The atmosphere of this traditional-style restaurant is great. The soba noodles and okonomiyaki with spicy sauce are delicious. The menu is limited, but if you're just going for okonomiyaki and teppanyaki, this is the place to go. However, some of the staff seem a bit difficult or quiet, which is a shame.

I was invited by my senior in Kyoto and visited this place with a friend. This restaurant has been around for over 50 years. The grilled heart, chicken thigh, squid, and cabbage with salty or thick sauce were all deliciously spicy. I had yakisoba with extra pork and added spicy sauce, which was also tasty. I forgot to take a photo. The negiyaki had leeks and squid in a thin dough, topped with spicy sauce, and was also delicious. We had bottled beer as my friend was driving back. The men enjoyed day drinking with delicious teppanyaki, which made the beer go down smoothly. We also tried a sweet carbonated drink that is popular around here, which was a new experience for me. It tasted like the Chu-Hi I used to drink, and it paired well with the spicy sauce.

It's been so long that I can't remember when I last visited. I can't even recall what I had to eat. I ordered soba noodles with pork, and it was delicious. It's been a while since I had okonomiyaki cooked on the griddle. Ah, the okonomiyaki was so tasty! I'm completely satisfied. Thank you for the meal. I couldn't drink "aka" since I was driving, which was a shame.

The atmosphere is excellent! I ordered yakisoba (mixed). Mmm, delicious! There are two types of sauce. The spicy one is really hot, kids would cry, haha. The restaurant has a lot of character. The iron plate has clearly been used for a long time. Thank you for the meal.

I arrived around 3:00 PM on Wednesday, February 24, 2021. The store is spacious and lovely. This is my third stop for food in Shimabara. I ordered akashiyaki, okonomiyaki, and yakisoba. They were incredibly delicious, and my mouth was filled with happiness. I am completely satisfied and feeling very happy. Next time, I want to come here first and try various dishes. Thank you for the meal. I will definitely come back. I will eat with gratitude for all the ingredients in this world. Calling for delicious food! The more I eat, the more power overflows!

I went to a long-established okonomiyaki restaurant in Kyoto. It's located in a residential area! It felt like the kind of okonomiyaki place you would find near your grandma's house when you were little. The inside of the restaurant is open and has a counter with a teppan grill, as well as a few table seats. Reservations are relatively easy to make. I ordered okonomiyaki and yakisoba teppanyaki. The taste was okay, nothing special, haha. Some people might find it a bit lacking. They serve beer, bakudan, and chuhai for drinks. Personally, I wished they had highballs! But overall, I enjoyed the experience of dining at this old-fashioned teppanyaki restaurant. It was very affordable! ✨

Showa Okonomiyaki from the Showa era. Cheap and delicious! The original okonomiyaki shop. I highly recommend trying the yakisoba okonomiyaki at this shop. It is the first shop in Kyoto to create a dish called "Red," which has a spicy kick to it.

It's been a while since I last had it, but it was delicious! It seems like okonomiyaki has become thicker than before. Thank you for the meal. m(_ _)m

It's a well-established restaurant in the historical Shimabara district, known for its delicious okonomiyaki. The menu and drinks selection are limited but reliable. The atmosphere is like that of a beloved local restaurant cherished by regular customers.

I'm not sure if it used to be called Okonomiyaki Street, but there are old-fashioned Okonomiyaki restaurants lined up here. Among them, this place is said to be the most popular. We enjoyed teppanyaki, negiyaki, and yakisoba while drinking Akadama wine, which is said to be the birthplace of "red." There are spicy and sweet sauces, as well as bonito fish flakes and seaweed for seasoning. It's nice that the sauce isn't already spread on top, so you can season it to your liking. Akadama wine is a bit sweet, and I'm sure the wine itself is sweet too. Nevertheless, I keep ordering more (laughs). I like the yakisoba, probably because I don't eat Okonomiyaki often and I'm more used to yakisoba in my daily life, so it's comforting (laughs). The squid teppanyaki is quite large, so it's a good dish to enjoy while cutting it into small pieces. It may seem like a place that's not easy for girls to enter alone, but it's a very popular restaurant where many people say it's their favorite.

The shop had a rating of 3.08 when I visited. This okonomiyaki restaurant started serving alcohol by the time I was allowed to drink. The octopus, chicken, and tendons grilled on the hot plate make a great pairing with "bakudan" sake. I first tried this red sake at this restaurant. After several decades, I visited again and enjoyed octopus, chicken, and tendons with bakudan in hand, just like back in the day. There isn't necessarily a focus on high-quality ingredients or cooking techniques, but it just tastes good. Maybe it's the spice of nostalgia that makes the food taste so delicious. That nostalgic spice really enhances the flavor of the food.

