, so I was seated and checked the menu. I ordered the parent and child bowl set. When it was brought to me, I received an explanation. I ate half of it and was told to make it into a tea-flavored rice dish with chicken soup. The texture of the chicken was great! The slight firmness gave it a taste of local chicken, which was nice. I finished by eating it as a tea-flavored rice dish and left. It seems like I accidentally stumbled into the most formal restaurant in my recent lunch outings, but the food was simply delicious.

I was satisfied with every dish, the atmosphere was calm and nice, and above all, I thought it was great value for money. There are not many options on the a la carte menu, but you can't go wrong with any choice. If I can make a reservation, I would like to go again.

The actor who appeared on TV and is from Kyoto mentioned that his family runs a sake brewery, so I decided to visit a restaurant that I had been wanting to try for a long time. The restaurant mainly serves sukiyaki, but I wanted to buy croquettes and grilled meat cuts, so I chose a nearby restaurant instead. The restaurant was located deep inside a narrow alleyway, with a beautiful garden visible from the inside. The menu included daily set meals for 1500 yen, parent and child rice bowl set for 1200 yen, sukiyaki set for 3600 yen, sirloin steak set for 2800 yen, and an elegant set meal for 2500 yen. Unable to reach for sukiyaki, I decided to order the parent and child rice bowl set for 1200 yen. The dish arrived promptly, with a slightly pale parent and child rice bowl. I was instructed to put half of it into a tea cup, add chicken soup, rice cracker, and wasabi, and enjoy it that way. I wished there was shichimi to sprinkle on top, but there was none provided on the table. I later found out that there was sansho pepper hidden behind the parent and child rice bowl, under the set meal tray. I topped it with wasabi, rice cracker, poured the chicken soup, and enjoyed the dish. Overall, I had a leisurely lunch in a Kyoto-style restaurant with a charming garden.

I visited around 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. I waited for about 3 minutes before being seated. I ordered the daily special set meal for 1500 yen at Inaseya. The main dish was eel and egg over rice. I usually avoid eel because I don't like the small bones, but this eel was ideal as I couldn't feel the bones at all. The combination with the egg was excellent.

A few years ago, Sasaki Kuranosuke introduced the local chicken sukiyaki on TV and I've been wanting to try it ever since. Maybe this restaurant has a connection with Sasaki Shuzo? Even if that's the case, it must be a delicious restaurant! I usually only have breakfast here on weekends, but today I'll have lunch instead. The tables are spacious and the seating is comfortable. As expected from a restaurant recommended by a celebrity! Well, Sasaki Kuranosuke probably has a private room though... (laughs) "I'll have the daily set meal, please." The daily special is simmered chicken wings, but the color is so light, it feels like something you'd only find in Kyoto. Maybe they use white soy sauce or something? The broth is flavorful and the seasoning is just right. The rice is delicious, the miso soup is tasty, and the side dishes are mainly vegetables, perfect for women. Even at this time, the restaurant is almost full, and it's mostly women other than me. I understand why it's popular with women. There are so many restaurants I want to try in Kyoto, so I don't know when I'll be back, but the atmosphere of this restaurant is nice. Next time, I'll try the breakfast or the local chicken sukiyaki.

Kyoto one-night stay last dinner. Originally planned to go to a restaurant that was closed, so I found another one and made a last-minute reservation. It's a small restaurant where you can fully enjoy Kyoto's vegetables, local chicken, and sake. I was tired that day so I didn't order any alcohol, but I enjoyed delicious dishes. Fluffy dashimaki tamago, firm and satisfying salt-grilled local chicken, gentle fried tofu, and fluffy and creamy oyakodon, among others. I was able to get full for about 3000 yen, and the cost performance was good!

I visited the restaurant around 14:00 on Saturday. There were 3 groups and 2 individuals already there. The interior had a nice open feeling with a sense of the garden. It seemed like a cozy place to relax at night. The chairs were comfortable and the seat height was good. I had the daily special for 1300 yen, which was delicious fried chicken. It was a refined dish and the salad dressing was also good. Overall, it felt like a nutritious and well-balanced meal.

Parent and child bowl set for 1200 yen. The second half was eaten as dashi chazuke. It was delicious. Honestly, when it was served, I felt a little disappointed that it was a bit small. But by the time I finished eating, I was completely satisfied and had no regrets. When I took a bite, I thought it might be a little spicy, but the chewy chicken meat surprised me. I was expecting tender chicken meat, but this had a satisfying chewiness. I like tender chicken meat, but I also like chicken meat with a good texture like this. The menu said it was Tanba Jidori chicken, but I didn't pay much attention, so I was surprised. It was like twisted chicken. The fluffy egg on top with raw egg was luxurious. The red miso soup was also delicious. And then, the second half with dashi chazuke. It had a small round rice ball topped with wasabi and seaweed. The dashi was surprisingly cloudy. It felt like a white broth soup. The smell of chicken broth was strong. Even with plenty of wasabi, it wasn't too spicy and I could still taste the flavor, which I liked. I could still eat more, but thanks to the rich dashi, I felt satisfied. Next time, I'll try the tantanmen. Thank you for the meal.

