Today, I was curious about the burnt garlic ramen, so I came to Ramen Kozou in front of Keihan Fujimori Station. The rich tonkotsu broth with burnt garlic, as well as minced garlic, is recommended for garlic lovers. The location in the scenic area of Fushimi would be beautiful during cherry blossom season. Celebrating the second anniversary with burnt garlic ramen for 850 yen. Time flies, it's already been two years. I debated between soy sauce flavor, but decided on the Kumamoto specialty of burnt garlic. Follow on Twitter and Instagram for a free seasoned egg. The appearance of the runny egg with the aroma of garlic was appealing! As for the taste, it was light yet flavorful with a nice garlic scent. It's easy to eat, unlike the recent thick pork bone broth trend. It's perfect as a meal after drinking. The melt-in-your-mouth chashu without any unpleasant smell made me consider getting a chashu rice bowl. Despite struggling with the huge portion of fried chicken, I managed to finish it all. Thank you for the meal. Until April 17th, they are offering a no-lose lottery draw for their anniversary celebration.

On New Year's Day, I felt like eating ramen and went to find a restaurant that was open on New Year's Day. It was quite difficult to find one open at night. I parked at a nearby coin parking and visited the restaurant (parking was free after shopping at MaxValu). Around 8 pm, I entered the restaurant with no other customers, and I could see the Keihan train line running below. It was a nice view. We ordered: burnt garlic ramen for me, salt ramen for my wife, and tonkotsu ramen for my son, all with seasoned boiled eggs on top. We also ordered fried chicken (3 pieces). I asked the owner if two plates of fried chicken would be enough for the three of us, and he kindly suggested starting with one plate and adding more if needed. The portions were quite generous. After about 10 minutes, all three ramen bowls arrived at once. Strangely, my wife's salt ramen had the pork slices served separately. The fried chicken was indeed quite filling - we couldn't finish two plates. As for the ramen, the burnt garlic flavor was similar to chili oil, but I personally prefer fresh garlic. The thin noodles, which I hadn't had in a while, were quite good. I also tried a bit of my son's tonkotsu ramen, but it lacked the burnt garlic flavor and didn't taste as good. My son enjoyed the tonkotsu ramen, saying it was tasty without any strong pork smell. The salt ramen was light and delicious. The fried chicken was well-seasoned and tasted great, especially with mayonnaise. Overall, it was a satisfying meal. This was our first ramen of the new year.

From the window of the Keihan train, you can often see this place... I have always been curious about it, but there is no parking! However, I came by car. I forgot my usual compact camera at work, so the image is not to my liking, but I ordered the "tonkotsu ramen" with sliced pork belly, bamboo shoots, and green onions. The soup has a rich flavor with the marrow fully dissolved, and it is carefully prepared without any strong smell. It feels like I have eaten this rich tonkotsu somewhere in Kyushu, and it is quite good. The straight, low-water, ultra-fine noodles boiled to a firm texture go well with the rich soup. The chashu is made from a Kyoto brand pork, although I didn't catch the name... It's not melt-in-your-mouth tender, but it is sufficiently soft and sweet in flavor. It might not be suitable as a beer snack. The crunchy bamboo shoots have a nice texture and taste delicious. There are seats where you can enjoy your ramen while watching the Keihan train, so it's a recommended find for ramen lovers. Since I came by car this time, I got a parking ticket at Rose Town Times, bought juice at Max Value, and processed it at the register! It's free for 90 minutes, so it's a good deal for exiting.

