Located west of Karasuma Sanjo is a Spanish restaurant with around 20 seats, including counter seats, table seats, and seats in the back. The menu is extensive. Here is what I had today:
- Orange Juice: Valencia orange juice with a rich flavor.
- Tapas Assortment: Pickles (cucumber, bell pepper, carrot, celery), Cream of Potage Soup (cold soup made with golden carrots), Galician-style pork ham, Boiled salted cockles (crunchy texture with mild seasoning), Smoked oysters (continuously aromatic and flavorful), Potato salad with aioli sauce, Salami made from Iberian pig, Spanish-style omelette with plenty of potatoes.
- Moorish-style skewered lamb: Soft lamb skewered with spicy Spanish spices.
- Lobster Paella (individual serving): With lobster, clams, and mussels, made with broth from octopus, red snapper, and squid. The flavor is rich, but the serving size is surprisingly small.
- Squid ink paella, Meloso (individual serving): Additional order of a paella dish similar to porridge, with a strong squid flavor.
Finally, I was satisfied after ordering more food. The Catalan Cream dessert was delicious, with the foam squeezed in front of me and caramelized with granulated sugar. The fruit at the bottom (kiwi, blueberry, grape) added a refreshing touch. It was my first time at this restaurant, and I was a bit confused about the portion size as I dined alone. In hindsight, I should have ordered two servings of the Squid ink paella, Meloso. I also received some surprised looks for eating so much alone, which was a bit embarrassing.
