I ordered beer and "henkoyaki," which is a simple and delicious takoyaki made with a dashi-flavored batter, sesame oil, Kujyo green onions, and rock salt. It was excellent and paired well with the beer. I've also tried regular takoyaki here before, and they were also delicious. Whether with sauce or sesame oil, both are tasty. Thank you for the meal.

After going to a ramen shop, I went to Premol Namamugi! They serve plenty of green onions! The outside is crispy, the inside is hot and melty, so delicious! The gyoza is crunchy, the karaage is fluffy! They give you lots of green onions, it's delicious and the drinking set is a good deal! The staff are working happily, it was delicious! Thank you very much!

I've been curious about this takoyaki shop for a while. The menu shows that the signature dish is 6 pieces of takoyaki for 390 yen, without sauce. Of course, I had to try it. It wasn't bad, but I still prefer the regular takoyaki with sauce. The price is reasonable.

"Takoichi" highly recommends the "Recommended Set" as a perfect drinking set menu. This set includes 6 pieces of "Henkoyaki" in a jug with a hint of Premium Malt's Ale, 3 pieces of "Golden Karaage," and 3 pieces of "Special Meat Juice Gyoza." It is a great selection that combines the best of "Takoichi" at a cost-effective price of 1,080 yen including tax. "Henkoyaki" is a type of takoyaki that is baked without sauce, topped with sesame oil, Kujonegi (Japanese leek), and rock salt. The freshly baked takoyaki is served hot at the store. The "Special Meat Juice Gyoza" is filled with a well-seasoned garlic-flavored filling wrapped in thin skin and cooked until the meat juice overflows when you bite into it. The "Golden Karaage" is marinated in a special sauce with ginger and garlic for 24 hours, coated in a thin batter, and double-fried to achieve a crispy exterior and juicy interior. Paired with a Premium Malt's Ale, this set is a wallet-friendly and satisfying option. In addition to beer, they also offer reasonably priced highballs made with "Hakushu" or "Yamazaki," making it a great place to enjoy from the first drink to the last. "Takoichi" is truly a fantastic restaurant.

After a long time, "Kyoto Takohachi" was still delicious. According to records, I last visited the Takohachi located on the first floor of a pachinko parlor at the intersection of Senchuu and Senbon Nakadachi streets in April 2015. It serves Kyoto-style takoyaki, distinct from Osaka or Tokyo styles. With the spirit of "Ichiyaki Nichi" (putting your heart into each takoyaki), it seems to be part of a chain with several branches starting from Senchuu. This branch is located at the corner of Shijo Aburakojidori. The "Takoyaki (6 pieces)" (390 yen) was as pictured. The fluffy and hot takoyaki with a dashi flavor, following Kyoto's culinary culture, was appealing. While their specialty is the "Henkoyaki" without sauce, the regular takoyaki is also delicious. It's a gentle and subtly tasty treat. The choice between the two depends on your mood. Thank you for the meal. (By Kyonatsu Shuusora, 2023.1.8) (13 reviews, 3.19)

I met someone with the Stand "My Stand" and we hit it off, talking about takoyaki. They recommended a nearby restaurant called Takoi, which I also happen to like. I had a Premium Malty Ale draft beer, while my guide had sweet potato shochu with hot water. We enjoyed octopus bites, Takoi's specialty "Henkoyaki," and special juicy dumplings. The octopus bites were tender with plenty of chopped green onions and a sprinkle of chili pepper. The Henkoyaki was takoyaki without sauce, topped with sesame oil, green onions, and rock salt. It was piping hot, so be careful not to burn your mouth. We washed it down with cold beer. Lastly, the special juicy dumplings were served with a White Horse highball. The dumplings were filled with a flavorful mix of ginger and garlic, and the juices burst in your mouth when you bite into them. The green onions on the side added a nice crunch. The combination of octopus bites, Henkoyaki, and dumplings with cold beer and a White Horse highball made for a delightful 45-minute meal. Takoi is a great and affordable restaurant recognized by locals in Kyoto.

I visited during the evening on a regular day. When I entered, there were hardly any customers, but as dinner time approached, the restaurant was about half full. Most customers seemed to be buying takeout. I had a draft beer and the recommended item, hencoyaki (with mayonnaise and shichimi), and salted cabbage. The draft beer was only 390 yen, which is a great deal! The salted cabbage was average. The hencoyaki was really delicious! It was so good! With these three items, I had a satisfying meal and drink for only 999 yen. Quick, affordable, and great quality. Best.

