On the way back from camping in Kumi-hama, we stopped by Amanohashidate, which is a popular tourist spot. It was crowded and too hot. We had a seafood bowl and a set meal with three kinds of dried fish. The set meal included three kinds of dried fish, white rice, clam soup, and chawanmushi. The dried fish were flounder, sardine marinated in mirin, and Atka mackerel. They were all delicious and went well with the rice. I wish I could have had a beer with it. My eldest daughter ordered the same and also enjoyed the seafood bowl. Although it was a bit pricey as a tourist spot, we were satisfied with the quality of the food. Thank you for the meal.

I'm sorry for the bad review. I had high expectations coming here near the sea, but the freshness was not as good as eating a bowl in Nara without the sea. The amount of sushi in the photo was not worth the high price of 1700 yen. The clam soup was tasty but too light. I would have liked to taste the clam flavor more in the clam bowl. It may be unavoidable due to it being a tourist spot, but the grilled halfbeak I ordered separately was the most delicious. I may have had too high expectations for sashimi and such being near the sea.

The salt-grilled saury I had at this restaurant was one of the most delicious dishes I had during this trip. While waiting for the saury to be grilled, I secretly enjoyed some black bean soft serve ice cream. They grill the fresh fish displayed in front of the store and serve it right there. It goes well with draft beer. Unfortunately, I had to drive later so I couldn't have beer, but this kind of experience is definitely a highlight of going to the sea.

After reflecting on my daily actions, I visited the Bunnosudo temple with a solemn expression, and now it's time to enjoy my vacation with a beer! With limited time before my train ride, I decided to stop by this place near Amanohashidate Station. 1. Exterior, atmosphere, interior of the restaurant: Located just a 1-minute walk from Amanohashidate Station, right in front of the station. It may look like a typical souvenir shop from the station side, but from the approach to the Bunnosudo temple, you can see many dried fish and menu signs for meals, making it a recommended dining place. The dining area is on the second floor, surprisingly spacious and accommodating with large tables and tatami seating, suitable for families or groups. 2. About the food: First, a cold bottled beer! Beer tastes especially good in the dry winter. For appetizers, I selected "dried squid" which was small but packed with flavor. The bitterness of the liver was also delicious. Next, I chose a "dried flounder" from the dried fish corner on the first floor to have it grilled. You can choose your favorite dried fish and have the chef grill it for a fee. It was delicious, with the flounder perfectly fatty, hot off the charcoal grill, tender, and flavorful. The seasoning was just right, and the aroma of charcoal was comforting. I silently enjoyed every bite, even cleaning the meat around the bones. 3. Staff service: The lady at the dried fish counter was very friendly, which led me to enter the restaurant without hesitation. She was polite and did not push any products, even explaining the distinction between local and non-local items. The speed of food service was appropriate, and I had no particular concerns. 4. Value for money: Being in a prime location right in front of Amanohashidate Station, it's understandable that the prices are somewhat higher. However, the satisfaction of enjoying delicious grilled dried fish (2 kinds) was worth it. The staff's hospitality was also pleasant, so overall, I believe the value for money is good. 5. Other observations: Amanohashidate was indeed as beautiful as rumored.

We thoroughly enjoyed the bridge, took a sightseeing boat, and had a late lunch here before heading back. The parking lot side of Chion-ji Temple was quiet, and we noticed a shop displaying local sake and dried fish, so we decided to check it out. As we were led through the intricate interior, we ended up at a lively store right in front of the station and were surprised! The Chion-ji Temple side turned out to be a kind of back entrance or secondary shop. We ordered a set meal with dried fish and seafood bowl. The homemade dried fish, such as barracuda, sailfin sandfish, horse mackerel, and another type we couldn't remember (sorry, we're not experts in seafood), was plump and delicious, with a texture similar to overnight-dried fish. The sashimi in the seafood bowl was fresh and tasty.

Basically, fresh ingredients are important! The quality and reputation of a restaurant are determined by the cooking and serving methods. The friendly older lady taking orders in the restaurant was a nice touch. She even accommodated a few special requests, and I left feeling more satisfied than the rating on Tabelog suggested. I also visited Toba recently, but I found the prices a bit higher there compared to the Japan Sea side. However, the taste was impeccable!

