及第クレーマー
On January 15th, Reiwa 5 (Sunday), I visited Fukuchiyama for the first time in 7 months. My purpose was to feel the spirit of Fukuchiyama Castle, or rather, the soul of Akechi Mitsuhide. When I look at the tower and stone walls that are said to contain the spirit of Akechi, I suddenly awaken and feel refreshed, realizing the public and private order of Akechi that has been distorted in the world. A loyal and excellent salaryman who faithfully follows the insane orders of Nobunaga, Akechi! He was like a branch manager in today's terms, possessing rich culture and being a skilled gunner. Initially the number one retainer of the Oda clan, unlike the womanizing Hideyoshi, he was an unusually principled man who disliked concubines. However, at some point he was surpassed by Hideyoshi and in his haste, he declared at a linked verse meeting, "Now is the time, the rain falls in May!" Time refers to Akechi's origins in the "Toki" clan, and the rain is a play on "Ten" (heaven), right? And so he strategically headed to Honnoji, was it truly an unstoppable instinct of his? With these thoughts swirling in my mind, I walked around Fukuchiyama Castle town for about an hour. And what I found was a shop called "Washin" that perfectly fit the words my heart was seeking! Of course, both my wife and I eagerly entered the shop! Our order consisted of: Oden (Daikon) - 120 yen, Tempura (Burdock) - 120 yen, Thick Fried Tofu - 120 yen, Konjac - 120 yen, Tempura Assortment - 990 yen, Zaru Udon - 580 yen, Kamameshi Udon - 580 yen, Draft Beer - 590 yen, Imo Shochu with Hot Water - 460 yen x 2. The standout dish of the day was the Zaru Udon! When my wife ordered it, I wondered why she didn't choose the hot udon, but when it was served and I tried to pick up the udon with my chopsticks, it bounced like a rubber ball and was hard to grasp. The smooth noodles danced with a firm texture! It was the first time in my life that I thought cold zaru udon was delicious. So we also ordered the warm Kamameshi Udon! This was also delicious, but it was no match for the zaru udon! We also ordered the Tempura Assortment, but we didn't realize it contained quail tempura until it was served. Both my wife and I, regretfully, left it uneaten. Perhaps a tempura assortment without quail tempura would have been better? The oden, being an udon shop, had a delicious broth that paired well with the full cup of shochu with hot water. This review may differ from the reviewer's evaluation on this site, but please forgive me in light of Akechi's words, "Now is the time." Thank you for the meal.
