I was taken to the izakaya "Taikobo" in Miyazu City, Kyoto Prefecture by a local. It has been around for about 10 years. The 3,500 yen set includes fresh local sashimi such as sea bream, mackerel, horse mackerel, and saury. The sea bream head soup is delicious, and the steamed and grilled beef is also excellent. In addition, the local Iwagaki oysters are huge and half of them can be eaten as they are with a rich and salty flavor. They also offer Yura white ale and Dassai sake. I spent a satisfying 3 hours there with a full stomach. I recommend the local sweet pickled hollyhock, which is crispy and goes well with sake.

From Moriyama to Minoh, then exploring around the hotel in Miyazu, I nervously entered a sushi-like restaurant with a counter and tatami seating. The menu had Tanba cockles for 1,100 yen, which seemed cheap, right? I saw another place offering them for 8,000 yen and knew I couldn't afford it, so I decided to try it here. Even though the size was small, the cockles were delicious! And the liver was also tasty! The fried horse mackerel for 330 yen was also reasonably priced. Eating it with ketchup and sauce, is this the local way? It's quite enjoyable!
