I often visit this restaurant for both lunch and dinner when I'm on a business trip. It's about a 5-6 minute walk from the station. It's located on a quiet street that you wouldn't normally pass by if you were sightseeing. The interior of the restaurant, housed in an old traditional Kyoto-style building, has a counter where you can see the kitchen and two table seats. There is also a second floor. The toilet is located at the back of a courtyard typical of traditional Kyoto architecture. The restaurant's design really gives off a Kyoto vibe. In the evening, there is a 5000 yen course with all-you-can-drink that allows you to experience the atmosphere of Kyoto and provides a sense of satisfaction that exceeds the price. For lunch, there are two options priced at 1000 yen and 1500 yen. Before the pandemic, the menu had more of a Kyoto focus, but I understand that it must be difficult to offer lunch at the same price in these times. I am grateful that this restaurant can provide high-quality dishes. The way they cook the rice is exceptional. It's rare to find a restaurant near Kyoto Station where you can enjoy high-quality dishes made by Japanese chefs, so I really appreciate this place.

We visited the restaurant with three colleagues starting at 5:00 pm. We had pre-ordered a course with all-you-can-drink for 5,000 yen. The restaurant is conveniently located near Kyoto Station, with a traditional Kyoto-style building, making it suitable for various occasions. The eight-course meal included various dishes such as sashimi, yuba with small taro, Kyoto pork with black shichimi pepper, eel sushi, and more. The food was delicious and the price was reasonable. The total bill for three people was 16,500 yen. Thank you for the meal.

I'm working properly! Well, maybe I can't work without eating good food, haha. This time, I found this restaurant near Kyoto Station called "Sakutou Ichizen." I made a mistake with the name in the photo, sorry about that. I didn't know about this place, but I was looking for somewhere to eat and stumbled upon it. We had a set course with 8 dishes for the night, Sakutou cream cheese, and 2 beers for 6,000 yen. The food was delicious! Even though it was a spontaneous decision, I was satisfied. The hamo shabu-shabu was tasty, even the broth, and the cold soba noodles and chirimen sansho rice for the finale were great. The atmosphere of the restaurant was calm and nice, so it was enjoyable. I want to go back with someone next time. It was delicious! I will definitely go back again. Thank you for the meal!

At lunchtime, I felt like eating ramen and searched on Google Maps while walking until I finally arrived at a restaurant. However, it was full and seemed like it would take a long time, so I gave up. I searched again and found a nice-looking Japanese restaurant! It was located in the city center, in a small traditional house. I sat at the counter. The quiet and nice atmosphere inside the restaurant immediately made me feel relaxed. For lunch, I had the daily set meal with oden. The oden had a rich flavor that soaked well into the ingredients, which paired nicely with rice. It had been a while since I had oden outside, and I thought about trying to make it at home. However, making it delicious requires effort and can be costly. But the satisfaction of putting in the effort is different. The oden here had a good balance of flavors, not too sweet. The side dishes included vermicelli, vegetable tempura, and sesame tofu. Overall, it was a healthy Japanese meal. For those who want to eat a lot, the portion might be a bit small... (laughs) After 12 o'clock, more customers started coming in, and the restaurant was almost full. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

White fish with sauce - Kyoto, Shimo-kyo Ward - Sake cup Ichizen
For lunch on this day, I ordered the daily special set at the Japanese sake izakaya Sake Cup Ichizen near Kyoto Station. The main dish was white fish with sauce, accompanied by several side dishes, rice, pickles, and miso soup, creating a well-balanced meal. The white fish with sauce had a strong saltiness typical of a Japanese sake izakaya, and paired perfectly with the rice. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

A Japanese restaurant located about a 5-minute walk from Kyoto Station. The entrance looks quite old, so you might hesitate if it's your first time, especially when the sun is shining... At night, it is beautifully lit up with a Kyoto-like atmosphere. The first floor has a counter and semi-private rooms, while the second floor has two tatami rooms (for 8 and 10 people). The tatami rooms are not sunken kotatsu-style. They offer a course with all-you-can-drink for 5,500 yen, which is quite reasonable. The dishes are not typical of chain restaurants, they are well-prepared and delicious. There is a good variety of dishes for the price, and you will be satisfied. The service staff are polite but friendly, leaving a very positive impression. I will definitely visit again. Thank you for the meal. Note that the restroom is located outside (in the courtyard), so it can be very hot in the summer.

I visited on Sunday night. I didn't have a reservation, but I was able to enter without waiting. The building is old but clean and has a sense of cleanliness. I ordered the chef's choice course. It's 3000 yen, but there were 8 dishes, and I was very satisfied. The lineup of alcohol is mainly sake. I was seated by the window, but it was a little cold. It seems tough in winter. Overall, I think the level of the food is high and the cost performance is very good. I will go again when I come to Kyoto.

It is a shop located about a 5-minute walk from Kyoto Station. The atmosphere of the shop is great, with a calm and peaceful ambiance despite being within walking distance of Kyoto Station. We had the chef's special 8-course meal, which included various appetizers, sashimi, tempura, and sea bream hot pot, all of which were meticulously prepared. At around 3000 yen per person, it was quite reasonable. They also have a wide variety of sake to choose from, making the selection process enjoyable. There are also many a la carte options, with the standout being the scallion and shrimp tempura.

The traditional townhouse with three entrances in the Kyoto style is said to be 100 years old. The second floor's plaster walls resemble a warehouse exterior, leaving a lasting impression. The interior of the shop also retains a tasteful Japanese atmosphere, creating a sudden illusion of time standing still. Now, let's talk about the daily set meal. Various dishes are arranged on a square tray, each reflecting the customs of Kyoto cuisine. The flavors passed down through generations add depth to the deliciousness. Enjoying the gradual progression of flavors is a delightful experience.

Today, I went to Ichizen based on a friend's recommendation. I left the dishes up to the chef, and the hamo hot pot was incredibly delicious. I was impressed by the chef's skills and it made me love hamo even more. The atmosphere inside the restaurant is calm, with a renovated old house vibe. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

Visited Kyoto on a business trip. Wanted to try all the dishes for sake drinkers. They had a wide variety of sake. Everything was delicious, but the stir-fried Kyoto leeks and tofu pouch was particularly tasty. I'm glad I'm Japanese.

An izakaya with a hidden gem atmosphere and delicious food. It's a bit of a walk from Kyoto Station, but it was convenient as I was staying at a nearby hotel. The food was tasty and the place was stylish - I definitely want to go back.

I walked from Kyoto Station to "Nishikawa Abura-ten" to buy sesame oil, and on my way back to the station around just before noon, I found a charming restaurant and decided to go in. I arrived at 11:31, just in time for their lunch service which starts at 11:30. They offered a "Daily Special Lunch" and a "Regular Lunch" for 1,000 yen each. I chose the "Regular Lunch," which included a main dish of simmered beef, several side dishes, red miso soup, and pickles. It wasn't a huge portion, but it was just right for someone like me with a small appetite. The beef was cooked sweetly like sukiyaki and was very delicious. The whole meal was well-seasoned and carefully prepared. Despite my short stay in Kyoto for business, I was able to enjoy a satisfying traditional Japanese lunch.

When sitting at the counter, you can see the kitchen. The chef explains things in a nice way and the overall taste is gentle. The shabu-shabu, in particular, was incredibly delicious and soothing for my tired body from summer fatigue.
