In a corner of Nishiki Market, there is a large store with a bustling atmosphere. The interior is filled with people of various races and the tables are crowded. It's a great place to stop by after work.
- Ramune: 360 yen
The tables are a bit slanted, so be careful with the bottle. When you shake it, it makes a clinking sound. It's a nostalgic taste from childhood.
- Kyoto-style Gyoza: 660 yen
The skin is thick and chewy, with a crispy bottom. The filling is plentiful and the pork is light and delicious. Despite the slightly uneven cooking due to the thickness of the skin, it's still worth a try. The meat inside is tasty. They also serve oden, so I'll definitely go back when it cools down.

Visited on a Sunday afternoon. There was a line of about one group. The prices may be a bit touristy, but that's to be expected in a tourist area, right? The broth was delicious, and I was satisfied with the toppings that were typical of Kyoto. Looks like it would be a great place for drinks at night too! :)

I was drinking in the Nishiki Market at lunchtime, so I came here for my second round. I ordered nama-fu, edamame, and oden. I love nama-fu, so it was delicious. The oden with soaked daikon radish and white konjac was tasty. Also, the wiener was crispy. The seat was a bit cold with the direct hit of the air conditioner, but I was given warm tea, so it was good.

Around 400 years ago during the Edo period, Nishiki Market in Kyoto was established by fishmongers and has been thriving ever since. With 130 shops spanning about 400 meters from Teramachi to Takakura on Nishikikoji Street, it serves as Kyoto's kitchen and a popular tourist spot. In the heart of Nishiki Market is the dining establishment "Motokura Nishiki Main Store." In its retro Japanese-style interior, a variety of dishes such as udon, oden, and okonomiyaki can be enjoyed with drinks in a casual atmosphere. I stopped by for a quick drink before dinner tonight. [Drinks and dishes at Motokura Nishiki Main Store for a quick drink] *Comments are in the photo. ◆ Oden (daikon radish, egg) ◆ Chilled tomatoes ◆ Assorted pickles from Nishiki and Uchida ◆ Drinks ☆ Kirin Ichiban Shibori draft beer ☆ Highball I visited in the evening, and the charming traditional Japanese atmosphere seemed to attract many foreign tourists, so it was crowded. Located right in the middle of Nishiki Market, it is a great spot for meetings or a casual drink. Thank you for the meal.

I had to use the restroom while I was strolling around and ended up in this restaurant. Most of the customers were foreigners, and I felt like I was the only Japanese person there. I ordered some kushikatsu and other dishes. The taste was... well, it was good enough for me to enjoy. I didn't stay long, so I can't really say much. It's a good place to stop by quickly. Thank you for the meal.

A restaurant in Nishiki Market in Kyoto where you can enjoy both food and drinks. They have a wide variety of alcohol, including local sake. The menu offers a range of dishes from snacks to hearty meals at reasonable prices. The restaurant is non-smoking (with a smoking room available), making it family-friendly. A must-try is the delicious assortment of simmered daikon in oden, and the clear broth udon that Kyoto is famous for. The drinks include value-for-money large sizes. The restaurant is popular and always crowded with customers.

It is an izakaya that serves a variety of dishes such as kushikatsu and oden! The silver cod with miso paste was very tender and delicious!! However, the prices are a bit high, probably because they cater to tourists. The staff is mostly young and greeted us with a smile! They also have restrooms and a smoking area inside.

I strolled around Nishiki Market in Kyoto. It was crowded with tourists and I could hardly walk straight. There were many places where you could enjoy sashimi and fried food, but it was too cold outside to eat with your hands. However, I found a shop that specializes in oden and udon, with a door that closes properly. I went in and ordered beer, highball, oden, and udon. Today's oden had a strong dashi flavor, so I felt at ease eating it slowly. There were many foreign customers and English signs as well.

I stopped by casually. Maybe it's my third time? I ordered kushikatsu, but it was frozen and not very good. 6 skewers for 1,000 yen. The beer was just okay. There were a lot of foreigners due to the relaxed COVID restrictions. The atmosphere of the restaurant is nice, so I might give it another try!

Located in Kyoto, "Motokura Nishiki Honten" is a reasonable izakaya where you can enjoy day drinking. The Megajock is quite heavy and recommended for those who want to drink a lot. The oden has a rich broth that warms the body. The beef tendon stew is sweet and the meat is tender and delicious. The grilled chicken and leek udon is a perfect dish to finish with its slightly salty soup. The noodles are thin and soft, and the dashi is delicious. Highly recommended for a drink at Nishiki Market! I have visited an izakaya located in a prime location at the center of Nishiki Market even in the summer to eat shaved ice. Although they seem to specialize in udon, I have never tried their udon. The izakaya has a wide variety of menu items, reasonably priced, and many delicious dishes, so it is always bustling with customers dropping by!

