After the Bon Festival, in the still hot weather, I found this place for a light Japanese lunch from Kyoto stroll. We ordered the sashimi set (1,500 yen) and the seafood bowl (1,100 yen). The sashimi included 10 slices of Kyoto's summer specialty, hamo, as well as grilled hokke, red miso soup, side dishes, and a generous portion. The highlight seemed to be the rice cooked in a kettle, but unfortunately, it was dry, possibly due to sitting for a while. Overall, it was delicious and satisfying.

I came here with my spouse for the first time in a while, recalling the delicious fish we had at a previous banquet. We started with a toast with Sapporo Lager. Among the dishes we ordered were "Simmered Eggplant," "Delicious Boiled Bai Clams," "Thinly Sliced Flounder Sashimi," "Red Tempura," "Seared Sushi," "Grilled Chicken Cartilage," and "Dried Squid." The Bai Clams and Red Tempura were a delight for fans of San'in cuisine. The "Seared Sushi," where tuna is wrapped in a fluffy batter and fried, was a surprising hit. They had a decent selection of sake, and we tried the shop's original Junmai Ginjo "Anji" and the Yamahai Junmai Muroka Nama Genshu from "Tamagawa." The grilling is done at the table on a charcoal grill, as seen with the "Seared Sushi" being seared right in front of us on a heat-resistant tile with a burner. While I would have preferred the grilled items to be served ready, I understand the appeal of this interactive style. Despite ordering relatively inexpensive dishes, each one was delicious as expected. I wonder if trying something a bit more expensive would have been worth it...

During lunchtime in the bustling Karasuma office district, I found a bright restaurant up a staircase. It was past 1 pm on a rainy day, so it wasn't crowded. The lunch menu featured two options: seafood bowl and seafood yukke bowl. I ordered the seafood yukke bowl with a regular portion, without any extra toppings. The dish arrived in a beautiful red container, resembling a traditional Japanese bento box. It included tuna, salmon, scallops, white fish, squid, and tamago, all topped with a Korean-style yukke sauce. The sauce was delicious, with a perfect balance of sweet and savory flavors. The seafood was fresh and the dish was enjoyable. I also tried adding soy sauce halfway through, and it was still tasty. This restaurant offers a great value for delicious seafood in Kyoto. I highly recommend trying both ways of enjoying the dish. The meal was satisfying, and they even offer free extra rice. They also have a smoking room available.

The sashimi and grilled fish were both delicious!! When I looked it up, the daily special set menu included tuna bowl and salmon bowl! I can't decide whether to order the daily special set menu or the seafood bowl! The owner of the restaurant was really nice. He said, "Sorry for the delay in serving. Please come back again." He was so kind.

I visited this restaurant with a client. The client, who is from the Kanto region, really enjoyed squid tempura at another restaurant before and wanted to eat it again. Although this restaurant didn't have squid tempura, they offered delicious seafood dishes like seared seafood, mackerel sushi, fish tempura, and Kyoto-style tofu. Everything we tried was delicious. The service provided by the male staff member was also excellent.

I thought it was a casual place where young people can enjoy themselves when I sat at the counter, but it's a high-rated restaurant in Kyoto on Tabelog. The dishes with flavorful dashi were delicious, and all the fish, whether sashimi, simmered, or grilled, were amazingly tasty. Of course, the staff were knowledgeable about sake and recommended a perfect match with the food.

Recently, Kyoto has become quite lively, with all the shops fully booked. Even on this day, we were turned away from the second restaurant we tried to go to because it was full, and we ended up walking until we reached here. I had visited this place a few times before and had a good impression of it, as the seafood was delicious. I thought they had Shirasu-don (whitebait bowl) last time, but it wasn't on the menu this time (laughs). They said they could secure a table for us near a group, so we didn't mind the slightly noisy atmosphere. The group turned out to be a pleasant group of elderly people, and we had a great time. I didn't know they had a seafood grill. It was a generous portion and I think it was less than 1500 yen. It was perfect for nibbling while grilling with my partner. The squid was tender, and there were firefly squid too, which made us happy. And they had my favorite Tenpo sake! I immediately ordered it warm, as well as some cold sake and highballs, and the drinks kept flowing. They said there was only a little bit left of the last bottle of Tenpo sake, so they gave it to us as a service (๓´˘`๓)♡. It's nice to receive this kind of service too. I think the person with the towel wrapped around them might be the owner. They were efficient but also had a unique character, making the experience enjoyable. It was a fun and delicious time that passed in the blink of an eye. I will definitely visit again (﹡ˆᴗˆ﹡)