I visited this place on the evening of the last day of the Golden Week holiday. Since all my plans to go out were canceled due to the holiday, I decided to treat myself to a solo dinner. When I arrived around 5 pm, it was raining and the place was empty. I sat at the counter but later realized there was a seat with a great view of the Keihan train that I regretted not choosing. I ordered the "Charred Garlic Ramen" with a side of fried chicken, and it was served in about 12 minutes. As the dish arrived, the delicious aroma of charred garlic filled the air, which I really enjoyed. The original soup was a well-balanced tonkotsu soy sauce broth, not too heavy but flavorful and easy to drink. The addition of the burnt garlic aroma made it irresistible for garlic lovers like me. The thin, firm noodles paired perfectly with the soup. The tender chashu was also delicious and easy to eat. The fried chicken in the set was huge and very filling, with a flavorful but not overpowering seasoning. The only downside was that the rice portion in the set was a bit small for a rice lover like me. Overall, the combination of tasty ramen and a large serving of fried chicken was a satisfying meal. The restaurant has been open for about a year, and I look forward to seeing how they evolve in the future. Next time, I want to try their tonkotsu ramen while enjoying the view of the Keihan train. Thank you for the meal!

Kumamoto side story: Snack set for 500 yen + Charred Garlic Ramen for 800 yen. After stopping by Fukakusa for a standing drink on the way back from Kumamoto, we came here for dinner. Hmm. The food here is delicious but it's a bit quiet. Maybe it's because of the rain. Despite being tempted by the limited seafood, as we didn't have a satisfying meal at Kumamoto Station, we decided to try the Kumamoto Ramen here (is that the right choice?). Of course, we started with the snack set. Today, we had highball with octopus Karaage and fried gyoza. I don't usually eat octopus much, but for some reason, I always end up ordering it here. The ramen had lots of green onions, tender chashu, egg, and fried garlic. As for the taste... I found it to be a bit different from Kumamoto, but still delicious in its own way. I prefer the sweeter chashu here. I used to think that takana (pickled mustard greens) was common everywhere, but turns out it's not. While enjoying our drinks, we had a lively conversation with the chef about chashu. He really puts so much effort into it. The food here is great too! Thank you for the meal.

The restaurant is located just outside Keihan Fujimori Station, along the Okawa River, to the west of Kitoro Bridge. It is housed in a modern building with glass windows and a staircase leading up to the second floor. The counter and kitchen are completely separated by vinyl sheets, with no gaps in between. Each seat has a pitcher of water, alternating between the usual cylindrical type and a smaller household size. The owner trained at the Kagari branch in Kiyamachi. The burnt garlic ramen is a popular choice, but I opted for the salt ramen which has been made a regular item. I also ordered a fried rice set and 3 pieces of fried chicken. The ramen arrived with separate slices of pork. The noodles were plain with a hint of wheat flavor, possibly from Mineya Food's blue box. The soup had a familiar taste, similar to Sanco Food's classic salt ramen with hints of celery. The sesame seeds floating on top added depth. The watercress paired well with the noodles and soup, enhancing the flavors without overpowering them. The pork slices were slightly seared and tender, with flavors of star anise and honey. The fried chicken was generously sized, with a crispy coating and a hint of garlic and salt. The bottom was spread with mayonnaise, adding a creamy and tangy touch. The fried rice, although slightly burnt and lacking in cohesion, had a strong garlic flavor from the burnt garlic ramen sauce. The pork slices in the fried rice were flavorful and juicy. Overall, the pork stole the show from the rice. I might come back for the appetizer set next time, once I've settled down a bit.

This is a shop located on the west side of Sosui River. There are a few shops scattered around, but the area has few storefronts. From the window, I could see the platform of Fujimori Station. I ordered the burnt garlic ramen for 800 yen and a beer. The noodles were normal, the soup was slightly thick tonkotsu with a dominant soy sauce flavor. The sliced garlic was burnt in a frying pan. Other than the garlic, it felt like something I've eaten before. Unfortunately, it wasn't to my liking. The garlic was strong and lingered in my body. It seems to be run by a couple, as a child-like person was playing with a Nintendo Switch at the counter.

