Spaghetti specialty restaurant Caldo. Located right next to Edion, as soon as you turn into the side street, it appears in front of you. I arrived around 11:30 on a Saturday when they open at 11:00, and there were seats available so I went inside. Soon after, more and more customers arrived and the place quickly became full, with everyone being told that the restaurant was full. The menu is incredibly extensive, with seemingly every possible combination available! You can also add toppings, so it seems like you can really customize your dish. After much deliberation, I ordered the Tarako Ikashiso for ¥1300 and the Cream Special (mushrooms, bacon, corn) for ¥1350! I've been really into pasta with shiso leaves lately...! The cream sauce takes a bit of time, so I waited about 20-30 minutes. When the pasta was brought out, I was surprised by the amount of shiso! The aroma of the shiso was amazing. The thin pasta seemed to hold the flavors well and was very delicious! The squid was fresh, and the combination of the texture of squid, the taste of tarako, and the aroma of shiso was just fantastic. I also tried a bite of the Cream Special, and it was very rich, with the corn adding a nice touch. They have a pasta set menu for the day, which includes bread and salad, seems like a good deal. I would like to try the lunch set next time, it seems like a good value.

I chose the dinner set which came with a salad, garlic toast, and a drink. The dishes were served on stylish ceramic plates. The thin pasta was generously coated with mentaiko, and the flavor of mentaiko was prominent in every bite. The shiso mentaiko pasta was definitely a good choice. It was so delicious that I finished it in no time. The staff seemed busy with just two people, but they provided attentive service. The other pasta dishes also looked tempting, so I would like to visit this restaurant again.

The oil alone was delicious, but the tomato broth and the savory eggplant added an extra layer of flavor, making it really tasty. We both enjoyed our dishes until the last bite, without getting tired of the flavors. For a weekday lunch, pasta with salad or bread included costs around 1000 yen, making it a wallet-friendly place for the common people.

The entrance door is made of glass, so it's hard to see in from the outside, but you can see everything from the inside, so be careful not to peek in like a fool, as you'll be fully visible from the inside. I ordered the lunch menu (1000 yen including tax) which included Tomato Zucchini, salad, and bread. The salad that arrived had a refreshing dressing on it. Next, the bread was served. Then came the Tomato Zucchini pasta. It was a thin noodle type with a gentle tomato flavor. It was easy to eat and I really enjoyed the taste of the tomato pasta. The restaurant started to fill up with customers, showing that it was a popular spot. There seemed to be regulars as well as tourists among the customers. I was glad to discover this lovely restaurant. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal!

The tarako squid with shiso topping here is amazing. You can choose your favorite combination, so there are no bad choices, but everything I order is even more delicious than I imagined. Truly professional. However, since the pandemic, the business days and hours seem to be unstable. I hope they can stabilize soon.

Since I was on my way to work, I chose the Yuzu-flavored Kinoko Pasta set! Most of the customers were solo women, well, except for me (laughs). The interior of the restaurant had a slightly dim lighting and a stylish atmosphere, which makes sense with many female customers. In about 5 minutes, the salad and bread arrived! The salad was nicely done, and the pasta was thin spaghetti with a subtle yuzu flavor that was elegant and delicious! The seasoning was also refined! It was delicious to dip the bread in the sauce. A pasta specialty store that has been around for a long time. The tomato sauce is homemade and simmered. When I went towards the end of lunchtime, I could see the owner simmering the tomato sauce and white sauce. I went back for the first time in about 20 years, and it was still delicious! I had pasta, salad, and a glass of wine, and got change back from 2000 yen. From the seats at the back, you can see the cherry blossoms in full bloom along the Takase River.
