I arrived before 18:00 without a reservation, so I was barely able to get a seat. After that, the restaurant quickly filled up with reserved customers. Every dish was delicious, and it really made me feel like I had come to Kyoto! The sashimi, nishikyo-yaki, and rice were all delicious and I thoroughly enjoyed them. I would love to go back again.

We visited the first restaurant on our Kyoto trip. The food was so comforting that I don't remember much about it. What really stood out was the fact that the restaurant was renovated from a traditional townhouse. I found out about this place on YouTube, and for around 1200 yen, including dessert and a drink, I thought it was quite affordable considering the atmosphere. The staff were friendly and accommodating - they even stored our luggage on the first floor so we could relax and enjoy our meal.

Located near Gokomachi Street and Sanjo Street. The counter is long and easy to enter alone. The assorted obanzai is recommended. You can have a well-balanced meal. They have a good selection of Kyoto sake. Of course, they also have beer like Asahi Super Dry.

I made a reservation and visited the restaurant. I was able to enjoy my meal in a lovely tatami room. The set meal was only 1000 yen, and it was nice to be able to try various dishes. The atmosphere was great, and I had a relaxing time. I would like to visit again.

I stayed at a Hoshino Resorts hotel called OMO on this day, and there was a recommended restaurant there as well. I made a reservation without knowing about it through a search on Tabelog (restaurant review website)… I realized once again that making a reservation is essential for dinner in Kyoto on Saturdays. I'm glad I made a reservation! I was looking for a restaurant in Kyoto that serves traditional Japanese side dishes and made a reservation! They had a variety of menu options which was great. However, the beef tongue I ordered was a bit tough (see second photo). The sashimi was delicious though! One thing that concerned me was that the side dishes were displayed by the window, and the window next to it was left open. I wondered if it was okay in this hot summer weather. Overall, I think it's a good place for those who want to try a variety of side dishes, fish, and meat.

It was the night of the Yoiyama of the Gion Festival, so the restaurant was full. The staff were friendly and left a good impression. However, the food took quite a while to arrive, probably because they were very busy. Overall, the dishes were delicious. The grilled conger eel I was looking forward to was a bit watery. But the portions were generous and I left feeling full. Afterward, I enjoyed the night in Kyoto feeling good.

I usually only go for lunch, but this time I went for dinner with three friends for a girls' night out. We ordered a ton of food and the table was full. Every dish was delicious, but as expected from the name of the restaurant, the rice was incredibly tasty. As a finishing touch, I had one onigiri to myself. I thought the system where you can choose the filling and seaweed would result in a small onigiri, but it was actually bigger than I expected. The rice was so delicious. Even though we ordered a lot of dishes, the onigiri was the best.

This is my second time using this restaurant. I ordered the Okudohan Gozen. I'm happy that they haven't raised the prices, thank you. When I upgraded to the large size, I was surprised by the amount of food. I was worried if I could finish it all, but all the side dishes were delicious and I managed to eat everything. The sashimi, simmered dishes, and chawanmushi were all seasoned in a way that made the rice go down smoothly. With dessert and a drink included, all for 1320 yen, it's really the best value. It's easy to use even for one person, and it's a restaurant I love.

I chose this place near Kyoto City Hall, known for its colorful obanzai dishes, using the Foodlog. I visited shortly after it opened, but it was already full so I had to wait outside. After about 20 minutes, I was able to enter the restaurant. It had a traditional Kyoto-style atmosphere with a small garden at the back that let in natural light. The counter seats allowed me to see the chefs at work, although the legroom was a bit tight. I ordered a set menu with 9 obanzai dishes. The chef explained each dish to me in detail. The set included dishes like Kampachi, dried daikon with sesame tofu, pickled vegetables, spring rolls, mentaiko, cabbage, clam steamed rice, fried saury, and one more dish that I can't remember. All the dishes were handmade, with a Kyoto-style flavor, and were satisfying for a lunch meal. Thank you for the delicious meal.