I visited the restaurant about 30 minutes before the lunch hours ended, parked my bicycle next to the shop, and went inside. The interior had counter seats and table seats, and I sat at the counter and looked at the menu. There were three ramen options, and I chose the Burnt Garlic Ramen (800 yen), which is not commonly seen in Kyoto. When it was served, the bowl exuded a fragrant garlic aroma. The burnt garlic chips covered the surface of the bowl, topped with seasoned egg, chopped green onions, menma, and chashu. The soup was rich and mellow with the savory taste of pork bone broth and the fragrant burnt garlic flavor. It tasted similar to tonkotsu ramen with lard oil, but the garlic flavor was more pronounced, giving it a bitter and aromatic taste. The noodles were firm and had a good bite, complementing the pork bone broth well. The chashu had a sweet fatty taste, savory meatiness, and a nice smoky flavor that paired well with the pork bone soup. This was a ramen I had never tried before, and the staff mentioned that it is common in Kumamoto. While the burnt garlic flavor was prominent, there was a slight overpowering bitterness. The base pork bone soup was flavorful and smooth, so I thought that toning down the bitterness would make it even more delicious. Next time, I would like to try the tonkotsu ramen.

Salt ramen for 800 yen with a fried chicken set for 250 yen. It's been a few months since I last came here. They have added salt ramen to the menu, so I decided to try it with the fried chicken set. The watercress and bamboo shoots were a bit difficult to pick up with chopsticks because they were so soft. The chashu was incredibly tender, you could probably eat it even without teeth. The soup was a bit on the salty side, but when mixed from the bottom, it had a nice seafood flavor. The fried chicken was as huge as ever, with two pieces this time. I've noticed that when you take it home, it becomes more moist and delicious compared to when it's freshly made. It's really close to the station, so I'll definitely come back again.

The ramen was delicious, but the homemade char siu was exceptional! It was so good that I want to buy it for snacks next time (100g for 250 yen).
[Burnt Garlic Ramen]
[Noodles] Thin and straight
[Toppings] Pork char siu (2 slices), chopped green onions, seasoned egg (half), burnt garlic
[Soup] The pork bone soup had a strong garlic punch and a slightly thick consistency. It was a stamina ramen and very tasty!
[Soy Sauce Ramen]
[Noodles] Regular curly
[Toppings] Pork char siu (3 slices), chopped green onions, menma (bamboo shoots)
[Soup] The soy sauce ramen had a seafood flavor with a good balance of spiciness. The curly noodles and the generous amount of chopped green onions were delightful, and the pork char siu was tender and flavorful.
(Note) Sometimes having the soy sauce ramen after the burnt garlic ramen can make it seem less impressive.

Colleagues and I had lunch in Kyoto. We visited a newly opened ramen shop right next to Fujimori Station. It was a rainy day, but the bright atmosphere inside the shop with many windows made it feel cozy. We chose seats by the window overlooking the charming Fujimori Station.
We ordered:
- Charred garlic ramen for 800 yen
- Colleague added 2 pieces of fried chicken and a small rice set for 250 yen.
The ramen arrived in about 10 minutes. It had a striking visual with plenty of charred garlic on top. The broth was thick and slightly sweet with a mild saltiness, making it easy to drink. The thin noodles paired well with the broth. The soft bamboo shoots and thinly sliced pork were delicious. The charred garlic added a crispy texture and a slightly bitter taste, which might be divisive among diners. Personally, I found it too bitter. Next time, I might try the mild tonkotsu ramen they offer. Overall, it was a good meal. Thank you.

Located just a 1-minute walk from Keihan Fujimori Station, this place is said to be opened by someone who trained at a famous ramen shop. Intrigued by the burnt garlic, I decided to visit. Arrived at 1 pm and entered the restaurant. There was one customer already there and another group of two came in after. The interior has counter seats and table seats. The 4-seater tables are somewhat separated like semi-private rooms, but the one in the southeast corner with glass walls might get hot in the upcoming season. I sat at the counter and quickly ordered the "Burnt Garlic Ramen with extra chashu + fried chicken set" as I had done some research beforehand. The ramen arrived in less than 10 minutes, followed shortly by the set. The ramen was delicious, but the burnt garlic was bitter. It's a personal opinion, but the bitterness from start to finish was a bit much. The chashu was melt-in-your-mouth tender, and getting this much for an additional 200 yen was appreciated. The fried chicken, consisting of two large pieces without any side dishes, was a manly touch. The seasoning was good, but the chicken was a bit tough. The garlic slices visible in the kitchen were probably from a store-bought pack, which is fine, but I wish they were kept out of sight. I often have errands in this area, so having more options is great. I'll try something else next time. However, please note that you cannot park your car here!