I always order the seafood bowl for lunch at "Anji" restaurant, but this time I decided to try the "Sashimi Set Meal" that I had been curious about for 1300 yen. After a short wait, the Sashimi Set Meal arrived with two small side dishes, grilled fish, assorted sashimi, rice, pickles, and miso soup. The sashimi included tuna, red snapper, sea bass, squid, scallop, yellowtail, and mackerel. While the sashimi portion was smaller compared to the seafood bowl, the variety of sashimi and grilled fish were both delicious and paired well with the rice. I enjoyed the happiness of eating fresh fish for lunch while savoring the meal.

I came back from Akashi and had lunch the next day. I had trouble deciding on a restaurant, but ended up here. The sea bream was a bit shaky, but the seafood bowl for 1000 yen was pretty good. Some of the toppings were a bit watery, but overall, I was satisfied for the price. The clean and calm atmosphere inside the restaurant was nice too. I also got some mackerel sushi as a gift, and mackerel is just delicious.

I went to a restaurant that is known for serving lunch, and it was not very crowded. They offer three lunch options: sashimi set meal, seafood bowl, and shrimp fry curry. I decided to treat myself and ordered the sashimi set meal for 1,300 yen. It came with two side dishes, sashimi, grilled fish, miso soup, pickles, and rice. The sashimi was delicious, with a variety of types available. The grilled fish was also tasty, and they sometimes serve fried fish as well! Everything was delicious and enjoyable. The spacious interior of the restaurant allowed for a relaxing dining experience. While it may seem a bit pricey over 1,000 yen, it is definitely worth it! Thank you for the delicious meal!

I visited the restaurant around 11:50 on Sunday afternoon. There were two groups of customers before me. They had a limited lunch menu due to COVID-19. They only had six tables in a spacious room, maintaining great social distance. I had the Winter Special Hot Pot Set for 1400 yen, which included shrimp, clams, oysters, and fresh fish, all of which were delicious. The broth was tasty, and the ponzu and sesame sauce were perfect for me, as I don't usually eat them. The simmered eggplant was also delicious.

Before donating blood, I decided to have a meal to prepare myself. I ordered a perfect dish to warm up my body - curry rice with two pieces of crispy and juicy shrimp fry and pickles on the side. The shrimp had an amazing texture - crunchy on the outside and tender on the inside. This was my first time experiencing such a burst of flavors. This restaurant truly knows how to prepare seafood dishes.

Sashimi assortment -> Average
Lotus root tempura -> Not my favorite
Steamed fish that I don't like -> Lacks flavor in the fish, broth is not tasty
Cloudy peach sake -> Not sweet, more of an adult taste, not my preference
Taste did not match the price. Despite the high price, none of the dishes were delicious. Poor value for money.

I decided to change my plans and try the seafood bowl at the restaurant "Izakaya Anji Karasuma Rokkaku Store" today. The seafood bowl was different from what I usually have at other restaurants, with delicious toppings like sea bream, scallops, bonito, and squid. The rice was well-cooked and packed nicely. The miso soup was also tasty with seaweed and tofu. Overall, it was an unexpectedly satisfying lunch experience at this restaurant.

I went to this restaurant a few years ago, so I decided to visit again after a long time. We had a sashimi platter, yuba tofu, hot tofu, simmered sea bream, and nanohana ohitashi. The fish and tofu at this restaurant were delicious. The simmered sea bream had a rich flavor that paired well with sake. The burdock had a great texture, but making it a bit smaller would make it easier for women to eat. The yuba tofu was tasty with just salt and wasabi. Thank you for the meal.

