I got some pastries to go from "eight" in Fushimi Ward, Kyoto. I'm not showing pictures of the croissant and pain au chocolat. The croissant was delicious, with a crispy and chewy texture. It was my favorite flavor. The croque-monsieur is a summer limited edition with a good balance of asparagus, egg, and anchovy, and it's delicious! It's located near Keihan Fushimi Inari Station, so it's easier to get to than the old location.

"Eight," a renowned bakery in Kyoto's Fujimori, has relocated to Fushimi Inari Station around February 2023. The lineup of bread remains the same, ranging from traditional to unique options. The bakery exudes a sense of dedication and passion. During a visit on a weekday evening, the variety of bread was still plentiful, catering to a diverse clientele. I purchased the recommended summer limited edition "Lemon Peel & Cream Cheese" bread, which was dense and satisfying. The bread had a firm exterior but a soft interior, with a generous filling of cream cheese and a refreshing lemon peel accent. The balance of moistness, tanginess, and sweetness was delightful. The bakery has improved in terms of accessibility, ambiance, and service. Although the prices are on the higher side, the quality justifies it. "Eight" is truly a top-notch bakery and worth a visit when in Kyoto. (Foodlog rating: 3.22 at the time of visit) *Note: No photography allowed inside the store.

I visit Kyoto once a month and the bread shops there are amazing! Every time I try different bread shops, but this one is the best. I will definitely stop by every time from now on. All of the bread looked delicious, but I was particularly impressed by the beauty of the hard bread. I bought Viennese chocolate raspberry baguette, lemon peel and cream cheese fruit, and two other items. They were all incredibly delicious.

I went to the Kyocera Museum of Art's Louvre Art Exhibition at 11:30 am on a regular weekday. It was summer vacation, so I thought it would be less crowded. First, I bought some bread. Since it was not busy, I was able to take some photos inside the store. The bread was neatly arranged on wooden racks, giving a sense of care and importance. From sweet pastries to savory bread, each one had a firm texture and tasted delicious.

Located just a minute's walk from Fushimi Inari Station, this bakery used to be in Fujimori Station but seems to have relocated at some point. I visited the store as I had some errands nearby. Unlike the previous location, here you tell them what you want to eat and they serve it to you. An Pan (270 yen), Cream Pan (260 yen), Basil and Bacon (280 yen), Blueberry and Cream Cheese (280 yen). The An Pan is made with rye dough, filled with mildly sweet red bean paste and four-leaf butter. The Cream Pan has custard with Kirsch Wasser and vanilla beans, which was my favorite with its rich and deep flavor. The Blueberry and Cream Cheese, with rye dough, is a delicious combination. Personally, I loved the Basil and Bacon. It was packed with bacon and had a great herb flavor, making it a high-quality item. This bakery is full of charm and I would love to visit again if I have the chance.

Located near Fushimi Inari Station in Fukakusa Ichi-no-Tsubocho, this bakery is known for its delicious hard breads that you can enjoy every day without getting tired of them. They offer a variety of breads including savory breads, pastries, and sandwiches made with high-hydration dough. Originally opened near Fujimori Station in March 2011, they relocated to their current location in January 2023. Their concept is "From everyday to special days, eight". The bakery is just 30 seconds from Fushimi Inari Station. When you exit the ticket gate, head left towards Uji, then go back along the railway tracks. It's a stylish two-story building with a glass front on the first floor. I visited in the morning. The bright and clean interior space is welcoming, and the selection of bread in the display case is attractive. All the breads are baked with a strong crust and look delicious. They offer croissants, popular anpan, savory breads, quiche, croque-monsieur, baguettes, pain de huit, and sandwich in the refrigerated case. Due to its location, they also attract customers from overseas. They seemed to be buying for lunch. The service is polite and pleasant. I purchased the following items (prices include tax). ● Pain de Huit (half, 320 yen) - Approximately 13.2cm in length, 14.5cm in width, and 6.5cm in height. This high-hydration bread has a crispy and fragrant crust, and the tangy dough is chewy. It tastes great on its own and pairs well with ham or cheese. When lightly toasted, it has a crispy and chewy texture. ● Calzone (340 yen) - Approximately 17cm in length, 8.5cm in width, and 3cm in height. This crescent-shaped bread is made with basil baguette dough and filled with dried tomatoes, black olives, and Gruyère cheese. When lightly toasted, the baguette dough becomes crispy, the dried tomatoes are juicy, the basil is fragrant, and the saltiness of the black olives and cheese adds a nice touch. It goes well with wine or beer. ● Apple & Walnut & Cinnamon (280 yen) - Approximately 8.7cm in length, 9.8cm in width, and 4cm in height. This bread made with high-hydration dough mixed with cinnamon, and filled with apples and walnuts. The strongly baked crust is slightly bitter, and the cinnamon aroma and chewy texture are delightful. The sweet and sour apples and fragrant walnuts add flavor and texture. My favorite was the Pain de Huit. It goes well with anything and is a bread that you won't get tired of. Since they have a variety of breads that I like, I plan to make another visit soon.

After finishing my night shift, I got off at Keihan Fushimi Inari Station from Keihan Kyobashi Station. I had been to this station before, but I didn't know about this place back then. It used to be a 2022 Pan WEST top 100 store, but it seems like they have relocated here. Probably the same chefs, but it won't be a top 100 store anymore (the quality has dropped to the low 3.2s). I decided to go in and saw a nice display. I asked for a recommendation and went with the an pan for 270 yen, paid with a card. I planned to just take a bite, but since I hadn't eaten anything since morning, I finished it while waiting for the train. The red bean paste was sweet and delicious, but the bread was hard to eat, like French bread. It shows that I have been to 92 Pan WEST stores, but the medal count shows 91. Completing them all seems impossible. I'll go to the next one.