It's been a while since I had some delicious ramen♬ Kyoto Fujimori Ramen Kozou Maido! Yamadera here. On this day, I went to a new ramen shop in Kyoto. The shop is called Ramen Kozou, located just a 1-minute walk from the Keihan Electric Railway Fujimori Station. As soon as I entered the shop, I felt the cleanliness and warmth of the wooden interior. They offer three types of ramen: Chicken and seafood-based soy sauce ramen for 700 yen, Tonkotsu ramen for 700 yen, and Burnt Garlic Ramen for 800 yen. You can add 250 yen to any ramen to get a set with 2 pieces of fried chicken + small rice or 4 pieces of gyoza + small rice. Students can get a free extra serving of noodles by showing their student ID. I chose the shop's recommended Burnt Garlic Ramen for 800 yen and added 250 yen for the fried chicken + small rice set. The soup was amazing, with a thick texture and a rich flavor of tonkotsu and sweetness. The burnt garlic aroma and the umami of the Ma oil also added to the experience. The thin noodles were reminiscent of Kumamoto ramen, according to the owner. The chashu, made from Kyoto's brand pork, was incredibly tender and juicy. The half-boiled egg and thick bamboo shoots were also delicious. And the fried chicken was huge! It was clear that the owner wanted customers, especially students, to leave with a full stomach. I was so full after the meal that I couldn't eat anything else! They also offer bento boxes and chashu for takeout. I will definitely be revisiting this place as it has become one of my favorites. Thank you for the meal! ☆Basic Information☆ Address: 7-12 Kitoro-cho, Fukakusa, Fushimi-ku, Kyoto Closed: Not specified Business hours: 11:00-14:00 / 17:30-23:00 Difficulty of entry for one person: ★☆☆☆☆ (Easy)

I visited a newly opened restaurant and tried their burnt garlic ramen. The aroma was strong and the first bite was quite impactful. However, towards the end, it started to feel a bit monotonous. The chashu was thick but a bit dry. The temperature of the soup seemed to be off, creating a mismatched feeling. Maybe if they seared it, it would be better.

On May 1, 2020, I visited a restaurant on the first day of Golden Week, a Saturday night after 8 pm. The interior seemed to have been a coffee shop before. From the table, you could see the Keihan train running, which was nice. I ordered burnt garlic ramen. The noodles were firm. The soup was a rich tonkotsu broth, typical of Kyushu style. The noodles were also thin, similar to Kyushu tonkotsu ramen. It had a lot of fried garlic in it, giving it a strong punch. I added plenty of shichimi pepper halfway through and finished it all.

Opened in April. It's quite close to Keihan Fujimori Station along the Biwako Canal. I ordered the Charred Garlic Ramen for 800 yen with a side of fried chicken for 250 yen. Since Kyoto also issued a state of emergency, I was prepared to leave if it was crowded. Since there were no other guests, I decided to give it a try. I think they serve Kumamoto ramen, but their specialty is the Charred Garlic Ramen. Toppings include green onions, bamboo shoots, half a boiled egg, and chashu pork. The soup was delicious with no unpleasant smell, and the garlic added a nice punch to it. The noodles were thin and easy to eat, and the fried onions on top added a nice touch. The fried chicken in the set was large and crispy, which I enjoyed. It was so big that I couldn't even consider getting a refill (laughs). The chef mentioned that they used to work at "Kagari" in Kiyamachi, which only opens in the evening. I understand that times are tough, but I hope they can overcome the challenges.
