I have started a gourmet website for Mitomi Emon. Homepage "https://blog.33inc.jp/" Instagram "@mitomi_emon" What part of tuna do you like? Most likely, many of you prefer medium fatty tuna or fatty tuna, right? However, if you have lunch at "Jige," a charcoal-grilled restaurant in Tsukiji, a new faction may emerge. The specialty of this 30-year-old charcoal-grilled restaurant is none other than the tuna "collar." This is the part that connects the head and body of the fish. The popular menu is a set of grilled collar and sashimi. If you opt for the special menu, you can enjoy this with bluefin tuna. First of all, you will be amazed by its size. It appears as large as a steak. And there are two of them. Not only the size, but the smoky flavor from charcoal grilling, the vivid use of salt that perfectly matches with lunch, it's just irresistible. The perfect amount of fat, with white rice and grated radish being essential items. You can easily eat three bowls of rice with just the collar. And it even comes with a side of medium fatty tuna. By the way, Mitomi Emon, a new graduate, used to work at an advertising agency nearby. He lined up for this collar grill with determination. It was almost 15 years ago, but nothing has changed, which is delightful. Mitomi Emon, who went for seconds, hasn't changed a bit either. Thank you for the meal!

I came back after 2 years and found that the lunch prices have increased by ¥200. However, the taste is still worth it. When I arrived around 11:40, I was seated at a table right away, but some customers were directed downstairs due to the restaurant being full. The popularity hasn't changed. It seems they no longer offer the limited tuna collar. I don't eat it much anyway, so I ordered a sashimi set. It was exciting to watch the grilling station after such a long time. In less than 10 minutes, my order arrived. The presentation was as luxurious as ever. The collar was quite substantial, it might be too much for a woman. The sashimi was delicious as always. Truly, it's the taste of Tsukiji. I'm not the only one who feels happy when the fish is delicious.

I visited the popular restaurant Jige-san, expecting it to be less crowded due to many companies still being on summer break. I arrived at 11:30 and was lucky to get the limited quantity medium-fatty tuna set. However, I was a bit unlucky as the price had increased by about ¥400 compared to my previous visit. But in these times, it's understandable. After waiting for about 5 minutes, the medium-fatty tuna set was served, and it met my expectations. The richness of the tuna belly was excellent, and the flavor of the medium-fatty tuna was condensed and satisfying. It was a lunch that left me very satisfied. This is a restaurant that I will definitely visit regularly.

The highlight of this place is definitely the tuna chu-toro. Half of it is served as sashimi, while the other half is used for various dishes like rolls and bowls. Everything else we tried was delicious too! I'm already thinking about coming back for lunch.

On a hot day, I went to this restaurant to have a good meal. When I arrived after 1 o'clock, the only lunch option left was the "Grilled Tuna Collar (small) and Sashimi Set" for ¥1,200, but that was perfectly fine. Even though I asked for half the rice, the portion of the grilled tuna collar was surprisingly large. The sashimi was delicious as well, and all of this for ¥1,200 is just too good to be true! 😄

After a long time, I went to Jige. We drank and ate a lot, but I didn't take many photos. The specialty dish, "Nakaochi" eaten with seashells, was enjoyable and delicious. It's a fun and tasty restaurant. Perfect for having a lively drinking party with friends. Highly recommended.

This is a restaurant where the fish is fatty and very delicious. The white rice is cooked perfectly and it is a very tasty and cost-effective place. It can get crowded because it's popular, and once lunch is sold out, it's over. I've missed out on lunch a few times, but even considering that, I think it's a top-notch restaurant that I want to visit again and again.

I used this place for lunch on a regular day. I was alone, but the first floor was full, so I was seated at the counter seat downstairs. The sashimi was very delicious! There was too much tuna collar, so I got tired of it halfway through, but it was a very satisfying lunch.

The seats around me were full of salarymen. It seems like a popular place. There are three more shops lined up on this street, so I searched and decided to try this one. The chicken was delicious, with crispy skin. There wasn't much meat on the tuna collar, but the grated daikon radish that came with it was quite generous. The simmered daikon and carrot dish could have used more flavor, maybe pickles would have been a good addition. Maybe some pickled plums too. The lunch menu has four options, all priced at 1200 yen. Thank you for the meal.

Hidden gem in the back alleys of Tsukiji. I never knew grilled tuna collar could be this delicious! Served with plenty of grated daikon radish and a sprinkle of shichimi togarashi, it's the best. The sashimi is also amazing, and all this for just 1200 yen makes it the top lunch spot in Tsukiji. Nearby office workers must be jealous!

The restaurant is located across from Tsukiji Market, near Kyobashi Tsukiji Elementary School, on a narrow alley. This street has many Japanese restaurants, offering higher quality food at lower prices compared to the eateries near the market. Especially during lunchtime, many people line up for limited menu items that sell out quickly after opening. One of the popular choices is the "Grilled Tuna Collar" lunch, sourced fresh from Tsukiji Market every morning. Although there are four basic lunch options available, the "Grilled Tuna Collar (Large)" is a rare limited menu item that sells out quickly after opening. To secure your order, it's recommended to arrive early. By 12:45, even the "Salmon Grilled and Sashimi Set" was sold out, leaving only two options. I ordered the "Grilled Tuna Collar (Medium) and Sashimi Set" for 1200 yen. As I was dining alone, I was seated at the counter in front of the grill where the collar was prepared. The lunch set included two large pieces of grilled tuna collar, sashimi of three types of tuna, sea bream, yellowtail, and salmon, along with a generous portion of rice and hot miso soup. The rice and miso soup served at Tsukiji's famous lunch spots are truly delicious! The ample portion of tuna collar and sashimi made me finish my meal quickly, and I couldn't resist asking for a refill of rice. I used the leftover sashimi to create a seafood bowl for my second serving. Personally, I recommend the "Grilled Tuna Collar (Medium)" for its satisfying portion size. The lunch at this hidden gem in the back alleys of Tsukiji is truly exceptional!