When I came here a long time ago, it was like an old-fashioned izakaya with tatami mats and cushions, but after the renovation, the impression and atmosphere have changed completely! It looks really nice now, with spacious tables and seats even for solo diners, and a stylish European-style tile floor. The staff are friendly and fun to chat with. I was already full from enjoying wine and meat, but then they mentioned a shirasu bowl and I couldn't resist, so I ordered a mini one. I also tried the seafood grilled in magnolia leaf, which went great with sake. I spotted abalone, so I had the butter-grilled abalone too, which was cut into small pieces for easy eating. There's someone knowledgeable about sake, and they even have some hidden gems in their selection. The menu is extensive and the appetizers are well thought out, making it a great place for a first, second, or even third stop. I want to come back to try more of their menu items!

Today, after work, I had dinner in Shijo and then headed home. I stopped by a seafood izakaya that I had been to before, called Anji. Anji serves fresh seafood directly from the fishing port. The restaurant has a lot of seating and is lively, making it suitable for gatherings and parties. Since I was dining alone, I sat at the counter and enjoyed the following dishes:
- Kikuna and sweet shrimp sunomono: A beautiful sunomono dish with red sweet shrimp.
- Assorted sashimi: A plate of sashimi with four types - yellowtail, bonito, octopus, and sea bream. I enjoyed the fresh sashimi with soy sauce.
- Seared sashimi platter: A platter of seared sashimi including sea bream, bonito, red sea bream, and amberjack. The sashimi was seared in front of me, creating a delicious aroma. I could enjoy it with wasabi, salt, lemon, and grated soy sauce.
- Overall, I had a great time enjoying the variety of fish dishes, and the seared sashimi added an interesting twist to the usual sashimi experience. It was a fun and entertaining dining experience.

We went to celebrate our 10-month wedding anniversary. We started with a toast with red grape juice (300 yen) and red ginger ale (480 yen). For appetizers, we ordered a platter of assorted sashimi (4 types, 1280 yen), fresh oysters (780 yen), Hanbei-san's grilled tofu in miso sauce (780 yen), and duck breast (680 yen). I personally did not enjoy the grilled tofu in miso sauce. Feeling like we needed more appetizers, we also ordered grilled salmon belly (480 yen), which was delicious. For our main dishes, I had seared mackerel sushi (760 yen) and my husband had a Korean-style spicy seafood yukhoe bowl (950 yen). Both dishes were tasty, but unfortunately, the egg yolk in my husband's bowl was broken, which was visually unappealing. Overall, the atmosphere was not great, with a high average age group and a noisy ambiance. I would not recommend this place.

I always wanted to try this restaurant. I heard that their mackerel sushi is amazing and I really wanted to try it, even though I'm not a fan of mackerel. The atmosphere inside the restaurant was lively and bustling, like a typical izakaya. It wasn't my favorite type of atmosphere, but I understood that it was part of the concept of the place. The restaurant was almost full on a weekday night, showing how popular it is.
I sat down and placed my order:
- Assorted sashimi: The fish was fresh and delicious, worth coming back for.
- Grilled halfbeak: Huge and tasty.
- Seafood shabu-shabu: I chose conger eel, and the broth was incredibly flavorful.
- Bonito tataki: Pretty standard, but the bonito had no fishy taste.
- Mackerel sushi: The highlight of the meal. They sear it right in front of you and the fish is thick and delicious. Even though I usually don't like mackerel, I was pleasantly surprised by how good it tasted. Thanks to this restaurant, I've been more open to trying mackerel sushi lately. Overall, I was very satisfied with the experience. This place truly lives up to its reputation as a popular restaurant.

I tried exploring a new restaurant with a different atmosphere. The second-floor establishment had a good number of seats towards the back. The menu had a variety of options, but mainly focused on seafood. The appetizer was a salted dish of boiled whitebait and green onions, which paired well with alcohol. The sashimi, seared and assorted, as well as the kizushi, were all of decent quality. The salad had a nice crispy texture to it. The rolled omelette had a rich dashi flavor and was delicious. The grilled seafood dishes were all tasty, especially the fresh shellfish, which were promptly replaced if found to be bad. The clams and surf clams were so delicious that I wanted to order more. I definitely want to visit this place again.
