(Limited to 30 meals per day) Japanese Beef Tasting Lunch ¥2480
At Kyoto Station, after visiting Yasaka Shrine, heading south, you will see a charming dumpling shop called "Saryo Wakana," which is a popular sweets shop known for its dumplings and shaved ice. This time, I visited in a yukata for lunch. The restaurant has a total of 17 seats, including counter and table seats, all non-smoking. There is a baby chair available, and it's fun to watch them grill the fluffy Mitarashi dumplings on charcoal while you wait. Upon entering the restaurant, the cozy atmosphere makes you feel like you're in a French garden, and the sweat starts to fade away. The jazz music playing inside reminds me of the jazz cafes I used to frequent with my friends in Kyoto. The sophisticated staff serves you like French waiters. The highlight of the meal was the extravagant lunch menu where you can enjoy three popular beef bowls on one tray. The most eye-catching dish is the beef rose roast beef bowl, where A5 rank Wagyu beef is seared with a burner right in front of you, from rare to well-done. Next is the delicious Tan Yukke bowl topped with an egg. Since it's a sister store of a high-end yakiniku restaurant, you get a luxurious and satisfying bowl like a rose of Versailles. And the third dish is the tender simmered pork belly bowl, which is topped with beautiful yellow shredded eggs and served with simple yet sweet and savory simmered pork that has a strong presence. Adding the perfectly matched grated nagaimo yam on top gives it a refreshing taste. For foreigners, the grated nagaimo yam may be a mysterious Japanese food that leaves a lasting memory of their travels. The meat-focused lunch with meticulous attention to detail at Saryo will surely captivate the taste buds of guests beyond borders. Noteworthy is the beautiful dark orange "Orange Egg," made from eggs produced by chickens raised stress-free with natural feed such as Neccarich, daikon leaves, chitosan, linseed oil, green tea, beer yeast, seaweed, rice bran, calcium, garlic, and lactic acid bacteria. The concept of "connecting people through eggs" is wonderful. It's worth paying attention to the fact that they use such amazing eggs that are not available in regular households. Whether it's a girls' trip or a couple's trip from overseas, Saryo promises a small happiness along with a blend of traditional and modern Japanese scenes, warming hearts with its hospitality.