Bluefin tuna collar grilled and bluefin tuna belly set
When the tuna collar, resembling a tomahawk, was served, I was worried if I could finish it all. But that worry disappeared as soon as I took a bite.
The collar, grilled over charcoal, easily falls apart on the tongue, releasing a sweet fat that moistens the tongue and throat.
The charcoal's fragrant aroma and sweet sauce enhance the tuna's sweetness.
Unable to resist, I scoop up some rice, and each grain is coated with fat, deepening the rich sweetness, making me smile in delight.
I have made up my mind to definitely try the collar (large) next time.
Tsukiji's Charcoal Grill Jige-san is a restaurant that I had to give up on last time due to the long line. This time, I arrived at 11:15 and was the first in line. By the time the restaurant opened, there were about 20 people in line, and they took our orders. The lunch sets are all 1200 yen each: 1) Tuna collar (large) charcoal-grilled set (limited to 5 servings) 2) Tuna collar charcoal-grilled and sashimi (most popular menu) 3) Salmon charcoal-grilled and sashimi 4) Oyama chicken charcoal-grilled and tuna collar (small) There is also a special menu of grilled tuna collar and tuna belly sashimi for 1600 yen. Last time, I ordered the popular menu item, the tuna collar charcoal-grilled and sashimi, so this time I chose the limited 5 servings of the tuna collar (large) charcoal-grilled set for 1200 yen. The miso soup came with seaweed, green onions, and wheat gluten as side dishes. In about 5 minutes, the tuna collar (large) charcoal-grilled set was served. The lady sitting next to me had ordered the tuna collar charcoal-grilled and sashimi, so I got to see her tuna collar, which was indeed very large. The miso soup had seaweed, green onions, and wheat gluten in it. I dug out and shaved the meat around the collar bone and enjoyed the meal. The sweet and savory seasoning made the rice go down smoothly. You can have seconds of rice, but just the tuna meat alone is filling enough. The large tuna collar is limited to 5 servings, so I recommend arriving 15 minutes before opening if you want to have it. Once the limited servings are gone, most customers order the tuna collar charcoal-grilled and sashimi set, which is still a very satisfying meal. It was a delicious meal.

I visited for lunch on a regular day. This was my third time having lunch here. The menu I ordered was the Ooyama chicken bowl with a small tuna collar. Around 11:45, the restaurant started to get busier, and by 12 o'clock, it was almost full. The atmosphere inside was calm and of high quality. I didn't have any complaints. I placed my order and it arrived in about 5 minutes. The tuna collar was delicious and the sauce complemented it well. When I have just the collar for lunch, I tend to get tired of it, but with this set, I actually found myself feeling like there wasn't enough collar. It's a tough call.

I thought the atmosphere at night would be intimidating, so I usually went during the day, but for a farewell party, I decided to go to Jige-san at night. The food was delicious as always! There were also guests from overseas enjoying their meal. They were surprised by the quality of the tuna they served.

I used this restaurant for a friend's birthday. It was located underground, and at first I mistakenly went to the first floor where it was smoky. Full of anticipation, I went downstairs and found that the charm of this place is being able to shave the middle cut yourself. I diligently shaved the middle cut with the shells of the clams served to us, and it was really delicious. After that, I couldn't finish all the middle cuts, so I had them made into thin rolls. The meal also came with rice balls for the finishing touch, so I was really full. Maybe I should have just had it as a rice bowl. I really wanted to have them make a broth with tuna bones, but I'll save that for next time. It has the atmosphere of an izakaya, but the attention to detail in the dishes sets it apart as a unique and valuable izakaya.

Located in Tsukiji, "Bincho Charcoal Grill Jige"
Ordered the set of Oyama chicken charcoal grill and tuna collar (small) for ¥1,200! All menu items are priced at ¥1,200 each! The Oyama chicken charcoal grill bowl was crispy and tender! The portion of meat and rice was quite generous and satisfying. There are seats on the first floor and basement, and the restaurant is very spacious! It was quite crowded, so I thought I would have to wait, but the speed of service was faster than expected, which was appreciated!

I miraculously managed to secure a reservation on the same day and went to the restaurant. There were delicious fish varieties that are not commonly seen elsewhere. I tried grilled shabu-shabu of stonefish for the first time. The quality of the fat was good, so lightly grilling it made the fat melt slightly, becoming sweet, and enjoying a chewy texture. The classic whitefish with ponzu sauce was rich yet refreshing, and it was my personal favorite whitefish with ponzu sauce. The sea urchin and scallop gratin was exquisite. I think this is a must-try dish. Since there were only two of us, we had to give up on the famous tuna belly, so next time I would like to come with three or more people. It might be nice to come with about four people so you can try a variety of dishes in smaller portions. I will definitely come back.

Lunch meeting at Tsukiji. A hidden alley overlooking Tsukiji Honganji Temple to the east. A restaurant known for its charcoal grilling. Even after 1:00 pm on a weekday, there was a line, but we joined without hesitation. The highlight was the grilled tuna collar. We placed our order in advance and soon after we were seated, it was served. The tuna collar was like the T-bone steak of the sea. First, we were impressed by its size, then we were amazed by its deliciousness. It was definitely worth the wait.

A charcoal grill restaurant in Tsukiji known for its grilled tuna collar. I ordered the grilled tuna collar and sashimi set for 1200 yen. The tuna collar was a large piece with a meaty texture, grilled perfectly with a sweet sauce that was addicting. The set also came with sashimi and miso soup, making it a reasonably priced option.
