This is my second visit. I arrived at 12:15, thinking that if I arrived around 1:30, the line would be calmer. However, 15 minutes after opening, the line had already started to form, and I was around 20th in line. The weather forecast predicted warm weather, but it started to rain. After waiting for about 1 hour and 15 minutes, I reached the cashier. Last time, I didn't like the scones, so this time I only bought bagels. Here are the items I purchased: - Bacon Honey Mustard Bagel (367 yen): The sweet and salty flavor is addictive. When lightly heated, the bacon becomes crispy, and the honey mustard adds a sweet touch. - Fig Rich Chocolate Bagel (367 yen): I followed the instructions to moisten it with water and warm it in the toaster. The chewy high-cacao dough, red wine-soaked figs, and rich chocolate create a fondant-like texture. - Roasted Green Tea Chestnut Bagel (367 yen): The fragrant roasted green tea from Ippodo and plenty of candied chestnuts make this a delightful treat. The aroma of roasted green tea and wheat is addictive. - Kato Miso Pretzel Bagel (291 yen): The umami of fermented foods shines in this pretzel bagel. I was worried as a bagel beginner, but the texture of the pretzel and the umami were excellent. It was recommended to sandwich avocado or unsalted butter, but I preferred just butter with a pinch of salt for a stronger flavor. - Chocolate Pretzel Bagel (345 yen): When warmed up, the chewy texture and gooey chocolate make this bagel a delicious treat. The generous amount of toppings on all the bagels ensures a satisfying experience. Overall, I had no complaints about the quality and quantity of the ingredients used in the bagels.

★Bagel Green Thai Curry with Double Cheese (¥340) ... 3.7 ★Manji Togarashi Chili Cream Cheese (¥350) ... 4.0 ★Yuzu Peel Cream Cheese (¥370) ... 4.5 ★Scone Crunchy Healthy Morning (¥320) ... 3.2 ★Salty Chocolate Scone (¥300) ... 2.5 Bagel: The bagels were chewy and had a good texture. The Green Thai Curry bagel was particularly delicious with its spicy flavor and the creamy cheese complementing it well. The Manji Togarashi Chili Cream Cheese bagel had a refreshing and sweet taste, perfect for summer. The Yuzu Peel Cream Cheese bagel was also a standout with its citrusy freshness, perfect for the hot season. Scone: The Healthy Morning Scone was crunchy and filling, made with whole grains and nuts. However, the Salty Chocolate Scone did not suit my taste as the flavor of the dough was not to my liking. Overall, the bagels were the highlight of the purchase, especially the Green Thai Curry bagel. The place had a moderate wait time on weekdays around noon, with about 15 groups in line.

✔️ Open only on Wednesdays and Saturdays ✔️ Variety of bagels available, but limited operating days make it difficult to get ✔️ Recommended to buy in bulk and freeze as they can last for a while ✔️ Can last 2-3 days at room temperature if no cheese inside ✔️ Priced at around 300 yen each, filling and satisfying ✔️ No long lines if you go around 4 pm on Saturdays ✔️ Some varieties may be sold out by evening, but still a good selection available ✔️ Packaging in Opus One wooden box caught attention ✔️ Matcha date bagel had 3 large dates inside, subtle matcha flavor ✔️ Bagels become hard over time, so reheating is a must ✔️ They provide instructions on how to reheat

They use homemade yeast. A simple shop that offers bagels and scones made with wheat flour, natural salt, and a little cane sugar. The shop is very small, only allowing up to three groups inside at a time. Some items need to be picked up by the staff. You order at the checkout. It was my first time, so I found the system a bit confusing. The bagels maintain their quality even when frozen, so I would like to buy in bulk if I have the chance to visit again. Thank you for the meal, it was delicious! (*'∀'人)✧︎

I lined up 15 minutes before opening in the midst of light snow. There was already a long line, about 20 people. Only 3 people were allowed inside the shop at a time, and I actually entered the shop at 12:41. I waited for about an hour. As soon as I entered, I saw warm bagels in front, scones to the left, and bagels lined up along the wall. Each one was individually wrapped, and there were plenty of them, so I didn't have to worry about running out for the next person, but it felt like mass production somewhere. Since the shop has limited opening days, I think they must prepare a lot on their days off, but there were always about 30 of each type lined up. Some strong people who didn't want to wait bought a lot and froze them. There were various flavors available, not just plain bagels, such as miso, roasted green tea, chocolate, curry, and soy milk, so it was fun to choose. I ate the warm bagel right after buying it. It was delicious. I reheated the room temperature one the next day, and the crispy texture was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

