I love shaved ice, especially chocolate-flavored syrups. I enjoy the combination of cold ice and chocolate, savoring how they blend in my mouth. Blanbrun is a chocolate shop that has been around since 1935, specializing in chocolate. They offer chocolate shaved ice from May to September as a limited-time menu item. The interior of the shop has a classic atmosphere with chocolate-colored furniture. In addition to chocolate shaved ice, they also serve pasta and pilaf dishes for around 1000 yen. The chocolate shaved ice comes in a perfectly sized bowl. The finely shaved ice, just before turning into snow, blends well with the chocolate without sinking. The nuts and chocolate balls on top add a nice touch, especially when eaten with the ice without chocolate sauce. The rich chocolate sauce is truly impressive. I chose to savor the chocolate sauce without mixing it in, and it was delicious. Beneath the ice, there is a layer of rich chocolate sauce, ensuring you enjoy chocolate until the last bite. Be sure to eat the three thin chocolate decorations first as they may get lost in the coldness of the ice. This chocolate shaved ice is too good to be limited to just summer. They accept cash payments only.

On the second day in Kyoto, I walked over 20,000 steps every day and was quite exhausted. I decided to have something sweet, so I went to a cafe near my hotel. Since it was past 3 o'clock, they only had a few types of cakes available. I ordered a slice of roll cake and a cafe latte. The cake was delicious as usual. When I saw the cafe latte, I noticed that they had also frozen the coffee to make the drink cold without diluting it. I was impressed by their attention to detail.

Visited with my husband aiming for the limited edition chocolate shaved ice in summer! The store was almost full, Chocolate Shaved Ice ¥1,200. The fluffy shaved ice with rich chocolate sauce was delicious, and the texture of the nuts was enjoyable. It also came with condensed milk, which made it delicious until the end. Premium Gateau Chocolat ¥650. It had a rich taste more like chocolate than cake, and I thought it was truly a famous chocolate store. Hot Milk Tea ¥450 (¥100 off with cake set). Everything was so delicious! A delicious sweets store perfect for a reward! I would like to visit again and try other cakes as well.

I revisited to buy a souvenir for my son and his wife who love chocolate. They have 3 types of original chocolate bars ranging from 550 yen. The store also offers a variety of sweets and has seating for eating in, so I thought it might be a chocolate specialty store. There were many older ladies seen in the store.

The shaved ice was fluffy with a layer of smooth chocolate and a layer of creamy chocolate on top. Toppings included chocolate bars, chocolate balls, caramel nuts, and walnuts. There was also rich chocolate at the bottom. It was enjoyable until the last bite.

I visited the shop because I wanted to eat chocolate shaved ice. When I entered the shop, the first thing I saw was a showcase filled with cakes, and nearby there were also plenty of baked goods on display. In the back, there was a spacious eat-in area with 8 tables lined up. When I went on a weekday for lunch, there was only one lady dining in the eat-in area, who seemed like a regular customer. But as I was eating, more female customers started coming in. I thought they only had cakes, but they actually had a lunch menu with options like pasta, which came with cake and a drink for a very reasonable price. The chocolate shaved ice arrived. It had not only chocolate syrup soaking into the ice, but also a thick chocolate sauce drizzled on top. It was topped with a round piece of fresh chocolate, caramel-coated round nuts, crispy chocolate, it was truly a chocolate lover's dream! The ice was finely shaved and the chocolate wasn't too sweet, so I was able to easily finish it. I'm curious about their cakes and lunch menu, so I'll definitely visit again!

Today's shaved ice was from "Blanc Brunn" in Karasuma Marutamachi. I came here because they offer unique shaved ice. I'll have the "Chocolate shaved ice", please. Let's dig in. The chocolate flavor goes well with the shaved ice. I added condensed milk halfway through to change the taste. The melted chocolate at the bottom ensures the flavor lasts until the end. It was a unique experience. Thank you for the meal.

Accompanied my partner on a chocolate shop tour in Kyoto. The first stop was Brun Brun. It was lunchtime, so the café space was quite crowded. It seems that their matcha truffle chocolate is famous, but since we plan to visit a few more shops today, we decided to buy a 70% cocoa solid chocolate bar instead.
This is a long-established cake shop that has been in business for 85 years. They are famous for their chocolate cakes and chocolate Mont Blanc. Recently, they have also started selling low-sugar ice cream to keep up with the times. I saw their shaved ice dessert trending on Instagram, so I visited on a weekday. The seating area was spacious, and I was the only customer, so I could relax and enjoy my dessert. I tried the "Chocolate Shaved Ice" (1100 yen). It was reasonably priced for a high-end shaved ice dessert. I was skeptical about cocoa-flavored shaved ice, but the cocoa sauce they used was not too sweet and paired well with the ice. The sauce had a fruity aroma and was not overwhelming. It had whole nuts (probably hazelnuts) and mildly sweet chocolate inside, making it a refreshing summer dessert. It was clear that they carefully selected the cocoa they used. It was delicious! Next time, I want to try their regular cakes. Thank you for the meal!

