I stopped by a souvenir shop while sightseeing in Amanohashidate. Wow! The quality of the souvenirs is high, and the dried fish seems to be homemade. The food is also delicious and affordable! It's recommended to bring in fresh ingredients sold at the shop, order just plain rice, and create your own original rice bowl to enjoy! It's rare to find such fresh seafood in Kyoto!

This is a seafood restaurant along the Aso Sea near Amanohashidate. We decided to stop by here, as it is about a 30-minute leisurely bike ride from Amanohashidate Station where we rented bicycles to enjoy the scenery. The seafood bowl seemed to be popular, but there was a wait of about 5 people for it. Since we drove to Amanohashidate, we decided to pass the time with a non-alcoholic beer. The table was a bit dirty. After a 25-minute wait, we were called. Oh! It was much more impressive than I had thought. The simmered fish in the front is simmered red sea bream. I'm not familiar with red sea bream, but it seems to be commonly caught in western Japan. It was slightly dry but thick, tender, plump, with a delicate sweet taste. Red sea bream is red sea bream, indeed. It's great to be able to have this for 2000 yen. Now, the seafood bowl. The salmon roe was slightly larger and had a refreshing freshness. The squid was firm and fresh. The sea bream in the seafood bowl was thick and fresh. The sweet shrimp had a rich sweetness, which was good. The tuna was average. The miso soup had a large sardine fish cake. These dishes would probably cost over 3000 yen in Tokyo, but we were able to enjoy them reasonably and deliciously. Although we missed the main restaurant we were aiming for due to it being past the last order, we ended up very satisfied. Thank you for the meal!

I went around the Tango Peninsula and stopped by to buy souvenirs. There were plenty of parking spaces in front of the shops. There were various kinds of souvenirs, from popular sweets to seafood. Among them, I found candy from Ine's boat houses for the first time. The candy was shaped like Kintaro candy, with various scenes of Tango. It even had a ribbon of Tango chirimen attached, making it a cute candy that even adults would find charming. The taste was simply delicious, with a soda flavor.

Near Amanohashidate, there is a fresh fish and souvenir shop. I was impressed by the fresh sashimi and visited two days in a row on my way there and back!
- Horse mackerel sashimi: 750 yen
Freshly prepared horse mackerel at this price! It was fresh and had a nice texture. Quite satisfying to eat.
- Sea cucumber with grated radish: 500 yen
Kyoto-produced sea cucumber seasoned with vinegar, miso, sugar, and green onions, mixed with grated radish. You can eat it as it is! It was crunchy and very delicious!
- Swordtip squid sashimi: 680 yen
I put it on hot rice and made squid bowl! It's exquisite.

I stopped by for lunch in the fluctuating bad weather. I ordered two set meals for five people, each set meal costing 2000 yen, and also bought a pack of sashimi with buri and red seabream from the store to eat in. The restaurant was like a small hut, but it was comfortable with effective air conditioning and bright lighting. The set meals were ready in about 10 minutes. The seafood bowl, simmered sea bream, simmered squid, crab miso soup, and rice were included. The seafood bowl had two sweet shrimp and plenty of salmon roe. The sea bream was small but came with its head. The miso soup had half a crab and two dumplings. The portion size was not enough for one person. You can also buy white rice for 200 yen, so you can just buy sashimi and eat it. Soy sauce was available for borrowing. The fish was all very delicious. The sashimi was cut quite thick, so it was a bit difficult to bite through... When I had a kaiseki meal at night, the thinly sliced sashimi was so easy to eat. The cost performance is excellent, but it does not require delicacy. It's a diner where you can come for a drive by the sea and eat fisherman's food. It was fun!

This is a seafood souvenir shop near the winery. I stopped by at the end of this Kyoto trip. The store offers a variety of items such as fresh fish, frozen goods, dried fish, and side dishes. The prices are a bit high for a tourist area, but it's recommended for seafood lovers. I found some rock oysters for 700 yen in the fresh fish section. They can be eaten on the spot and I ended up buying them. The size was decent, with a mild sweetness and a firm texture. Not bad for the price. Lastly, I received a complimentary meatball soup at the dining area, which was okay but not necessarily worth trying. This concludes my two-day Kyoto trip for Golden Week.