This shop is popular for online shopping, but since I'm in Kyoto, I wanted to eat freshly baked scones! So, I rode my bike there. The shop is in a location that you might miss if you're not paying attention! When I visited, there was a limit on the number of people allowed inside, so I had to wait in line for a bit. The shop is small, so I actually appreciated the crowd control. I love scones made with whole wheat flour. I prefer crunchy scones over moist ones! This shop is also popular for their bagels, so I bought some too. Scones are better baked at home for a bit, but I enjoyed the bagels in the park on my way back. Each item was carefully wrapped, so it was hygienic as well! I would love to visit again!

I wanted to try this bagel shop in Kyoto that had good reviews and was popular in a competitive area. I was looking forward to the pretzel bagel, but when I visited in the evening, all that was left was some unusual flavors: plain, milk, and fermented butter (pretzel). I bought one and froze it to eat the next night. The butter on the bottom was rich, and the surface was shiny, but it softened from carrying it around, making the crust slightly soft. To bring out the pretzel flavor, I reheated it in the microwave and toaster. The outside was crispy, while the inside was chewy and moist. It was a type of bagel that had a nice balance of chewiness and moistness, making it a great everyday treat. The dough was delicious, and it had a satisfying texture without feeling heavy. Although it was called a pretzel bagel, it didn't have the typical pretzel texture; it was more like a regular bagel with a crispy crust. It was a solid and tasty bagel that would be a wonderful addition to anyone's daily routine. I can see why it's a popular spot in Kyoto, but I feel like there are other similar options available locally, so I wouldn't go out of my way to order it online. If I visit again, I would like to explore other shops, as this one, although delicious, didn't have that special feeling of being unique to Kyoto.

This, this is delicious...! The unique pretzel bagels are especially good. The unusual combinations like mango and curry with cream cheese, fig and honey mustard with bacon, etc. are carefully calculated. The crispy texture outside and chewy inside! If you love bagels, it's worth trying. There was already a line 30 minutes before opening on Saturday, and it took about an hour to get in. Personally, I didn't like the scones. But the deliciousness of the bagels...

There is a bagel and scone specialty shop on Nijo Street. I heard it was really popular, so I was prepared to wait at least an hour. But when I got there, there was only a small line of about 10 people. I was able to enter the shop in about 30 minutes. However, the smell while waiting was amazing! It was a sweet cinnamon scent that increased my desire to buy. Inside the shop, bagels were lined up on one side. There were a decent variety, but it seemed like there were a lot with cream cheese. The Crunchy Healthy Morning scone for 302 yen was delicious. It was not too crunchy, but moist and easy to eat. It seemed like it had less butter, which I really liked. I wish I had bought more. It had plenty of almonds, oats, coconut, and pumpkin seeds. The Cinnamon Sugar Pretzel bagel for 324 yen was a pretzel-type bagel with a strong cinnamon sugar flavor. The dough was quite firm and required some jaw work, but it was delicious. The Pumpernickel bagel for 280 yen had a strong scent and bitterness of rye, cocoa, and caraway seeds. It was not to my liking as it felt more squeezed than chewy. I'm glad I only got two. I had high expectations for a bagel specialty shop, but it might not be for me. The scones were really to my liking, so if I were to buy again, I would go for those. Thank you for the meal.

It's so delicious and makes me so happy! "Bagel&Scone desinK" (@designk_bagel) offers the best bagels! They are only available for purchase online once every 1-2 months. As someone who loves plain bagels, the set of 12 plain bagels without fillings is just perfect for me. The texture is chewy and the flavor is amazing, especially when toasted. The whole wheat bagel has a slightly sweeter taste, while the Kato miso bagel has a subtle miso flavor that is addictive. The 100% whole wheat bagel has a great texture and a hint of sweetness. The German bagel is packed with pumpkin seeds and has a crunchy outer crust. Overall, these bagels are a delight to eat and bring so much happiness with each bite.