I visited this restaurant during my trip to Kyoto. Despite the late hour, I was seated promptly and served delicious food right away! I heard they had a great selection of local sake, and even though I was unsure which one to choose, the staff kindly explained and recommended a great option. Both the sake and the food were incredibly delicious!

I went for lunch with two friends. We climbed the narrow and steep stairs of the traditional townhouse to the second floor. The restaurant seemed small and was full, so I was glad we made a reservation. The seats were not very spacious, so it might be cramped for larger men. There were various side dishes available, which was great! However, I'm not a fan of sashimi... When I told the staff, they kindly changed it to yuba for me, despite the sudden request. Overall, the portion size was just right for women. But as a big eater, I could have eaten a little more, haha. The food was delicious! Thank you for the meal. After the meal, I felt like having coffee, so we went to a nearby cafe right after, haha.

During my trip to Kyoto, I had a craving for obanzai and decided to visit this restaurant. I highly recommend ordering the 9-piece obanzai assortment for 1000 yen, as it is both delicious and a great value. The menu mainly focuses on Kyoto cuisine, with a variety of options including meat, fish, and vegetables.

I was drawn to the abundance of obanzai lunch options, so I decided to go around 1 pm. There were a lot of people, but I didn't have to wait long to get in. At the entrance, someone mentioned that the "Okudohan Gozen" was delicious, so I decided to order that. Inside the restaurant, there were rows of liquor bottles and jazz music playing. The obanzai dishes were overall slightly sweet and light in flavor. The rice was Yumepirika from Hokkaido and was also on the sweeter side. The steamed clam rice bowl was a first for me and was simply delicious. The dessert was a matcha cheesecake, rich and tasty. For the price, including dessert and a drink, it was a great deal. The rice restaurant in the traditional Kyoto townhouse was very stylish. It was my second time at Okudohan, and it never disappoints! The food is so delicious! My favorite is the cheese and rice cake spring rolls. They go really well with sake. But this time, I had beer. There were many foreign tourists, making the place lively. The only downside is that the interior is a bit dark, so it's easy to get drunk quickly!笑

"I wanted to try the lunch kaiseki at Okudohan, but it turned out to be reservation-only. Although the website mentioned that they also accept orders on the day, I recommend making a reservation if you want to eat there. I ordered the grilled fish with miso paste and dashimaki tamago, and everything was delicious. However, I personally prefer the dashimaki tamago to be a bit less seasoned. The price was around 1200 yen, which was reasonable. If you have a big appetite, you might find the portion a bit small."

It's a small townhouse café close to the station. It's recommended to make a reservation as there are few seats. The lunch with various types of obanzai dishes is recommended. They also have steak. The daily lunch menu with side dishes was handwritten and priced at 1000 yen. They offer obanzai lunch with sweets and drinks included, which I chose. There are several table seats for four on the first floor, and three tatami rooms on the second floor with partitions. The waiting time from ordering to serving was short. The homemade chawanmushi and sesame tofu were delicious.

As it was near the hotel, we stopped by for a light meal at this second place. The side dishes were not too overpowering in flavor, but still enjoyable with their softness. The yuba sashimi, served with soy sauce either on the stronger or milder side, was also delicious. Overall, a great experience!

I waited in line for about 15 minutes before entering the store, but the time flew by as I eagerly anticipated being able to eat Yumepirika and oden. Even though I came for the oden, I couldn't resist ordering the braised pork belly while waiting in line. When I asked about the portion size, they kindly said I could have seconds! I ended up getting seconds and enjoyed the oden and miso soup that came with it. The braised pork belly had a slightly chewy texture, but the seasoning was delicious and it went well with the rice. I visited with my friends. We had a platter of 9 types of obanzai, yuba tempura, pork kakuni with shredded dried bonito and sansho pepper onigiri, miso-marinated grilled mackerel, and sake (Gokai and Eikun). Everything was delicious, and my friends were happy, so it was great.