On the evening of the Friday before the three-day weekend, I headed to Iwate Hanamaki Airport as soon as work ended, aiming to reach Itami Airport. We took off at the scheduled time of 6:50 pm, but due to air traffic control regulations, we were kept waiting in the sky above Kyoto for over 30 minutes, landing in Itami at 9:00 pm, 40 minutes behind schedule. To make matters worse, we were directed to the runway furthest from the terminal and had to take a shuttle bus to the terminal. After arriving at Karasuma Station via Osaka Monorail and Hankyu Railway, I finally reached Nijo at 10:20 pm. When I called the restaurant I had planned to visit, they said they were not busy and would be closing early at 11:00 pm. So, I decided to go to a nearby restaurant called "Takoichi" and ordered their recommended set meal which included "Hennokoyaki" (octopus balls without sauce), "Special Meat Juicy Gyoza" and "Golden Fried Chicken" along with a large draft beer. The "Hennokoyaki" was served hot and fresh, with sesame oil, Kujonegi, and rock salt sprinkled on top. It was a delight for someone like me who prefers octopus balls without sauce, but be careful of burning your mouth. The "Special Meat Juicy Gyoza" had a strong garlic flavor and the juicy meat filling overflowed when you took a bite. When cooked well, it tasted similar to the gyoza at Gyoza no Ohsho. The crispy Kujonegi served alongside provided a nice crunchy texture contrast. The "Golden Fried Chicken" was marinated in a special sauce with ginger and garlic for 24 hours, then double-fried to achieve a crispy exterior and juicy interior. All the dishes were served hot and fresh, enhancing the overall taste experience. The draft beer was a Premium Malt's Ale, which I have grown to like recently. I enjoyed the octopus balls, gyoza, and fried chicken with a single drink in a 30-minute dining experience. Although I had to finish quickly before the 11:00 pm closing time, the total bill of around 1,500 yen provided good value for the delicious food and satisfying experience.

I stopped by this place on my way back to the hotel in Kyoto for a second round of drinks. I sat at the counter and the staff were very friendly. This place is known for their "henko-yaki," which is like takoyaki but with a different flavor. I ordered 6 pieces of henko-yaki and a highball. The henko-yaki was delicious, with a hint of bonito broth and seasoned with Andes rock salt. It was so good that I didn't even need any sauce. The highball was also great, I ended up having more than one. It was a fun solo drinking experience!

A local takoyaki shop in Kyoto. The atmosphere is quite strict with a small interior, hard round chairs, and narrow tables, but the taste and cost performance are quite good here. This day, we went for an early second round and had gyoza, hencoyaki, takoyaki, 10 pieces each, and two chu-hai drinks each. The price was around 1500 yen per person. First, the gyoza was quite satisfying with a lot of filling and good flavor. The takoyaki was normal, but eating it while blowing on it is the best. What stood out was the "hencoyaki", where sakura shrimp powder or something similar was mixed into the takoyaki batter, and it had sesame oil in it. This had a different flavor compared to regular takoyaki and I enjoyed it. The shop is almost open-air, so it might be tough in the summer.

On this day in spring of this year, I was staying at a hotel in Muromachi but did not notice the opening of a new restaurant. It is a takoyaki izakaya that originated in Kyoto and declared to be "sauce-free". I entered the restaurant after confirming that there were no other customers inside. I ordered a "not sweet sour" drink and decided to try their specialty, the "henkoyaki", which is takoyaki without sauce. However, I was actually craving for the regular "sauce takoyaki" on that day. I added mayo and bonito flakes as toppings. The first sour drink disappeared quickly, so I ordered the recommended "Gin Sour Midori" which turned out to be a new product from Suntory called "Suntory Japanese Gin Sui". It was a taste I enjoyed. The takoyaki, however, was a bit hard on the outside and lacked filling. Looking forward to trying it again next time!

Every time I ride the bus, I see this place and it caught my attention. Today, I decided to stop by since I was walking. I ordered a set of takoyaki and draft beer. There is a good deal for the set. Takoyaki is 390 yen for 6 pieces. They asked me what toppings I wanted, and I ended up choosing all three: mayonnaise, shichimi (Japanese spice blend), and seaweed. The takoyaki is cooked on a hot plate at the entrance on the right side, and you can also take it to go. When I entered, I saw the takoyaki cooking on the hot plate, so I thought it would come out quickly, but I had to wait. The takoyaki had a sesame oil aroma and was served without sauce. It had green onions, mayonnaise, and shichimi on top, and the outside was crispy while the inside was soft with a rich dashi flavor. It was light but not too light, and it was delicious! However, it was a bit annoying that the staff kept saying "Welcome, please enjoy" every few seconds while cooking.

From lunchtime onwards, we decided to stop by this shop on the way to our destination because it was still a bit early. We ended up trying their recommended set for 1,080 yen, which included 6 takoyaki, 3 pieces of karaage, and 3 gyoza. It was a great deal and all the portions were quite generous. The shop also offered an original dish called "henkoyaki" seasoned with salt and green onions, which had a delicious aroma of sakura shrimp. We ended up feeling quite full even though we were just planning to have a light drink. The value for money was excellent, and I would definitely like to visit this place again in the future.

This person may have never cooked before, but I was surprised. The smell of oil and oil. Maybe because they stir-fry before cooking? I will support them silently as they improve!

I tried regular takoyaki this time at the same place where I first had the delicious "henko-yaki" without sauce. Toppings like green onions, mayonnaise, and shichimi are free, which is nice. When I got home, the takoyaki was still hot even though it's about a 10-minute walk from the shop. There were lots of green onions on top, but it didn't have the same impact as the "henko-yaki" without sauce. Does sauce make that much of a difference in taste? More importantly, when I finished eating and went to wash the container, I realized it had melted and had holes in it. Isn't that dangerous? This was the worst part for me. I usually get takoyaki for takeout rather than eating in the store, but now I'm reconsidering that.