There was no parking lot, so we had to use a nearby parking. We visited around 2 pm on a Saturday. The place was about half full, possibly due to the increasing trend of COVID and the rainy weather. However, many people were coming to buy snacks and cakes for takeout. I was looking forward to trying the shaved ice with plenty of chocolate here. But when I was given the menu, the matcha chiffon cake also looked delicious, so I ordered a set of matcha chiffon cake with vanilla ice cream. Of course, I also ordered the chocolate shaved ice. The service from ordering to receiving the items was very smooth. The matcha chiffon cake was incredibly fluffy and had a great matcha flavor! It was also larger than I expected! It came with whipped cream and the vanilla ice cream I chose. The chiffon cake was delicious on its own, but with the cream and ice cream, it became creamy and the taste changed, making it very delicious! The shaved ice was extremely rich in chocolate! It was so rich that I almost forgot I was eating shaved ice (laughs). It had walnuts, almonds, triangular chocolates, round chocolate pieces, and rich chocolate hidden at the bottom that hadn't melted. So, there was no issue of the ice melting and the flavor becoming weak towards the end. With various accents, I didn't get tired of the taste even though it was big and enjoyed it! It also came with condensed milk, so if you like it sweet, you can drizzle it on top. Just be careful because it's very big and may start to collapse like an avalanche as you eat (laughs). I recommend getting a separate plate in advance. Eating these two items with another person made us very full. We were extremely satisfied!

In a world like this, how can one resist eating sweet cakes? No, that would be impossible! Today I visited a famous cake shop in Kyoto called Blanc Brun. I tried their New York Cheesecake for 540 yen and orange juice for 600 yen. The New York Cheesecake was the monthly special, with Griotte cherries in the mousse on top, giving it a refreshing taste. The cheesecake part at the bottom was quite rich and delicious. It's a high-quality cake that cheesecake lovers will adore. I also heard that their shortcake is recommended, so I'd like to try it next time. Shortcake is the best way to truly appreciate the taste of the shop. I really liked Blanc Brun and would definitely visit again.

I visited the chocolate shop after seeing Hikari Hachimitsu on the Yoiko Don show. They sell various items like chocolate bars at the storefront. Since it's this time of year, there were no customers eating in. When I asked the staff which they would recommend between the Blanc Manger and Gâteau Chocolat Premium, they said the shop's specialty is Blanc Manger, but Gâteau Chocolat is popular because you can enjoy various chocolate flavors. Gâteau Chocolat Premium costs 495 yen. The top layer of chocolate is like a hard chocolate bar, thick and strong in chocolate flavor. The next layer of chocolate cream is rich and delicious, spreading a mouthful of chocolate flavor. Perhaps because they use a lot of butter, it feels heavy. It also uses plenty of milk chocolate, making it perfect for when you want to savor chocolate!

I visited the shop on Wednesday, October 30, a little after 12 pm. Although the eat-in area was full due to their lunch menu, I was able to purchase cakes to go without any wait. I bought the "Potiron" for 540 yen and the "Gâteau Chocolat Premium" for 495 yen. After taking photos at home, I tried them and both were delicious. It's hard to believe that this shop has been around since the Showa era, as they have continuously improved their offerings. The flavors were on par with those of trendy new shops.

It is located at the northwest corner of Higashinotoin in Takeya-cho. It is right near the children's support facility Kodomo Mirai-kan in Kyoto City. As soon as you enter the shop, you will see a showcase with baked goods displayed around it. The back of the shop is an eat-in space where you can enjoy cakes and in the summer, shaved ice as well. The sweets here are delicious and have a good sense of taste, making them perfect for small gifts. They also have Baumkuchen and pound cakes available.

I couldn't remember the fancy names, but both cost 450 yen each. The roll cake had a light and easy-to-eat chocolate cream filling. The other cake was rich and moist, sticking to the fork. It was delicious with lots of broken chocolate pieces. They also offer a variety of desserts like pudding, cream puffs, and more cakes, so there are still plenty of options to enjoy.

We visited Blanbrun because it was recommended by our child. We ordered the lunch set which includes pasta, dessert, and a drink. There were three pasta options to choose from and we could pick any dessert from the showcase. The dessert was a rich chocolate pudding, very delicious. The pasta was just okay for me, more like a side dish. The portion was quite filling. The prices are very affordable. It's a great place for families with children.

I went to a shop to buy chocolates for White Day return gifts the other day! It seems like you can also eat inside the shop, so I thought it would be great for a date. All the chocolates displayed in the shop looked delicious, and I had a hard time deciding. In the end, I bought the one with white chocolate and also bought another new item because I wanted to try it myself. There were 5 pieces in the box and they were all delicious, but the one with orange flavor was especially tasty! I would like to visit this shop again!

A local pastry shop beloved by the community. I bought various chocolates but forgot to take a photo when getting takeout... The chocolates have a smooth texture and are not too sweet - perfect to pair with red wine! Next time, I want to try out various treats in the cafe space!

This shop is famous for its chocolate cake, but this time I tried their Baumkuchen. It comes pre-sliced and wrapped, so there's no need to cut it yourself. It's said that the best way to enjoy Baumkuchen is to eat it in slices, and each piece has a satisfying size.

Located on the northwest corner of the intersection of Takeyacho Higashinijo, this stylish cake shop fits perfectly with the atmosphere of the Goshominami area. In addition to fresh sweets, they also offer a variety of baked goods suitable for gifts. The baked goods are all delicious and visually appealing, making them a delightful gift to give or receive.
