This is a restaurant run by a couple. They use seasonal ingredients. They serve freshly fried crispy tempura (2 shrimp, shiitake mushroom, sweet potato, 2 shishito peppers, goby fish), fried eggplant in broth, red miso soup, rice, and pickles. You can watch the cooking process right in front of you. The dishes are very elegant.

I was invited by a friend to visit this restaurant for the first time, and throughout our visit, we were the only customers. I couldn't help but wonder if the business is doing okay. However, the chef and the hostess were both friendly and easy to talk to, creating a very pleasant atmosphere.
[Food] There was nothing particularly surprising, just average.
[Price] I'm not sure about the prices since I was invited.
[Service] We sat at the counter to eat, so there wasn't any specific service, but the chef was friendly and engaged in conversation, making it a relaxing experience.
[Speed] The atmosphere was not rushed, and they served the dishes at a reasonable pace.

Sagami Oomachi is run by a husband and wife team. They have traditional tatami seating as well as a counter. During the ayu season, the husband catches fresh ayu, so it's always delicious. In addition to ayu, they offer a variety of dishes including sashimi, side dishes, fried foods, and simmered dishes. The grilled ayu comes in sizes of 2-3 fish each time, and when they are small, you can eat them whole. Other delicious dishes include fried eggplant, menchi-katsu, and potato salad. I always want to visit this restaurant during the ayu season.

The atmosphere is nice. It's a bit hard to find as it's slightly off the main street (along the river) in front of the university. I had an obanzai lunch. The candied sweet potato was easy to eat and delicious. The yuba roll was exquisite and the simmered pork was also delicious. It doesn't have a luxurious feel, but it has a comforting atmosphere of obanzai. It's perfect for saying you've come to Kyoto. I sat in a tatami room and was able to relax. The conversation flowed well, as the staff seemed to have experience in Nagoya. Not many tourists come here, so it's a hidden gem and a favorite spot.

On February 23, 2017 (Thursday), after visiting the power spot of Enmusubi at Kurumaori Shrine, I had lunch at Nono's place with two other people. We arrived around noon at this Japanese restaurant without a reservation. We had tempura lunch, and the restaurant was small but had a counter seat where we could see the chefs cooking in front of us. The tempura was freshly fried and delicious. I recommend the tempura lunch set (assorted tempura, side dish, rice, miso soup). It was a delightful meal. Thank you.