This restaurant is located less than a minute's walk from Amanohashidate Station on the Miyazu Tango Railway. As soon as you leave Amanohashidate Station, you can see it right in front of you. It is located along Prefectural Route 2, and parking is available at a nearby coin parking lot. When you peek inside, you'll see a souvenir shop, but you can tell by the display case of food next to the entrance. The first floor is a souvenir shop, and the second floor is a dining area with 4 tables for 4 people, 2 tables for 8 people, and 4 sunken kotatsu tables, all non-smoking. There is no counter seat, so it may be tough for solo diners. This time, I had the "Seafood Bowl for 1500 yen + Shredded Horsehair Crab for 1550 yen." "The edible parts of the horsehair crab (female snow crab) are all packed in the shell. The deliciousness of the ovaries, which male crabs don't have, is exceptional. The fishing season for horsehair crabs is short, until the end of the year, so now is the time to eat them." it said, so I ordered it. The seafood bowl arrived about 15 minutes after ordering. The ingredients included sea bream, amberjack, yellowtail, sweet shrimp, squid, scallop, salmon roe, surf clam, and squid. There was more rice and ingredients than I expected, and the price was reasonable for a tourist spot. The rice was plain white rice with chopped seaweed and sesame sprinkled on top. The salmon roe seemed to be smaller these days, but this one was a normal size. The sea bream and amberjack were fresh enough, so I think it's a satisfying seafood bowl. The miso soup had 3 clams in it. You could taste the light dashi broth. The pickles included pickled daikon radish, kelp, and spicy cucumber. The horsehair crab was in an oval shell about 8cm x 6cm. It was packed with meat, ovaries, and miso, allowing you to fully enjoy the horsehair crab. It's a luxury to eat this much crab at once, and I think it's really extravagant. You could even eat the crab meat on top of the seafood bowl.

I came to eat delicious dried fish, but ended up discovering giant scallops and rock oysters, so I changed my order (lol). The giant scallop set was around 2700 yen, and the rock oyster was around 980 yen. The dried fish set was around 1680 yen. The scallops here are known for being thick and meaty, and for the price, they were surprisingly large. The rock oyster was a size that even a woman could eat in one bite if they tried. The dried fish set included flounder, horse mackerel, and saury, and although the saury looked a bit overcooked in the picture, it was still delicious. The side dishes and clam soup were tasty, but the rice was not so good. There was another set with scallops and rock oysters for around 3500 yen, but I didn't feel it was worth it. The atmosphere of the restaurant was like an old cafeteria, with no explanation about the dried fish. The parking lot mentioned in reviews was not clearly indicated, and the lady directing us to park seemed annoyed. For those planning to sightsee after eating, it's better to park in the paid parking lots nearby. When we moved our car after eating, we found that most parking lots in the area charge around 600-1000 yen per day. On our way back, we found rock oysters at another shop near the Amanohashidate entrance for only 680 yen. The real peak season for giant scallops is in July, so keep that in mind if you plan to visit.

The inside of the shop can be entered from both the street in front of the station and the road leading to Monjudo, making it a somewhat mysterious design. The street in front of the station side has souvenir-like items, while the side facing Chionin Temple (I think that's the name) features mainly homemade dried seafood products. However, since this place was originally a fish market, they prominently display locally caught flounder, dried squid, Japanese flying squid, and horse mackerel outside the store, and they also have a wide variety of live crabs. They even introduce the taste of unfamiliar small fish by grilling them on a portable stove outside the store. On this day, I ended up purchasing two large flounders (each 420 yen) and a portion of shredded snow crab meat for 1200 yen to take home. I carefully packed them in a tuna box brought from Yokohama and brought them back. It seems that there are some areas where snow crabs are scarce this year, but this place seemed to be just barely safe. The snow crab was juicy, sweet, and of excellent quality. If I have the opportunity to come back here again, I'm sure I will enjoy it even more. I also made a promise to myself to come back during the snow crab season.*************************************The atmosphere is somewhat charming, so I have rated it a bit higher than what the general public might think.

Gourmet tour, stopped by Amanohashidate. There are entrances from the front of the station and the back, as well as from the parking lot. In front of the shop, there are various types of fish such as shima aji, uoze, and hatahata lined up. You can either grill them yourself at the front of the shop, have them grilled for you on the second floor, or take them as souvenirs, it's a three-choice situation. Well, there are several of us chefs mixed in, so we grilled and ate a lot at the front of the shop, and then drank a lot. Since the parking lot is right in front, there was a scene where the aunties from the tour buses mistakenly thought the shop was offering samples and started eating the dried fish we were grilling. With a cup of sake or canned beer in one hand, we were gulping it down while exclaiming loudly, "Hatahata is the best!" or "It's so fatty!" We were completely in performance mode for the shop's promotion. The shop ladies were also laughing and happy. We had a fun time eating plenty of dried fish, but later regretted it. Eating only fatty dried fish makes you feel sick. Of course, that's obvious. We got carried away. By the way, it's cheaper to eat at the front of the shop, but more expensive to eat inside.