Opened only twice a week, this popular bagel and scone shop sells out in no time. I believe it was only on Wednesdays and Saturdays? Due to the limited opening days, the bagels are quickly sold out as soon as the shop opens. Unfortunately, I couldn't make it in time this time. The orange peel scone and rum scone were priced around 230-280 yen each. They are common classic scones, but the crispy texture is irresistible. They taste even better when warmed up a bit at home. They go well with butter, jam, or any other toppings of your choice.

*Salted Koji Fig ¥270 *Uji Matcha ¥270 I went to a bagel and scone specialty store in the afternoon, so the bagels were almost sold out ( ; _ ; ) so I bought a scone instead! I was drawn to the name Salted Koji Fig and decided to try it ♬.*゚ The dried figs were chewy with a hint of saltiness and the aroma of olive oil, it was really delicious ( "´༥`" ) The scone had different textures depending on the part you eat, the bottom was crispy, the middle layer was crumbly and moist, and the top part was crunchy. The Uji Matcha scone had a subtle matcha flavor that gently lingered in your nose after eating. It was also enjoyable to experience different textures as you eat. I personally like the crispy bottom, so I saved it for last ☺️

"design k" is a popular bakery specializing in bagels and scones, located a short walk east of Senbon Marutamachi. The store is only open on the first and third Wednesday, as well as every Saturday. It is a high-demand shop, with customers lining up 40 minutes before opening on Saturdays. By the time they open, there are usually around 20 groups waiting in line. Inside the store, you can find scones, bagels, and savory bagels on display. Only up to three people are allowed inside at a time. The savory bagels and scones are delicious and have a nice chewy texture. It is recommended to be prepared to wait in line at least 30 minutes before opening.

On my way to Arashiyama, I noticed a shop with long lines that my niece later found out was a bagel and scone shop. I decided to stop by on my way back in the evening, and despite some items being sold out, I got the W Chocolat (280 yen), Matcha Chestnut (320 yen), and Fresh Basil (270 yen) bagels, as well as a scone (250 yen). I tried the W Chocolat and Matcha Chestnut, and they had a great texture and delicious flavor. Bagels are really tasty, aren't they? It turns out the shop is only open on Saturdays, so I'll definitely visit again when I have the chance.

I came across a stylish shop with a small purple noren that didn't look like a bagel shop at all! It blends into the Kyoto-like streets with a sophisticated exterior. "Bagel & Scone Design K" The bagels and scones here are not fluffy, but have a unique texture that wheat lovers will adore. Of course, I love them too. When you peek inside, it's so chic! The bagels and scones, simple baked goods, look sparkly. They use homemade yeast with the theme of "healthy, beauty, excitement." I visited in the late afternoon, so the selection was limited, but everything looked delicious. Their presentation is also very tasteful! - Hojicha Chestnut Cream Cheese Bagel 300 yen: A Japanese-style bagel with hojicha tea leaves kneaded into the dough, overflowing with cream cheese and chestnuts. The hojicha flavor and rustic chestnut taste come through with each bite. The chewy bagel is very satisfying. A healthy snack. - Cinnamon Sugar Pretzel 300 yen: A German baked pastry called a pretzel. The unique texture comes from briefly dipping it in a lye solution before baking. A sweet and salty pretzel with a cinnamon aroma. - Rum Raisin Cream Cheese Bagel 380 yen: A specialty bagel with an amazing combination of bagel, cream cheese, and rum raisins. The visual, the form, it's the ultimate combination. Just try it! - Salted Caramel Scone 250 yen: A scone with crunchy salted caramel on the surface. Sweet, salty, addictive texture. Can be enjoyed as a snack or a meal. The fluffy texture of the scone is also irresistible. Each piece looks like a cake. A highly satisfying shop to see and eat. A shop that will be in the spotlight for bagels and scones. Thank you for the meal.

While strolling through the streets of Kyoto, I happened to come across a cute bagel and scone shop. I immediately went inside and quickly made my choices. I actually just stuck to my partner like glue, haha. I prefer bagels over scones, so I really enjoyed the hojicha chestnut cream cheese and cinnamon sugar pretzel bagels. The texture of the dough was really nice. Thank you for the meal!