While walking through Nishiki Market, it started pouring rain. I decided to have a late lunch and take shelter from the rain at a restaurant I had been curious about. I ordered a highball, Kyoto tofu salad, and simmered beef tendon. Looking at the menu, the prices seemed a bit high for a tourist area, but the food was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

Zigen, the operator of the famous okonomiyaki restaurant "Warai" at Kyoto Nishiki Market, also operates a teppanyaki restaurant called "Warai," a tempura restaurant called "Hottokaya," and an oden and udon restaurant called "Negitaro." Each restaurant offers its own specialties, allowing customers to enjoy a variety of dishes. It is also convenient that they serve food and drinks throughout the day.

I went to "Motokura Nishiki Main Store" in Nishiki Market after a long time. Assorted oden for 803 yen, grilled sandfish with salt for 550 yen, simmered beef tendon for 682 yen, cold yellow cherry blossom sake for 462 yen, lime highball for 396 yen. The taste is average for a casual izakaya, but being able to drink from noon at Nishiki Market is convenient. The service is good!

This is Motozo Nishikie Main Store! A casual izakaya located in Nishiki Market where you can easily drop by. Their menu includes tonpei-yaki and kushikatsu, both reasonably priced and delicious no matter what you order.

In the bustling Nishiki Market, I found a cozy spot to enjoy a drink! This place seems like a dream come true for someone like me who wanted to try all kinds of kushikatsu, yakitori, and tonpei-yaki in Kyoto. I ordered cheese, shrimp, and lotus root kushikatsu, as well as red and black chicken skin yakitori, and tonpei-yaki. I also had two draft beers. The background music was 90s JPOP. The kushikatsu was delicious, especially the red chicken skin with plenty of chili and onion flakes. The black chicken skin was good too, with just pepper and sauce, but you can add some of the flakes from the red one for extra flavor. The tonpei-yaki was decent, not exactly what I expected but still enjoyable. The atmosphere was nice during the quiet hours. The bill came to around 2,600 yen. Thank you for the meal!

I wandered around Nishiki Market at the end of the year and felt like having a drink early in the evening, so I dropped by. It was cold, so I ordered a variety of oden, beef tendon stew, assorted kushikatsu, spicy stir-fried bean sprouts, and dashimaki with Kujo negi. I was still bright outside but had a drink! It was so good. Although I must have been really hungry because I only have a picture of the dashimaki (T_T). Well, it's okay since there are plenty of photos on Tabelog. The menu is extensive, with some Kyoto-style items here and there, no breaks, and the prices are reasonable. Even though I ate a lot beforehand, it was perfect for a casual drink. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

For lunch, I ordered a spring assorted deep-fried skewers platter which included saury, rapeseed blossoms, bamboo shoots, firefly squid, and sea bream. I also ordered pork, beef, quail, sausage, shrimp, and eggplant skewers, as well as deep-fried chicken skin and bonjiri. The batter was not too thick, making it easy to eat. It was my first time trying deep-fried chicken skin and bonjiri coated in yakitori sauce with pepper, and it was delicious. It's been a while since I had skewers, but it was really good.

After visiting the Golden Pavilion, we had some time before watching Wonder Woman 2 at Movix, so we decided to stop by Genzo in Nishiki Market. I initially thought it was pronounced "Kuramoto" (lol) because I once got really drunk there over 10 years ago during the day. It was around 3 pm, during the pandemic, yet the place was almost full, with many female customers. I heard their udon was delicious, but since we are drinkers, we focused on the appetizers. I heard the chashu was good, but unfortunately, they were sold out. Nonetheless, the service here is excellent. Despite being located in a touristy area where many places are sloppy, the staff here were efficient and polite. I'm not sure if they were part-time or full-time employees, but the female staff members were quick to respond when we called out "excuse me," and promptly took our orders. The deep-fried red chicken skewers were delicious, especially the crispy skin and juicy meat. The skewers were also tasty, and we were able to eat and drink to our heart's content without breaking the bank. Thanks to the satisfying meal, I ended up dozing off a bit during the movie.

I passed through Nishiki Market around 5:30 pm on my way to Daimaru. Many shops had their shutters closed due to the late hour. I decided to stop by here, where I had been once before. Looking at the menu, I noticed that while the udon was a bit pricey, other items were not as expensive. I wondered why the udon was more expensive compared to other dishes. I ordered oden with daikon radish, konjac, thick tofu, and mochi-wrapped inari. The daikon was thick and tender, but the broth was very strong! It was a bit too salty for me, with a strong soy sauce flavor. I also ordered a few pieces of kushikatsu (no photo). The crispy batter was light and delicious. They provided sauce, but I asked for salt instead (only shichimi was on the table). Surprisingly, despite being in Nishiki, smoking was allowed in the restaurant, which could be appreciated by smokers.