As soon as you step into this minor local shop in Kyoto, you will feel a strong Showa era vibe. Although they serve okonomiyaki, the recommended dish here is the grilled chicken on a hot plate. It tastes best with spicy sauce and a cold beer. I always make sure to buy some sauce to take home. They only sell one bottle per person. This place is perfect for those looking for Kyoto's B-class gourmet experience.

This is an old-fashioned okonomiyaki restaurant. A friend's senior recommended it as a delicious place to go when craving okonomiyaki. The menu is simple, with options for okonomiyaki and teppanyaki dishes. I ordered the okonomiyaki mix and teppanyaki chicken without hesitation. The highlight here is the sauce, especially the extremely spicy sauce, which pairs well with alcohol and is very tasty. It's quite spicy, but as you get used to it, you'll become addicted to the flavor! Definitely give it a try.

Dinner was nothing at home...>_<...decided to go to the nearby budget-friendly restaurant! We used to go there a lot when the kids were little (^.^) It's been a long time since I've been there. In the past, it was my job to go and reserve a table first (nostalgic). Where did that scene go? The restaurant was empty and quiet~_~; The owner has always been unfriendly (resembling Nakamura Karyuudo) and the employees are the same people from before (they were young, but now have some gray hair). We ordered teppanyaki squid yakisoba, large portion, and squid liver (alcohol). We mixed the yakisoba with spicy sauce and ate it. It's good to put a lot of spicy sauce and eat it while sweating. The teppanyaki squid has a satisfying texture. We only ordered yakisoba because the okonomiyaki was not that great. I realized that due to the not-so-great atmosphere of the restaurant, I should stick to takeout only.

I had okonomiyaki at "Yasui," located a little down the Minami-kawa in Hanaya-cho. This place is said to be the birthplace of the red (or bakutan) drink made by mixing Akadama port wine with shochu, commonly found in old okonomiyaki restaurants in Kyoto. The restaurant itself is an old-fashioned teppanyaki place in Kyoto. During the day, local men gather here to chat and drink. I tried the red drink, which was served in a glass, and it was surprisingly delicious. The okonomiyaki I ordered with yakisoba was also very tasty, cooked with care. Although I wasn't very hungry, the other teppanyaki dishes and simple yakisoba looked appetizing as well. I would like to visit again.

Visited on October 19, 2011 (Wednesday) around 8:15 pm. There were 6 customers already there and 6 more came in after. The restaurant had about 8 counter seats in front of the teppan and 2 tables for 4 people each. There were 4 staff members. The menu was very limited, so I had a hard time deciding what to order, but ended up choosing the "Pork Okonomiyaki for 700 yen." The place seemed lively with many reviews, more so than a nearby restaurant I visited the day before. So far, so good... The dish arrived after a wait of about 10 minutes. The way it was cooked was not Osaka-style or Kyoto-style, but more like Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki. There was very little flour and cabbage, and the value for money was very poor. It seemed like they were making a lot of profit. There were spicy and sweet sauces available, and I tried the spicy one at first, but it was too hot so I switched to the sweet sauce. The taste of the okonomiyaki itself was just average, but the portion was way too small. I wonder if they are not embarrassed to serve such small portions to customers. I'm impressed that other customers don't seem to get angry. I won't be visiting again. I'll stick to the okonomiyaki place nearby. The difference is too big.

Located in Futaritsukasa-cho, Shimogyo-ku, Kyoto City, Okonomiyaki Yasui is a traditional okonomiyaki restaurant that has been in business for 45 years. It is situated on the east side of the central wholesale market in Tanbaguchi, along the Mibu River Street. This restaurant is known for originating the "Aka" style of okonomiyaki. I happened to pass by and decided to try it out. I ordered the chicken teppanyaki with spicy sauce, which was incredibly delicious. Then I tried the pork yakisoba, which was also very tasty with its sweet sauce. Next, I had the pork okonomiyaki, which was absolutely delicious. Lastly, I finished with the squid and green onion yakisoba. Overall, the food was amazing and satisfying. I will definitely be visiting this restaurant again. Address: 4 Futaritsukasa-cho, Shimogyo-ku, Kyoto City. Phone: 075-343-9381. Business hours: 11:00-21:00. Closed on Sundays. Seating: 10 counter seats, 4 table seats. Parking available for 5 cars.