I came here and felt like having a seafood bowl, so I visited this place. The sign said "seafood bowl" in big letters, and it seems like you can also eat sashimi and other seafood dishes here. The seafood bowl takes time to prepare as they cut the fish after you order. While waiting, I looked around the store and decided to try the giant oyster. It was really big and tasted fresh without any fishy smell, very creamy. The seafood bowl came with miso soup, salted squid, fried sardines, and more, all for about 1240 yen. The miso soup with fish balls was delicious, with a great broth. The seafood bowl had squid, sweet shrimp, yellowtail, salmon roe, and more. The rice portion was a bit small, but the sashimi was all fresh and tasty. The staff were all local ladies and very friendly. Thank you for the meal!

During this season, I went to Amanohashidate in search of the brand "Torigai" that can only be eaten at this time. I had researched a shop at the foot of the cable car in advance, but they said they only serve it with a reservation. They recommended their sister shop, but the prices were high and the service was not welcoming. So, I decided to try another shop along the road with a sign that said "Torigai." Luckily, they had it for 1,080 yen each, and they even prepared it as sashimi on the spot. I also ordered a seafood bowl for 1,360 yen and some fresh oysters for 540 yen. The Torigai came with its liver, and it had a firm texture with a delicious taste of the sea. The oysters were creamy and tender. The service at this shop was very polite, and they even let me try some samples. It was a satisfying lunch experience. This place may not be suitable for those who prefer to dine in, but it is recommended for those looking for delicious food at a reasonable price. They also offer other dishes like fish balls, dried fish, and sashimi.

This is a seafood restaurant near Amanohashidate. I was taken there on a tour, but many people also come individually. They served delicious and warm tsukimi soup and amazake as a service. Of course, this season they also had heaps of crab and fresh sashimi. I bought dried flounder being dried outside, 4 large pieces for 1200 yen, which was very reasonable and delicious with just the right amount of salt. They also had delicious sake-marinated mackerel, homemade squid shiokara, and large dried squid. I couldn't resist and ended up buying various items. I also got Amanohashidate oil sardines. I still have lemons I bought in Ehime the other day, so I will enjoy seafood for a while.

On November 6th, the crab fishing ban was lifted! I immediately went to Amanohashidate to buy my favorite Seko crabs! I usually buy them at the Shigaki-san supermarket in Miyazu, but this time I went to Yamaichi in Amanohashidate! The Seko crabs here are about two sizes larger than the ones at Shigaki-san supermarket! The price is higher, but worth it! The sashimi of Houbou and Marugo was fresh and melted in my mouth, and the recommended dish at the shop was the boiled shirasu. I also bought my favorite Hirayari apples to take home.

Drive to Amanohashidate! The sashimi and dried fish at Yamaiichi here are very delicious! The saba sakura hoshi (mackerel marinated in mirin) with a long shelf life is incredibly tasty. The mackerel is very fatty. I used to prefer the aji sakura hoshi, but after trying the saba sakura hoshi here, I love mackerel. I forgot to take a photo, but I also bought a bunch of Hiraya apples from Hiraya Dairy in northern Kyoto, which I love. Thank you for the meal.

On the second day, I had a more relaxed schedule after exploring various places on the first day. I decided to visit a shop near the sea that is commonly found in tourist areas, where they dismantle and process seafood on the spot for sale. They also sell souvenirs and a variety of seafood products including alcohol. I bought some local beer to enjoy at home. While the craft beer scene is quite popular these days, I didn't find this beer particularly outstanding until I recently had it fresh in Kyoto, where I did notice its unique taste. I still think the best beer is from a master brewer.

There is a souvenir shop with fresh sashimi! I always buy sashimi here. They put it in styrofoam (for a fee) with ice, and I take it home. The fresh fish is very delicious. The surimi balls and hatahata are also very tasty. Thank you for the meal.