Today's lunch was at "Hesosu Inaseya", a creative izakaya located between Imadegawa-dori and Sanjo on Yanaginobamba-dori. The entrance is narrow and leads to a long approach connecting to the building, with tiles on the ground, each inscribed with the names of streets in Kyoto. The traditional Kyoto townhouse has been renovated into a space with table seating on tatami mats. Their specialty seems to be sukiyaki. They also offer dishes like oyakodon and tantanmen. I decided to go with the "Hesosu Inaseya daily lunch set" for 1300 yen. The retro bell on the table caught my attention. The set meal that arrived was generous and luxurious. The salad was delicious with plenty of dressing, providing a nice acidity with shiso and chili peppers for an interesting combination. The winter melon had a good crunch, contrasting with the thick fried tofu. The simmered dish with greens, shiitake mushrooms, and fried tofu had a crispy texture from the thin fried tofu. The tempura included lotus root, pumpkin, and chicken, served piping hot, and the salt complemented the ingredients well. A small piece of watermelon jelly served as a palate cleanser. It's a popular izakaya chain, and the quality of the food certainly lives up to its reputation.

Arashi recommended this restaurant on TV, and I had it written down in my notes (lol). I was in Arashiyama and worried about the last order time, but we made it in time for dinner. The staff greeted us kindly from the entrance, and the food was delicious - the tataki, meat bowl, sukiyaki, and the complimentary edamame. My 8th grade daughter loved the tataki and wants to eat it again. I enjoyed the meat bowl and the complimentary dish. The road leading to the restaurant was also lovely. I don't go to Kyoto often, but I would like to visit this restaurant again.

I arrived in Kyoto at 6:00 and checked into the hotel before 7:00. As I pondered what to eat for dinner in Kyoto, time flew by quickly. I realized that most restaurants close at 9:00, with last orders at 8:00. I ended up going to the recommended restaurant at the hotel. The restaurant had a stylish design in a traditional townhouse. The head chef, wearing a tie, was seated at the counter. The dining area had tables with a view of a courtyard. The menu was unique, not quite an izakaya or a kaiseki restaurant. In Tokyo, this type of restaurant might be rare. There were several course options in addition to the daily recommendations. The meal started with a refreshing daikon radish appetizer. Next, I enjoyed seasonal firefly squid with beautiful garnishes like pickled cherry blossoms and rape blossoms. Then came the deep-fried flounder, elegantly presented in bite-sized pieces. It was clear that the head chef had trained in a kaiseki restaurant or traditional Japanese inn. I felt that the restaurant wanted guests to experience a proper course meal, but due to various factors, it ended up being a unique blend of kaiseki, izakaya, and casual dining. The selection of local sake and other drinks was impressive. Overall, it was a fascinating dining experience.

The restaurant recommended by Kuranosuke Sasaki on TV has a deep Kyoto-like entrance. The rooms are spacious with a view of the garden. There is a sense of elegance. I had the daily special which was tempura that day. Chicken, broccoli, lotus root, and eggplant were fried crispy and light. The seasoning of the side dishes was just right. They were all delicious with refined flavors. My friend had the oyakodon set. It looked delicious with 3 eggs used and was very creamy. You can also pour the broth halfway through and turn it into ochazuke. The rice cracker topping gives it a Kyoto-like touch. Overall, the flavors were good and gentle. We had a delicious meal.

I went to "Hashigo Inaseya" for lunch on March 7th. I found this restaurant by chance while walking. It seemed a bit upscale and intimidating, but I decided to give it a try. The pathway to the entrance had unique tiles, adding to the charm. When I opened the sliding door, I was greeted by a pleasant female voice, making me feel like I was at a traditional inn. I was seated at the counter and ordered the daily special for 1200 yen, which included my favorite fried chicken with pickled onions and leeks as the main dish. There were also several side dishes and even a chawanmushi included. The chawanmushi had kamaboko, ginkgo nuts, and clams in it. For dessert, I had almond jelly which was the best I've ever had. They also offer breakfast and dinner courses, which I am curious to try. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

Walking through a unique stone-paved alley with the name of a Kyoto street written on it, you enter a well-built building with impressive beams. The calm atmosphere of this place is truly lovely ♡ From the counter seats, you can see a wide variety of alcohol, the chef cooking, a small shrine, and a cedar ball, making it enjoyable to leisurely watch while dining. - Daily Special Set Meal 1320 yen (tax included) The vegetable-rich daily special set meal of the day consists of fried chicken, white rice, miso soup, apple compote, simmered hijiki seaweed, mizuna salad, simmered taro, carrots, and daikon in dashi broth, chawanmushi (with ginkgo nuts and clams), simmered enoki and komatsuna. The hijiki seaweed was on the sweeter side! Overall, the flavors were subtly sweet. The meal was enjoyable with its abundant vegetables and light taste.

During my trip to Kyoto, a friend who loves Kyoto recommended this place to me. The restaurant is tucked away in a traditional Kyoto-style building with a spacious wooden interior and several tables. I made a reservation and went with my former boss whom I work with in Kyoto. We had the recommended tantanmen for lunch, along with a lunch beer. I heard that their breakfast is famous too, so I would like to try it next time.