The bakery that moved before has become a popular shop. At first glance, it didn't look like a bakery, but once you see the bread displayed in the showcase, you realize it is a bakery. Lemon peel & cream cheese for 250 yen: The surface has lemon peel, but underneath is cream cheese, giving a sweet and sour taste. Mugwort & Adzuki bean for 230 yen: It is a hard bread, but the adzuki bean filling is rich and satisfying, and very delicious.

I wanted to go there, but the shop was gone... I was happy to find it at Fushimi Inari! There are various unique deli breads to choose from. There are many hard breads, and I couldn't resist buying a baguette, so the next day I made a delicious cream stew to enjoy.

Actually, Kyoto Prefecture has the highest bread consumption per household at 61,545g. That's why Kyoto has a lot of delicious bakeries. This shop recently relocated, but everything from the exterior to the display, the appearance and taste of the bread was perfect. Usually, shops like this offer smaller portions, but this shop's bread is packed with ingredients to the point where you wonder if they're selling it so cheaply. Once word gets out about the shop's relocation, it might become difficult to buy their bread due to its high quality. I'm glad I stopped by! ✨

Visited the popular bakery "eight" near Fushimi Inari. It used to be a well-known store in Fujimori with a regular customer base of 100 people. Recently relocated and opened. - Apricot & Cream Cheese (¥260): There are various color variations of this bread, so it's probably a standard product. It's filled with plenty of cheese. - Tonkatsu Roll (¥340): A distinctive bread with pork cutlet inside. The bread itself is delicious, but the soft pork cutlet is too good. It goes well with the bread. It's like a superior version of Bacon Epi. - Salmon Quiche (¥390): Whenever I go to a bakery, I end up buying quiche. I always think, "The bread is tastier," but I end up buying it. It was delicious. The store is clean and has a nice atmosphere, and there were many other breads that caught my eye. I would like to visit again.

Located right next to Fushimi Station famous for Fushimi Inari, this shop is stylish and it's hard to tell what kind of shop it is at first glance. It is a popular shop, but the score has dropped due to relocation. The bread lined up in the showcase all looks delicious and has a nice aroma. The system is to tell the staff and have them get it for you. Fruit (1/2) ¥530, Dry fruits mixed with nuts and baked thoroughly x2. One of the specialties of Eight. Fig Noir ¥320, Figs cooked slowly with spices and red wine, wrapped in rye dough with walnuts and baked. Viennois Chocolate Raspberry ¥350, Brioche dough filled with chocolate cream like terrine and raspberries. Beef tendon curry bread ¥280, A slightly spicy and rich homemade curry wrapped and baked with beef tendons. It is a baked curry bread that is not fried.

I visited the bakery for the first time after they relocated - I couldn't take photos before, but this time I could! They used to have pâté in the refrigerated section which I always bought, but it wasn't available this time. The other breads were neatly displayed and looked really beautiful! The staff were working diligently like artisans as usual. I bought croissants, baguettes, croissants with custard cream, quiche, chocolate bread, bacon and basil bread, and some others whose names I don't know. Bread really needs to be eaten on the same day to truly appreciate its deliciousness! The croissants were delicious with a rich buttery flavor!

✔️ Opens early in the morning ✔️ Overall, reasonably priced Previously located near Fujimori Station, but moved and reopened near Fushimi Inari Station in 23, making it more accessible. The shop is made of glass and mainly offers hard bread, with a stylish presentation. All items are around 300 yen, with a good amount of ingredients and size for the price. - Apricot and Cream Cheese: A French bread that is just the right amount of firm, filled with plenty of cheese and apricot. It goes well with alcohol. A bit messy to eat because it's sticky, but delicious.

I visited the place because quiche was said to be delicious. The bacon tart flambe had bacon, onions, and cheese on top, which seemed to be from the Alsace region. You choose your purchase from the showcase and tell the staff. There was a second floor, but dining in was not allowed (store relocation).

A bakery right by Fushimi Inari Station in Kyoto! I was happy that they could hold items for me. I loved the bread here! They have many unique combinations. Their sandwiches and quiches are amazing! The sausage and stewed pork dishes are delicious, and the Viennese chocolate was fun to eat. I bought a lot, but I regret not buying more! I want to go back and buy more when I visit Kyoto again.

A bakery located right near Fushimi Inari, which seems to have recently moved. The exterior and interior are stylish and chic. Many popular bakeries don't allow reservations, but this one does. And they are very friendly. Most of their bread is in the 300 yen range. I bought a variety of items and they were all delicious, but my favorite was the bread with mashed boiled eggs and plenty of anchovies. It was a sophisticated bread that would go well with alcohol.

I went for the first time since it moved from Fujimori, it's right near Keihan Fushimi Inari Station! There are many hard-type breads with a variety of choices, so I had a hard time deciding, but I bought the An Panier because I often saw it on Instagram, and I bought others that caught my eye. The pizza and quiche side dishes also looked delicious, so I plan to go back and buy them again.

I love this bakery so much! Since moving from Fujimori, it has become even more stylish and you wouldn't even know it's a bakery - it's that trendy. The bread is delicious no matter how many times I eat it. I usually have one for lunch and save the rest for the evening. It's perfect for snacking with some drinks at night. The hard bread is really tasty, and the toppings or fillings complement the bread perfectly. Now that it's closer, I might end up buying a lot!

I used to love this store in the old location. It was my first time visiting the new store, but the croissants, sandwiches, and quiches were all burnt and bitter. They were way too crispy. You can't choose the level of baking yourself since they are displayed in a showcase, and it's disappointing considering the high prices. Maybe they switched to this system for COVID-19 measures, but it doesn't feel like a bakery anymore and it's not very inviting to go there.