I arrived at the opening time and there were already about 30 people lined up. I was worried if I would be able to buy anything. I kept smelling a strong garlic scent, wondering if it was also an Italian restaurant. Finally, after an hour, I entered the shop surrounded by the smell of garlic! They had garlic butter bagels, plain bagels, black mont blanc scones, salted caramel scones, blue cheese scones, and a healthy morning item (the name is suspicious). When I got home, I toasted the garlic butter bagel and was amazed by its deliciousness! The curry-flavored chewy dough with the garlicky butter was so good. I regretted only buying one. The other bagels had a chewy texture that was on a different level. The scones were crunchy on the outside and moist inside, and although they were small, they were satisfying. I'm willing to wait in line again to go back!

Scones and bagels at Bagel&SconedesignK in Senbon Marutamachi are a must-try! This new and popular shop opened at the beginning of 2020 and has been thriving despite the challenges of the pandemic. The shop offers a variety of unique scones flavors such as whole wheat, salted caramel, milk, Siciliana, lavender white, and gyokuro. The scones have a firm exterior and a surprisingly soft and chewy interior due to the use of yeast instead of butter, eggs, or baking powder. The milk flavor is gentle and classic, while the lavender white is bold and intriguing with a harmonious blend of lavender and white chocolate. The salted caramel scone has a hint of saltiness that balances out the sweetness. The bagels are also delicious, especially the cinnamon sugar one with a crispy crust and fragrant aroma. I also tried the ice cream sandwich made with a laugen roll, which was a delightful contrast of salty bread and cold ice cream. Overall, a fantastic dining experience at Bagel&SconedesignK!

Bagel & Scone is a specialty shop that makes bagels and scones using natural yeast. I love bagels and the shop is close to my home, but they are only open on Saturdays. I heard it gets pretty crowded, but I found out they also open on the first and third Wednesdays of the month, so I finally went. I tried a little bit of each type of bagel, including the Golden Garlic Butter Pretzel Bagel and the Cinnamon Sugar Pretzel Bagel. The freshly baked ones were my favorite. The bagels were soft and delicious, and the flavors were unique. The scones were also great, especially the Matcha scone with a crunchy texture. I arrived a little before noon, and there was already a line of 7 people. Only 3 people are allowed in the shop at a time, so I had to wait in the heat. By the time I left, the line was even longer. It seems like a lot of people come even on weekdays. Some people were buying over 5000 yen worth of products. I would like to go back, but it might be better to wait until it cools down.

Located on the east side of Senbon Marutamachi, along Marutamachi Street, is a shop called Bagel & Scone Design K. They specialize in making and selling homemade sourdough adult bagels and scones with a focus on healthy, beauty, and bubbling bitterness. The compact shop offers a variety of scones and bagels, all made in small batches. While there are no hidden secrets, it's nice that you can also eat in the shop. The menu is unique, with interesting options like the sold-out sake kasu scone from Sasaki Shuzo (famous for Sasaki Kuranosuke's family). On this visit, I tried the Pumpernickel Sandwich No.1 (¥400+tax), Date, Walnut, Whole Wheat Scone (\250+tax) for eating in, and the Pumpernickel Bagel (\250+tax), Beauty Red Beet Bagel (¥290+tax), and Sausage Curry Pretzel Roll (\230+tax) for takeout. I also had a Cappuccino (¥400+tax) for my drink. The Pumpernickel Sandwich comes in two varieties, and No.1 is made with figs, walnuts, blue cheese, and cream cheese on a Pumpernickel Bagel. The Pumpernickel Bagel is a classic New York-style bagel. The Date, Walnut, Whole Wheat Scone is made with dates and walnuts on a New York-style scone base. The coffee in the Cappuccino is made with Mocha Matari, which shouldn't be underestimated. The Beauty Red Beet Bagel for takeout is tasty, although the beet flavor is not very strong. The Sausage Curry Pretzel Roll is made with curry-flavored pretzel dough and sausage, creating an interesting combination. Overall, it's a unique and enjoyable shop with friendly staff. They are open almost every week, and I look forward to visiting again.
