I saw the sign for lamb shabu-shabu when I passed by this restaurant and it caught my interest. There is no parking lot. As I stood in front of the door, I could smell a nice aroma of anise! This raised my expectations. The interior of the restaurant is spacious with a calm color scheme similar to Fukuyoshi nearby, with dark brown tones. When I entered the restaurant, it was dinner time on a holiday, and there were about 2-3 groups of customers at all times. The restaurant is run by a couple who speak Chinese and their daughter, and they even make friendly comments like "Just wait a bit more~," so I think it's safe for a woman dining alone.
- Lamb meat medicinal shabu-shabu: There are two types of hot pots, collagen white soup and spicy red soup. The white soup is a chicken bone soup with garlic and salt, flavored with wolfberries. It's salty but delicious! The red soup has garlic, chili, sesame, fennel seeds, and other typical Chinese seasonings. Although there was anise in it, I could hardly taste it. There were beans in it, so I thought they might be using some kind of sauce. It has a refreshing spiciness that doesn't linger, and the medicinal flavors seem good for the body! And it has a flavor that becomes addictive.
- For appetizers, they served chicken breast with leek sauce. The hot pot ingredients include bok choy, napa cabbage, sweet potatoes, enoki mushrooms, tofu, and vermicelli. You can choose between lamb & chicken breast or beef & pork for the meat. You can choose between noodles or rice for the finale. Dessert includes sesame dumplings. Bok choy adds a nice flavor. The amount of meat is overwhelming, and since it's shabu-shabu, both are thinly sliced. We had it with two adults, and it might have been better with just lamb... The lamb leaves a slight unique aroma, so even those who are not fond of it should be okay.
- The portion of noodles is more than a single serving, so it would be a shock if it were rice (laughs). The sesame dumplings were served freshly fried and were deliciously crispy. (I ate them all, so there's only the plate in the photo). Finally, they offer Pu'er tea in a pot. My stomach felt like I had been to an all-you-can-eat buffet. It's amazing how satisfying it is to have delicious hot pot that makes you feel so full, and then to be served Oolong tea and Pu'er tea for around ¥2400 per person. What a great deal. Ordering two servings for three people and adding a few side dishes might be a good amount. I wanted to try the xiaolongbao, but... I was on the verge of giving up, so it's a shame. There are many other dishes I want to try, so I would like to come back again. Thank you for the meal.
